This was a gift for Mother's Day from my family. This was a Ghost Tour of Colonial Williamsburg and William and Mary's College Grounds with Historic details and gruesome stories of the area. My husband and I enjoyed the 8:00pm on Saturday so much that we stayed for the 10:00pm extended with Thomas, our guide. Be prepared to walk. Comfortable shoes a must. We were very excited to give this ghost tour a try, however, we were sorely disappointed. Our tour guide spoke as if she were reading lines for a high school play. We were ready to leave the tour after the first stop. We stuck around and got some great shots of the town at night, but did not pay much attention to what the guide had to say as she stumbled her way through her script. We did pass another tour group that looked and sounded soooo much better! Wish I knew the name of that company... I'd share it! I'd would not recommend this tour at all!! read more

This tour was the trip activity I was most excited for. Thomas was our guide, and he has a real talent of engaging the group and keeping them engaged throughout the 1 hour tour (which I feel was just long enough). This tour is appropriate for children and adults alike. I am a published spirit medium and spiritualist back home, so I was curious as to what would show up for me. There were three incidences where myself and one of my children had psychic experiences that were partly in-line with the stories shared on the tour. You DO NOT have to have the same beliefs and views as us to have a great time on this tour! ( I would have been burned for my beliefs) I recommend this ghost tour on your trip to Williamsburg. We did rent emf detectors for the children additionally and acquired a lot more historic information on the tour from Thomas. Now I have to learn about the significance of the two trees being the courthouse. THAT is also an active zone, but you can see for yourself. :) read more

Mehhhh. Ultimate tour was overpriced and felt like a bait and switch from what was promised in the ad. Guide walked too fast and didn't wait for people to catch up. I even asked her to slow down and she didn't. Felt ripped off. Missed half the stories. People with EMF detectors were extremely distracting. Would not recommend. read more

We took the 10pm tour last night with Minna and were disappointed. The stories seemed made up and were not engaging. The claim that the traditional historical stories are wrong and that Colonial Ghost Tours tells the "real" ones seems like a convenient cover. I was surprised so many people paid to get the toy EMF devices. At over two hours, it was way too long. Our money would have been better spent on a Room Escape or other live performance. Luckily, we were with good friends so that saved the evening. read more

This tour was a ton of fun! My teenage children and I took the ultimate tour with the extended option. Our tour guide William really gave the tour that extra fun factor, he was amazing! He is a master story teller and you can tell he really enjoys his job. Even my kids loved it and talked about it all the way home. The guide, Jake, was great. We had a large group and he was able to keep everyone engaged and informed. He answered questions and was very patient with our boisterous and enthusiastic kids (ages 3, 7, 8 and 11). The tour was about an hour long, which seemed just long enough. We enjoyed it. We also rented an EMF detector for the kids. They enjoyed "looking" for ghosts along the way. read more

Giving two stars from the adults in the group was generous. Only reason we are giving two stars is because the kids enjoyed it. The tour guide DID NOT have his historical facts correct, example... electroshock therapy did not occur in the 1700's. When another guest tried to clarify.... he argued. Embellished stories were not accurate (internet is an amazing tool for fact checking), and his medical descriptions were woefully inaccurate. Architectural descriptions of buildings were also inaccurate. We were unable to enter buildings which was not in the descriptions on the website. The tour guide said "ok guys" so many times that if it had been a drinking game we all would have been drunk after the first stop. Overall I feel that I wasted a 170.00.... and would NOT recommend wasting yours. There is another tour in Williamsburg that actually allows you in the buildings, try that one. read more

Really enjoyable tour of 6 or 7 sites on the Colonial Williamsburg grounds. I can't recall the name of our guide (late 20s/early 30s with a beard) but he did a great job of explaining some of the grizzly facts and paranormal experiences around the sites. Nice way to end an evening in Williamsburg. read more

My husband and I took the Colonial Ghost 1 hour tour at 8:00pm. I cannot remember our guide's name (Thomas?) but he was training Rizzo, who was shadowing him for the evening. We arrived at 7:45, and were greeted & checked in, only took a few moments to gather everyone ( we ended up as a group of 15 or so). Our guide was great, he told interesting and slightly creepy stories; nothing too scary but still very entertaining as we walked through the streets of Colonial Williamsburg. We did not have anyone in our group who was on the extended tour, so our guide spent an extra 1/2 hour with us before he had to leave for his next tour. Would definitely recommend this, and if I'm back in Williamsburg again, I would do another tour with them! read more

Our group did the regular tour with the extended bonus at the end. The extended bonus adds an extra 30 minutes for an extra 5 dollars a ticket and it's worth it. The extended bonus goes onto the campus of William and Mary and it's very interesting to hear the stories. Our tour guide was Gary and he was very good. He knew a lot of stories and had pictures to show as well. Wear comfortable shoes because there you will be standing for approximately 1.5 hours with the regular tour or a total of 2 hours for both tours. This is something fun and neat to do in the evening hours of Williamsburg. read more

If you want a real ghost program, go with an official Colonial Williamsburg program. I made the mistake of going on an outside tour group and it was bad. The stories were blown out of proportion and they lacked documentation of their information. Colonial Williamsburg takes you into buildings and has documentation on all their stories. I'll definitely stick with making sure it's an official Colonial Williamsburg program next time. read more

