I love walking through this park. It's surrounded by the local neighborhood and is always bustling with activity. From walkers and runners, to kids on the playground and people taking advantage of the green areas. I love that there are so many trees in the area, so even when the sun is out there's a good amount of shade. The park has a playground, tennis courts, baseball field, basketball court, and so much green space. On our latest visit a stroll through the park was just part of our adventure, since it's walking distance from some great local businesses. We were able to get some fun outdoor time, enjoy some coffee, and do some shopping. read more

This is one of my favorite parks and one I frequent a lot. I used to go here weekly for a good run after a day of work. I have now traded running for working out in the gym, but will try to get back into running for more cardio. The last time I ran here was July of 2025. I try to do at least 1 mile Everytime I'm here. I ran here today and not much has changed-which is good. I was still able to complete my usual route, but it is always hard to get back into running after more than half a year of non running. This park is great for tracking without any tools or apps. One whole lap around the park is just over a mile. Lots of locals walk/run around the park. There's also one basketball court, 2 tennis courts, 1 baseball field and lots of grass areas for groups to play sports. I've seen flag football, soccer, rugby, little league and just people doing sprints and back and Forth. There's also a playground for kids to enjoy, which I've seen in use Everytime I come here. Overall, a good park with lots of activity and generally safe. I can't wait to come back more when the weather warms up. read more

I love Curtis Park! I feel lucky to have it such a short drive away! Nice small playground. There were tons of people play sports when we were there. My daughter enjoyed watching the girls softball game. There were people playing soccer, volleyball and basketball. My favorite thing about it is the huge trees. This park is so nice! I went here for the first time the last Sunday of April for Yoga in the Park. It was Beautiful. Quiet, so very peaceful. There were people walking their dogs on the leash. Kids playing in the grass, a group of people practicing martial arts on the basketball court. Some people were playing tennis and '. We did yoga amidst the trees. It was pretty breezy and there was quite a bit of pollen in the air,but my sneezes didn't stop me and my bf from having a great time. I really love this park and will definitely be back with my puppy. read more

By far, one of my favorite parks to walk/ jog at. One full circle around the park a about a mile radius (actually over a mile) which makes it easy for gaging your workout. The park is full of trees so it's often cooler on warm days which makes for great workouts on summer evenings or mornings. The trail is paved with dirt so it's easier on your joints and most people have their dogs leashed. Lastly, it's tucked away in a cute neighborhood on 12th avenue so most of the patrons are diverse and nice. I'm so happy that the warmer evenings are back because I plan to get some miles in at this park. read more

We've been walking more and hubby decided to drive over and walk the path here at Curtis Park today. It's a very nice park. There were a lot of people out walking and running, it's dog friendly so folks were walking their dogs and they were out in the park playing. It has a lot of shade from all the beautiful trees. There's basketball courts, tennis court, baseball field, and a playground for kids. We walked the path three times. It was a little over three miles. I love that they have trash cans around the path and even have little stations with plastic bags for dog poop. I think every park should have that. Hubby and I loved the scenery and was admiring the homes around discussing the landscaping and different styles. The only thing I didn't really like is the path is dirt and gravel instead of paved. Our shoes and the bottom of my pants were dusty and I was sneezing up a storm. Other than that it's a lovely family friendly park. read more

Curtis Park is one of those long stretches of park that distinguishes Sacramento's older neighborhoods. It's the perfect place for so many reasons, all of the outdoor variety. And it's an especially valuable place during the time of COVID-19, which is when I wrote this review. On a map, the park is long and thin and dwarfed by nearby Land Park, but in person this place is massive. It stretches about five or six long city blocks. On my visit, the place was teeming with outdoorsy activity, from families picnicking to a martial arts class to kids playing basketball. There are a lot of trees, which just enhance the beauty, but there are big open spaces at either end for playing fetch with the doggie or an impromptu game of football or soccer. You can tell the folks in the neighborhood love it as well considering all the runners, joggers and walkers circling the place. Totally kid, dog and, of course, person friendly. My only gripe is that I don't live closer! read more

Curtis Park is absolutely my favorite park in downtown Sacramento. I think it's very understated. It's definitely not one of the ones you hear about a lot. On hot days there's plenty of shade to sit under. If you want the sun there is plenty of space to sit. During COVID-19 there is a ton of social distancing space. The park is deceptively long and very spacious. It's exactly a mile around if you're a runner. There is a gravel trail that goes around it and sneaks through it at certain points. You can also run or walk on the sidewalk that is next to it. The neighborhood is residential so it's nice and quiet and clean. Even when there are a lot of people I find this park very calming. The road that circles Park is very infrequently used. Sometimes I'll run in the street to avoid others during Covid. The charm of this park is both it's old trees and beautiful houses lining it. I've seen people use this park for various activities including sports, yoga, workout classes, memorials, picnics, etc. Highly recommend! read more

