This visit was to get handicapped placards for our cars for SHE who cashes my retirement check. Dr.'s office gave us the necessary paperwork which one fills out ahead of time. You will need to bring check book or other approved payment to purchase the placards. AND AND the driver's license of the party getting the placards. Since last here one signs into the kiosk right inside and select the service needed. You get a unique ticket that will be called. I got called within seconds of getting ticket but didn't have her DL. BUT BUT the clerk said if she could text photo of DL to me she could work with it. After a few minutes got said text and we were in business. Very grateful for courteous staff to work with photo on phone of DL. Most people waiting awhile I think were for vehicle paperwork registration. It was busy for Tue PM. Look at signs overhead to go to correct waiting area. Also lucked out with TV parking up front. And I got to wait inside not outside in heat. read more

As a veteran who has served longer than everyone in that office combined, it's frustrating to be asked for a bill of sale when it's not even required--especially for an old car with over 250K miles. Came here to register my vehicle on a Friday morning. They open at 8 am, and I arrived at 7:45 am. There was already a line about 20 people queued up in front of me. The whole process took about 40 minutes. There are no seats here (for those that cannot stand in line for a long time). There was about 4 people working on the side of new registration. Even though there was only about 8 people in front of me, it took longer than I thought because some people had several cars they were registering that day. The people who work here are super nice, and they do try to move the lines as quickly as possible! It's been a while since I've had to come in person to get new vehicle titling handled and I do believe first time at this location. It used to be a bit further deeper in same area. In any event, I went recently about 10 minutes before opening hours. There was a line waiting so I just plopped myself in line. A lady from inside opened up staff door and reminded those who haven't to scan the QR code to get a ticket number and that'll be the actual "line" so I, and several others, did so. That was very helpful since people were crowding the entrance so the QR code sign can be hard to see. Then right when 8:00am hit, the doors opened and everyone went inside. There was plenty of seating available and the speaker already started calling ticket numbers to assist people. There's a display too showing ticket numbers being called and worked on. The wait was maybe about 30 min. Initially I was thinking it'd be a lot longer because there were maybe just 3 staffers working tickets. But after about 5-10min, then more stations opened up so it got quicker. That'd be my only suggestion. Have max staff right at open hours. I understand if it's simply not available but for how much money we feed into this office, I think it's doable. I'm talking to you Mr. Maun. Being someone who never really gets challenged in this office, don't slack and let's keep trying to improve things always. Try to make things better and more efficient without making the county residents pay more than we already do. The gentleman who helped me was excellent. Efficient, helpful and courteous. One thing I do want to note is it's hard to hear each other sometimes at the stations. Yes, they are a government office, BUT, they have customer service and friendliness the likes of Nordstrom or Chick Fil A. Don't be scare by long lines. I have never waited more than 15 minutes. Typically it is less than 5 minutes :^) read more

I decided to write a review for this office, because over the years, it's gotten really bad meaning some of the state employees who work there have horrible customer service and their attitude is just as bad if not worse. I've been living in Plano since 2005. I'm a transplant from Southern California(my company's headquartered here in DFW). The workers I'm referring to are the windows 11 and 12 with no name plates in their cubicles(they probably don't want people to know their names is my guess). Last month, I was there and spoke to the Caucasian lady in her late to early 60's with a blonde hair(window 11). I got called and I told her what I was there to get done and the first thing that came out of her mouth was, "WHO ARE YOU?". Not "Hi, How are you?" or May I see your Texas DL and proof of insurance?" Today, her neighbor at window 12(Caucasian lady in her late to mid 60's with glasses with frizzy hair that needed a root touch up)was even worse and quite hostile and quite rude for what reason, I don't know. She was playing a mask police and told me I needed to pull it up. She didn't tell the little Caucasian girl standing at window 11 to pull her mask up as she was wearing it on her chin. Let that sink in. It didn't end there. She had the sign with "Kenneth L Maun" in front of her window, so it was hard for me to hear her and getting the documents through and she had a major attitude. She said what I handed to her was not the title. My temp license expired today, so I asked her to get an extension and when she through the document through KLM sign and I had to pay in cash, I've had it, so I told her I'd be back and walked away. I was so close to lose my temper and cuss her out. I went home to get my husband to bring him with me to the Tax Collectors office, but he said grow some balls and tell her how you feel. I went back with my tittle and I got Chelsea, a nice young lady. I was so relieved that she was so very nice and it was very apparent that she likes her job and treats people with professionalism and kindness not like other two ladies who seem to not like their job and treat people like crap. I know that no one really wants to come here to get their tax paperwork filed or pay for their car registration, but this place is very easy to navigate and very efficient. The lanes are clearly marked and the people are pretty nice considering what and who they have to work with. Even if the lines are long, it's not that bad of a wait. The parking area is VERY tight, so you may want to park on the other side of the buildings near Park Street. Also, they don't take credit cards, only cash or checks. The line was out the door and most of the hour I was there it was 1 person renewing plates lots of other there just not worrying about it. There was an elderly woman with a walker standing the whole time I would have let her go but I was behind her and no one else seemed to care. Workers get up and go on break with no replacement. It's all glass windows so management can see the problem and does nothing about it. They had a sign to be nice to workers that showed up. With as much money as that place takes in they could hire more. But it looked like there were enough people there just not helping customers. read more

You;d think tax collector office would make it easy for people to pay- obviously not. And what kills me, every time someone uses a credit card, the clerk will make a loud proclamation "You will be charged an extra $1.50 or whatever "processing fee" for using a credit card. The lines usually move at a decent rate. I very much appreciate efficiency and taking up less of my time as this is something that most of us dread doing once a year. The staff has always been helpful. Parking lot is packed all the time, so be patient and careful as there are people walking everywhere. They do charge an extra fee for debit/credit cards, so try to bring a check. The address on the check must match the address on the Driver's License. On my last trip, I was in and out in 11 minutes for vehicle registration renewal at the end of the month. I've been in a line before that was down the hallway, but it still moved at a decent pace. No complaints, I know the staff are dealing with a large amount of customers every single day irritated that they even have to come and complete this annual task. I've never had any issues so far. Also, pay attention which line you enter. One is for TX renewals. The other is for out of state obtaining TX license plate for first time. read more

I had CA LA DMV experience with long queues and long waiting times. So expecting same experience here as well. Surprisingly, it was just opposite. I was in tax office @9 am and was out by 9.15 am with new registration plates. Staff was very supportive and friendly to provide all information.
