The ballroom has large windows overlooking the Aquatics Complex, which gives the space a bright, open feel. The private dressing room was included in the rental, and it was a huge plus. It was perfect for storing personal items and stepping away when needed. The room included its own sink, mini fridge, clothing rack, shelves, a table with four chairs, and a small sofa. The center provides a sound system with a microphone and TVs for presentations. The restrooms were clean, and parking was plentiful, shared with the Aquatics Complex. Big shout out to the onsite staff who made the day run smoothly. They were excellent! Brian, Maria, and Amy were helpful, professional, and friendly! However, there are some real downsides: Renting the kitchen, patio, or grass area costs extra, which feels excessive--especially the kitchen, which should really be included with a ballroom rental. Communication was the biggest issue. Bernal handled most of the rental coordination and was extremely difficult to reach & there wasn't a backup coordinator to communicate with. Emails were not answered in a timely manner, phone calls went straight to a messaging system and you cannot leave a message. We repeatedly had to drive to the center in person just to find someone to talk to. When we finally reached Bernal's supervisor, she apologized and explained there were staffing limitations at the time. Regardless, renters should not experience delays in communication. Better coverage and responsiveness are needed. Overall, great facility and great onsite staff, but communication needs improvement. With better responsiveness, this would easily be a 5-star venue.

Zumba Fit with Coach T through City of Sacramento Parks & Rec!…read more The North Natomas Community Center is attached to the North Natomas Aquatics Complex on the west end of North Natomas Regional Park. "The facility features a main ballroom, warming kitchen, and a private dressing room. Large windows overlook the North Natomas Aquatics Complex." Among the youth and community programs and events put on by the city of Sacramento, I checked out activities offered at NNCC and found an Adult Zumba Fit class. She's been teaching there since January 2024 and also teaches at Curves, Zumba Gold (seniors and older adults) at the South Natomas Community Center, and Zumbini (for 0-3-year-olds and their caregivers). For March, it cost $30 from March 5, 2024, to March 26, 2024, each Tuesday from 7 pm to 7:50 pm which was a great deal! For April, it's single classes instead for $10 each on April 9th, 23rd, and 30th, which is still a cheaper option compared to other places in the area such as Step 1 Dance & Fitness which is $15 for each drop-in class. Come and join us! The class is fun, not difficult at all to follow/pick up the repetitive choreography, and the playlist has a nice mix of songs: Cupid Shuffle, Blame It On The Boogie (Jackson 5), Proud Mary (Tina Turner), What A Feeling (Flashdance), The Cookout, The Wobble, and some other Latin-inspired ones too. Small class size but a huge space to dance around in, a good sound system, and the windows can act as mirrors if you're looking for that dance studio feel. Restrooms clean, water fountain if you forgot to bring your own bottle, onsite security guy for the evening too by the entrance. Plenty of parking as it's shared with the Aquatic Complex and they usually still have things going on there at the pool nearest to the Community Center during that hour.

It includes 2 large large dining tables that each seat 10 and has additional folding tables - this last time they were two 8' tables (previously had 10' tables) and nice black chairs for each. There is outdoor furniture for good weather days and opens up to community park on the opposite side of the entrance for kids to stretch their legs. Parking is just street parking so not abundant but sufficient.

However, the clubhouse itself, run by the City of Sacramento, is fine and safe, and the Park and Rec Dept runs activities at the clubhouse which are generally quite educational, safe, and wholesome. The clubhouse itself has several rooms inside for groups of kids to play games, read, watch movies, and do other fun group activities in as part of different events or summer camps. They also have some events for teens here, which is nice, as teens need healthy and positive activities to participate in so as not to get into trouble and not become involved with illegal activities and groups. Overall, this is a good place for children, family, and teens alike.

I mainly used the fitness room which has weights, exercise bikes, and treadmills. The fitness room is always organized and clean. There are plenty of treadmills but sometimes there's a wait for the bikes because there are only two. However, that doesn't happen very often. It's a great place to go if you don't want to spend a fortune on a gym membership. The center also offers things like yoga, martial arts, dance, senior, and after school programs. There's great little cafe and an epic play area for kids called Fort Natomas.

