There's a lot here, the park, the zoo, Fairytale Town, picnic benches, playground, plenty of areas for sports, and even performances. There's a good amount of designated parking as well, and while it's an expansive park, it's pretty easy to navigate. We stopped by on an early morning to take out dog for a walk while the weather was still on the cooler side. We explored and kept mostly to the sidewalks. Other people in the park were friendly as we walked past and there were a lot of other people with dogs as well. We noticed that at about 10am the park got a lot more crowded, so we were glad we were on our way out versus just arriving. If you're looking for less people early is definitely better. We had a lot of fun exploring and getting some steps in here.

When my kids were toddlers and elementary school aged, we used to come to William Land Park quite a…read morebit. Just as with furry children, human ones also have tons of energy that must be let out. So instead of having them cooped up, I'd will myself to take them to the park even when I'm bone tired after a long week of work. William Land Park is THE best place to help kids burn off energy so they can simmer down and sleep well after they have all the fun. It's really not a bad thing, I don't want to sound like I'm begrudged to take my kids out to play, but you know how sometimes you just want to veg out at home after work and esp on weekends? Yup. But my wife's always right that it's better to just suck it up and take the littles out and let me run wild than to fight the inevitable and try to keep them occupied at home. So we make the trek and we're never disappointed, even when parking can be challenging (hint: don't go at peak times on the weekend, esp Saturday mid morning to early afternoon). With all that said, WLP is really a great place. It's huge, first of all, with a big free playground on the North West side of the park, then of course there's the Sacramento Zoo which is just the most iconic place in Land Park. Then for littles there's Fairy Tale Town which was really a hit with my kids when they were younger. And when they got older and wanted more excitement, Funderland was the place to be for several years with all the roller coaster and other amusement park rides that were good enough for their age when they still got the thrill of being up and down and thrown around on a coaster or a spinning tea cup or a rocking pirate ship. And it helps that both places are pretty affordable for a fun day out. What's impressive about Land Park though, is that there's something for everyone in this 166.5 acres regional park. I looked up some stats and it features 23 picnic areas, 2 softball fields, 1 lighted Little League field, 3 baseball fields, 2 bantam soccer fields, 1 full-sized soccer field, 1 basketball court, adventure play area (the free playground), tot play area with free wading pool (in the same area as the playground), an indoor community facility, several restrooms, several ponds, a 3.4 mile jogging trail, the Ampitheater, fee-based pony rides, and 5 garden areas including the WPA Rock Garden, 3 groves, 2 parking lots, the well loved Golf course, the Sac Zoo which my kids really loved as kids, Fairytale Town and Funderland as mentioned above. In fact, for awhile I was playing volleyball here every Saturday, it must've been a couple of years from spring through fall and even over the winter if the weather was good and the grass wasn't soggy/ground wasn't muddy from rain. I had a great time playing vball with young'uns half my age as well as those who were quite a few years older than me and yet were so fit they literally kept me on my toes. There were definitely some talented folks on the vball courts and it was all volunteer organized and free to join and play. I might have to go back to it before I'm totally out of commission. All in all, William Land Park is very unique and truly is one of Sacramento's most historic and special places. We drive by often, but don't go there enough, and really need to get out and get some fresh air and exercise on the beautiful grounds of this local gem.

Fruitridge Park is part of Southgate Recreation & Park District here in the City of Sacramento. The…read morepark is hidden behind Fruitridge Community Center and the Fruitridge Aquatic Center. Anyone driving by the park would never have noticed it's being there because it is set so far back from the main street. As you walk along the path leading to the park, you'll be surprised at the immensity of the park ! The play ground itself offers a play area for older children as well as one for younger children. Both play area has slides, swings and climbing structures. Too the right of the playground you'll find a huge gazebo. There were no picnic tables under the gazebo at this time, but I did find a few tables and benches scattered throughout the park. A little further back was a full court basketball court, two tennis courts ( no nets at this time ) plus an huge open play area with soccer goals. What's also nice about this park is that it has lighted parking. Fruitridge Park would be a (4 Star) park if it were in a safer area of town. The park has so much to offer to local residence. If you plan to visit this park, my recommendation would be to visit during daylight hours only ! Enjoy !

The park is quite large and offers so many choices of activities to local residence. For starters they have 2 lighted baseball/softball diamonds, 2 lighted soccer fields, a lighted full court basketball court, covered picnic area with BBQ's, open space area for multi-purpose use, play area for younger children as well as on for older children. They even have a lighted parking lot. The only thing I didn't like about the park was the location. The park is not in an residential area but more of an industrial area, with business all around. But , if you happen to be driving by the town of Florin, don't forget to check out Olde Florintown Park !

I am solely rating my experience of this place because it's where I park to go run and the…read morebeginning of my run is on the trail here! The Sacramento River Bike/Walk Trail used to start here but they have since changed the trail name to the Dan Gorfain Trail (at least that part of the trail at the Bill Conlin Youth Sports Complex is named this). This place is always clean and there's always someone using the field. The field is nicely lit! I love this trail because it loops around to a trail along the Sacramento River and ends at Garcia Bend Park. If you run a little extra to the beginning of the park, it's a good 5k run! Then if you run back to the Bill Conlin Youth Sports Complex, it's a nice 10k! The trail is really flat and all concrete but has great views of the river! It's a nice work out and there are always people walking or biking. It has some shade but the whole way is not all shaded. Overall this is one of my favorite long running routes in Sacramento!

Coach Moy is very knowledgeable and pushes athletes to improve. Jacob is always helpful and friendly which makes everyone feel welcome. Coach Jaden brings great energy and keeps sessions fun and engaging. You can tell they truly care about the kids and their development. Highly recommend this place for any young athlete.