I adore living in Midtown, but Curtis Park is another neighborhood where I wouldn't mind living. You can find me here a good portion of the time, as it is home to my favorite person other than my cat and my mother. Curtis Park itself is a skinny oval shaped strip of grass, and the houses that border it are so lovely. I enjoy driving (or lyfting) through to gaze upon the many architectural styles. They even have a DIAGON Alley for gosh sakes. See photo. Quality establishments aplenty can be found in this neighborhood, including Track 7, Hideaway Grill & Bar, Pangaea, Gunther's Ice Cream, Dad's Kitchen, Taylor's Market & Kitchen, and Marie's Donuts will waft you to sugary sleep. McClatchy and Sacramento City College can also be found here, so watch your speed barreling down Freeport if you please. The Quickly location is better than others in Sacramento, but if you would rather boba elsewhere choose D Cup and not Yummy Cafe. If you do enjoy a good crispy noodle in the middle of the night, Yummy Cafe is your exit. Curtis Park is better than Land Park. Real people hang out here, and their noses aren't pointed toward the clouds. read more

Awesome little park tucked off of Sutterville Road and Franklin Boulevard. Flanked on both sides by the beautiful Curtis Park houses, there is a nice dirt path (it's quite matted down and can get muddy when it rains a lot) all the way around the perimeter. I've been told it is about 1.1 miles around on the path. Parking can be a little tricky (I imagine - but I walk/run over from my house so I never drive) - it's all residential/neighborhood parking. They have lots of open green space for dogs to run, there are basketball and tennis courts. There is a small playground with swings for children and a small baseball diamond. There are some benches spread around the park and doggie bags to pick up after your pet. It's not the best lit at night (I prefer to run at night) and trash cans are quite spread out. The community hosts movie nights and other events in the park in the spring and summer months. I like to think of Curtis Park as William Land Park's little brother/sister; doesn't have the size or complexity but it's just as nice. read more

It's been a fantastic place to live. Close to downtown. A safe neighborhood for kids to play and grow up in. Concerts in the park during the summer, walks in the fall, a great walking neighborhood and there's even a great place to eat near by. read more

I am proud member of the Curtis Park community and the actual "Curtis Park" is one reason why. How cool is it that there is an actual Curtis Park. When you go to the burbs, you pass through all sorts of places with park in their name, yet no park! Maybe a playground, but no park. Curtis Park is Land Park without the Zoo and the crowds and the cars and the algae filled lake. It has a great track for running/walking, a nice playground, much open grass filled space, tennis and basketball, and tall tall trees. And really nice people. read more

Oh Curtis Park, how I love to walkaround you when I am on an exercise kick.....which usually runs its course in a matter of weeks. I enjoy how NPR comes in crystal clear on my iPod around the park, and how it feels like Kai Ryssdal pushes me along on my course. When not "power walking", Curtis Park is a great place to enjoy a leisurely stroll with coffee on a Saturday morning. My only gripe is w/ a small group of fellow exercisers, not the park itself - please do not ride your bike on the trail perimetering the park. If you are a parent, this means setting a good example with your kids, and finding another safe place for them to ride their bike. I have almost been hit by you guys - and it is pedestrian trail only. Please ride in the street. read more

Nice little neighborhood park with plenty of grass and a few trash cans. There is a gravel path around the entire park, good for walking, or runners. We came here with our little dog to give her some exercise while we were visiting my cousin in Sacramento. Our dog had a great time walking around the large park and seeing all the other doggies walking around the park as well. Would definitely come back if in the area again. read more

Plenty of big trees. Nice dirt track to run and jog around. Big open fields to play catch or soccer on. Not heavily populated most of the times I've been there unless it's on a weekend afternoon/sunset in the summer when there's live music and the occasional six-four low-rider or classic car. But the real reason I give this place 5 stars instead of 4 was when I met fairly attractive women walking their dog and talking about who would win in a fight - Aliens or Predators. Yes, those sci-fi monsters. So not only will I remember this park for the hundreds of times I've jogged on its dirt track, I'll remember it for those two women discussing sci-fi. read more

Have lived in this neighborhood for quite a while now and love it! The park itself is a great place to run or power walk on the trail, play basketball with the kids, or just come goof off after a long work day. They also feature free music concerts and other events throughout the year. Sadly to say I have not gone to them but plan on changing that this year! read more