Outside there are grassy fields for sports, a very large lap swimming pool and a kid's pool with some water features to include water pipes that would shoot or dump water down and water slides for kids. All in all, this is a good community center. I think the outdoors facilities could use some update, but generally, the grounds outside and the building itself have both been kept in good condition for the most part.

Although not in the best part of town, I feel it's actually quite safe here and it's very well maintained. It's very clean, the bathrooms in particular were really much cleaner than private sports clubs and gyms I've been to and although the hours are more limited, 8a-8p M-F and Sat 8a-12n, there's also a gym studio with pretty decent equipment (with a very reasonable membership fee). There are afterschool programs for kids here M-F 3-6p and some adults and teens drop in open hours type of sports offerings as well. The multi-purpose room (i.e. gymnasium) is huge and can turn into a full court for basket or a couple of volleyball courts. There's also a computer lab with open hours for public use, and there are 2 full basketball courts outdoors in addition to some grassy fields (not very big though), and of course the swimming pools which are open only for the summer season. Overall, Samuel & Bonnie Pannell Community Center remains a vital part of the community in Meadowview/South Sacramento area and provides quite a lot of free and paid facilities and recreation and sports programs for all ages.

Technically the activity location is officially called the "New Aquatic Center" at 8025 Waterman Rd, not the Pat O'Brien Community Center but I'm leaving this review here for now until the "New Aquatic Center" gets its own business page. For only $30 for 4 classes, I signed up as something fun to do and cool off to end the summer, and to complement my Orangetheory workouts and Zumba classes. The 45-minute class is meant to help improve flexibility and range of motion, and to build cardiovascular fitness and muscular strength. I brought water shoes, a towel, swimming attire, and a hat. They didn't recommend any need for pool noodles. Check in at the window and after entering the gate, grab a pair of foam water dumbbells (black, blue, or purple -- I'm not too sure the difference) and choose a spot in the water. Winnie had a speaker with music playing and a whiteboard with the moves written out to follow along/refer to. The warm-up consisted of jogging a few laps in the water around the pool to start, followed by frog leaps around the pool. Lastly, butt-kicks underwater in place. First set was jumping West/North/East/South and back to center underwater. Next was the Superman, then Flutter Kicks for more core work. Then we did Front Raises with the water dumbbells. (The water dumbbells offer resistance underwater that will help tone and strengthen the arm muscles, abs, and back.) Set #2 consisted of Lateral Raises, a Standing Row, and Chest Fly moves with the water dumbbells. Finally, the cooldown was another jogging lap around the pool, one lap walking around the pool, then stretches for hamstrings, triceps, shoulders, neck, obliques, etc. It's a neat exercise alternative, and our instructor was Winnie (although her last class will be the August 13th as she's going back to college in SoCal). The class size isn't too big, and all ages represented! For the first meeting we were in the shallow end of the larger (laned) pool as there was only one lifeguard. They also have water aerobics offered Monday and Wednesday evenings 7:30-8:15PM, which continue into September and October (not sure about the Saturday ones). UPDATE: Instructor changed to Brittany (sp?) for remainder of the August Saturday sessions. Lots of parking. I know at the Pat O'Brien Community Center they also have Zumba classes, and Citizens Church meets on Sundays too. There's a walking path and basketball court too, sometimes they have craft fairs, car shows, and you might even catch Rico's Tamales for sale.

The Community Center at District 56 in Elk Grove is the newest addition in the City of Elk Grove…read more It has its parking lot at the Civic Center Dr entrance, or you can also park your car at the Elk Grove Aquatic Center parking at the Big Horn Blvd entrance. The new Community Center is enormous, and the landscaping is beautiful. You can set up your event here or just come to a relaxing. It is currently open from 9 am to 6 pm Monday to Friday only. Saturday and Sunday are closed. The cafe next to the main entrance has outdoor seating. You can enjoy a cup of coffee or some snacks there. This is a lovely area to visit when you're in Elk Grove.
