John Knox has a great reputation in the Lee's Summit community for a reason. All social workers, directors of nurses, nursing staff, housekeeping, maintenance and cafeteria workers go above and beyond in the good care they provide. And it's all because they care. I've not been shy about expressing my brother's needs and my concerns. I always receive kindness and appropriate action from everyone. My family is very blessed that JKV is caring for my brother. DON'T BUY IN... Save your money and keep your future options open…read more Independent Living at John Knox Village is very satisfying for most residents. On the surface, the atmosphere and grounds are very inviting and conveniently located near shopping areas. As time moves on, however, and assisted living and/or nursing care become necessary, the risk is high that the policies and conditions will disappoint. For example, transportation and activities at the Assisted Living facility, once plentiful, have diminished over the years. The Skilled Nursing Unit at the Care Center, especially Long Term Care, is delinquent with missing medication dosages, very long wait times for call buttons, and high staff turnover, resulting in confusion of dosages and patients. Hearing aids? Staff is commonly not aware of how to insert them or the need to change batteries. Weekends are especially devoid of clinical help. Administration operates on the bottom dollar. They squander resources needed for reforms and additional help so they can build and market to attract new residents. Instead of buying in and paying for future care in the Care Center, parents should carefully invest that money so that they can move to another facility should they become unhappy. Buying in is like buying futures in the market; it is gambling that the future care will meet the needs. The sales pitch is seductive, promising great things that simply do not meet reality. There are PROS: amazing volunteers, without whom JKV would be truly substandard, and the residents, who are very sweet and friendly.

After having experienced other rehab facilities, we were so grateful to have found this facility and team. Our onboarding meeting was buttoned up, informative, and covered ALL the bases. The entire team delivered wonderful, wonderful care -- a MAJOR change from where we had done rehab previously which was heartbreaking and on the verge of downright negligent. Major bonus points for the food and expansive menu, which our mom said was consistently delicious (again, unlike other places where she could barely stomach what was served). I was also so impressed with how clean the entire facility was, and how attentive they were to keeping our mom's bed + clothing + linens always clean (any accidents were dealt with IMMEDIATELY). The staff truly cares about the patients and residents. They're doing God's work, and they have wonderful hearts. You can feel at peace knowing your loved one will truly get the best care.

Park Meadows is close to his house...fast forward...she is 92 years old now ...in hospice and facing her last days... Her friends she made visit her daily in her apartment because she doe not go down to meals anymore.... I cannot say enough nice things about the staff, environment and culture of this caring community. From the minute you walk into Park Meadows, you are greeted by warm , friendly people at the front desk...As I walk to her apartment, residents are calm, content, very at home. Her nurses are competent, caring, professional and always welcoming as they greet me. Her care has always been above and beyond. Our 92 year-old father/grandfather/father-in-law chose Parks Meadow for moving into a senior…read morefacility last Fall (2022). He eventually moved to Parks Meadow in January of 2023; however, it was recommended that he reserve his unit by paying the December 2022 rent. Unfortunately, soon after his move he became ill, hospitalized and passed away in mid-February, 2023. His stay at Park Meadows was only 3 1/2 weeks (late January to mid-February). The family paid March rent as we needed time to remove his belongings from the unit. In all, we paid 4 month's rent for his short stay. Another part of his "singing" up for Park Meadows was a "one time non-refundable" Community Fee - in this case $10,000 listed on page 40 of a 52-page lease agreement. It was explained that the Community Fee would lower his rent over his stay at Park Meadows. The family requested that Park Meadows refund at least part of the Community Fee. as his unit was only used a short time and he did not get a chance to use dining or any other facility amenities. Obviously, the family is very disappointed, and surprised, on the position Park Meadows is taking. Although there is no legal recourse, we find it unethical for Park Meadows to keep all of the "Community Fee" as his residence was so short in time. In speaking to the business officer at the facility, she could only say "it's out of my hands" and "I completely understand". In the end, it feels like a 92 year old man was taken advantage of with a very long and detailed lease agreement and an insensitive corporate entity.

(there are good workers here) Most do not do their job and/or do not know what they are doing. They made me pay lots of money even after I got my husband out of there. They only want $$$$ My husband passed Dec 14 2024. He was at one of the better places, Oxford Grand. They care As for mccrite..So many THUMBS DOWN They should give me my husbands $10,000 back. I will NEVER forget and will be posting every year. I hope no one else is going through this or will have to :(

We had a horrible experience. One night there was a nurse that was so incredibly rude and…read moredismissive to both myself and my mom (the patient) that I spent the night because I didn't trust the nurse to give my mom the care she deserved. I asked for that nurse to not care for my mom in the future. That worked for a few days, but one night she was having issues and that same nurse was in her room. My mom would push the call button and wait for a long time before anyone would come. She waited on the toiltet one time before someone came to help her back to bed. Her pain meds were often given to her an hour later than expected, which would then be hard to get her pain managed. Her room was dirty and i never saw anyone clean it. There were a few caring people. Amanda as a great nurse. Matt was so kind when giving my mom meds. Be aware of Susan, a nurse there. Not only was she horrible to my mom, but I witnessed her being awful to another patient. That was when I knew my mom's horrible experience wasn't the only one. Even when they said she was a valuable nurse.

Nursing care was excellent, they took the time to explain things to my Dad, were responsive to his needs. It was a seamless process and I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a secure and friendly environment for your loved one!

They were there from the very beginning, helping with paperwork, helping me through the difficult times. They did an fantastic job. I would highly recommend this service for anybody who has a loved one in a care facility. It is more than just an extra set of eyes on your loved one. They provide not only a service, but also some of the basic care items they oversee medication's, they oversee personal care. And when it is time for the hospice care, they are with you all the way through until the end. They have volunteers, unpaid volunteers that will come and sit bedside with your loved one and you to help you through the very difficult time of the passing of your loved one. This is a free service. There is no downside to this at all. I am a very skeptical person and I am telling you this is for everyone. I can't think these people enough they made a very, very difficult situation much more tolerable. Period.