It was honestly terrible. Our tour guide was not in any kind of character nor did she elicit any fear or excitement. I was really looking forward to the tour and couldn't find anything redeeming about it at the conclusion. I was ready for it to be over, will not be doing it again. I do not recommend it to anyone. This consists of walking around hearing a guide tell ghost stories about various and sundry buildings on the William& Mary campus and in colonial Williamsburg. I got good exercise walking but our tour guide was monotone and not very good at storytelling which obviously is the main thrust of this activity. read more

I really enjoyed this tour--we did the extended version. The tour combined my two favorite subjects-history and ghosts! Our tour guide was very interactive. I can't remember her name, but mentioned she was previously a teacher, which was apparent because she was very knowledgeable and engaging. Great tour overall and my boyfriend and I were even able to capture a few orbs and other interesting pictures. We also rented an emf for $6 which went off at the same time as another group when close to the cemetary. You do not go into the buildings, but I think it is still worth it to hear the history of Williamsburg and famous ghosts of the area. I would do it again for sure! read more

Do not do this if you cannot walk for an hour, or you are looking for real ghosts or real action. 5 stars because this was great for the kids (8-12). This was my 2nd time using Colonial Ghost and I was so embarrassed!!! I had friend fly in from Texas and North Carolina and the tour was supposed to be the highlight of our trip. The girl didnt know the history very well, she claimed there was supposed to be another guide with her because our group was so large but instead it would be just her. She couldn't even walk without gasping for air so we missed several stops that we had hit the 1st tour I did last month. She started to tell stories and said but thats too scary so I don't want to talk about it. Half the people that were part of the tour left early because the girl was so terrible at presenting the history and stories. We had 8 people and all of us left disappointed! On a Saturday night you need someone who is on top of their game! 1st tour last month was with a gentlemen mid 30s with glasses and facial hair. He was amazing!!! In town for business and decided to take a tour. Always wanted to and never had. Stacy was our guide and she was awesome. Very knowledgeable and nice. I took the 10 pm tour and had a great time. We just finished our ghost hunt with Stacy. She was extremely informative, attentive, and just as excited as the rest of us. She ensured to answer all questions to the best of her ability and even took us to the Peyton Randolph house when we expressed excitement. She mentioned that it was her first hunt, but you couldnt tell. She was a better guide than some seasoned employees with other tours. This tour was clearly a problem from the start. With over 60 attending the Ultimate Extended Tour on Fri Oct 13th, this organization still felt one guide would be enough. While the weather (and ghosts) were less than good, the one thing this company could have resolved was the extended time standing around waiting for the rest of the group (including screaming toddlers in strollers) to catch up. This tour ended up taking nearly 3 hours and by the end, at least half the group had given up. This should have been split up in to 3-4 groups. Spending $118 (4 tix) was a waste of money. Do not use this company unless they change their tour structure. read more

I've heard these ghost tours vary and depend on who your tour guide is. We loved this ghost tour, especially because of our guide Rick. He was great at telling us historical tales of different buildings and people but also was suspenseful in how he told them. We took our 8-year old and 5-year old and they both really enjoyed it. I've been on many ghost tours, and anyone who's been on them knows how much of a difference your guide can make. I was so disappointed in the guide we got this time (Dylan) that I debated leaving partway through the tour. He told the stories with a flat affect, was too quiet to hear, stammered while he was telling the stories, forgot details that he had to add in later, skipped at least one stop that was listed on the site, and was more concerned with his witty comments and jokes than he was with telling the ghost stories. We passed the other guide's group once and the guide was loud, emotive, and engaging. We debated sneaking into his group when we passed them, but ultimately didn't want to hurt Dylan's feelings. He was a nice enough guy, just think he should find a new nighttime gig that doesn't involve public speaking or audience engagement. Side note: we finished the tour at 11:45 which is 15 minutes earlier than advertised for the extended tour. If you go, look for a guy with black hair and a nose ring, then choose a different group. read more

Took the 10pm tour and had a good time. It's more historical than a ghost tour but I liked that it wasn't staged. The tour guide was friendly,upbeat, and knowledgeable. Don't go in thinking this is going to be something where you see paranormal activity. Go in expecting to hear stories of otheres accounts while visiting these historical sites. One star was taken off due to not being able to find it very well and a few other minor things. Overall good experience and fun to do! read more

Good tour full of good historical info not ideal for small children or babies. A lot of walking and just like anywhere your not guarantee to see ghost just walking around or looking out the window. read more

My 10 year old son and I greatly enjoyed this tour! We went on the 9 PM tour and rented an EMF, which he loved (and we had multiple readings). Our guide was knowledgable and gave us a great combo of history with the ghost stories. What I loved the most was this didn't feel cheesy or showy, but quite authentic. Our whole group witnessed the curtain at Bruton Parish moving sporadically from this window ... no air conditioning on and no explanation. This ghost tour was very informational and funny although the tour was 30 minutes longer than anticipated. I was amused by the tour guides stories. They were well made up. She was very peppy and seems to have a great connection to the house- or so she says. Was not able to see whether her stories were true though. If you go with the red head, walk on the lawn. My husband and I were considering doing the 10pm tour. I went through the steps to see the cost. We decided against it and I never confirmed or finalized my card. In fact my phone died in the middle of it. I was charged somehow. Same day I called, emailed, and messaged to ask them not to charge my card and they did not respond. I called again today and was told too bad. Very bad customer service. Our friends took the tour the next night, said we were Lucky we didn't go cause it was terrible anyway, boring, long and definitely not haunted like at all. Disappointing read more