My friend just bought a house across the street from Curtis Park and I love it! There's a dirt track for runners/walkers and bikes (1.3 mi). Lots of tall, huge trees to shade you from the sun. Plenty of room for Fido to run around. This is a leash-enforced park and from what I understand, they will issue you a citation if they catch you. Otherwise a great park! read more

I love this park. I run around it about 4 times a week after work and it has a good mix of people here. I don't feel like I am at mckinley park where there are a ton of people that I have to dodge. Around the park is a little over a mile, so you can do two laps and feel like you still got a work out. Plus there are always people there playing basketball and flag football, sometimes there is a pee-wee soccer game going on! Nothing short of action packed :) read more

Curtis Park is a nice long park with a walking/jogging path that goes around it. Lots of people take their dogs here, jog/walk or bring their kids to the playground. This park has green grass throughout so it seems like it's well taken care of. Occasionally there are events here for the public. This use to be a Pokemon Go nest for Magmar but now I believe it's Magikarp. Happy hunting read more

This is actually a really nice park. There's plenty of open space, a full basketball court, a playground for the kiddies, a tennis court and a huge tracklike area where the runners, joggers and walkers roam. This park is fairly easy to find as it is in the middle of a neighborhood. When parking, definitely pay attention to the signs and the speed limits. The playground is a little bit of a puzzle to get through if you don't know how to get in. There's a row of flower bushes that has a walkway in between it. If you follow the walkway, it will lead you to a hopefully closed gate. Through the gate is the playground. There's a playground structure and swings and even a sand pit. During allergy season you shoulld probably take your allergy meds before going to the playground especially since you need to walk through a walkway between flower bushes. The basketball court is a full court and the hoops aren't the cheapy kind you sometimes see at other parks and schools. There's always someone playing basketball. If you want to play, just ask. read more

Love this park and love living in a neighborhood with a central, positive green space! I run around the dirt track often, its about a mile and it's a nice big loop. It typically has people doing the same, jogging or walking with kids or doggies. It's got some nice areas in the middle where people let their dogs off leash to play fetch. Everyone is super nice, even one gentleman always makes an effort to compliment everyone he encounters. It's definitely not as well manicured as Land Park, so playing sports there isn't as nice. The Sutterville side of the park tends to be flooded when it rains, especially with Sacramento getting hit so hard this winter. Other than those little things, it's pretty great. I look forward to all the fun activities in the park taking place in the warmer months! read more

This is a narrow area which is kind of like an oblong track. Many people come here to walk or jog and it is dog friendly which is a plus. The center field is large enough that people often come to play games such as flag football. If you're looking for a simple place to go for a walk I would recommend coming here read more

Curtis Park is amazing for so many reasons! The walk path loop is always active with runners and walkers. It's a great park for dogs. Most people leave their dogs off leash because it's so big and since it's a good neighborhood you rarely see unfriendly dogs at all so you can feel safe with your dog off leash and not too far away. The park is big but not that big and it's surrounded by a road where people drive pretty fast sometimes. It's also a well-known "nest" in Pokemon GO so you'll see some moronic people driving loops around it staring at their phone. The park is so small you really don't need to drive to play Pokemon and it's a friendly neighborhood so you can walk until late at night. read more

You could not ask for a better park than this!!! A beautiful park in a beautiful neighborhood without all the hustle n bustle of bigger parks like McKinley and Land Park. For walkers/joggers the track is a 1 mile loop, there are designated picnic areas, a basketball court and a loooooooong stretch of grass for football, soccer, and pretty much any outdoor sport your heart desires! Great spot for comfort food! the food was good when it used to be crepeville but now there is a lot more selection and the service is outstanding ! The workers are very friendly and the cooks are amazing at making adjustments upon a customer's request! This restaurant provides reasonable prices for huge amounts of food! I just love it read more

One of the great things about living in Curtis Park is that there's no need for an alarm clock. At 7:30am mon-sat without fail begins the symphony of leaf blowers, hedge trimmers, lawnmowers, and other gas powered machines necessary to keep the facade well groomed. The gardeners arrive in an old, loud truck then jump out and grab their gear as if they were a SWAT team responding to a hostage crisis. This is always accompanied by the sweet scent of two stroke smoke wafting in the windows like orange blossoms in the spring. Who needs coffee! Then there's the neighbors...they are so kind that instead of saying hello (and thus having to create awkward banter like "how are you"), they prefer to peer at you through closed blinds. This saves everyone the time and hassle of getting to know yet more people beyond the friends, family, and coworkers that we already have to associate with. I foolishly waved at my next door neighbor recently but luckily he's more level headed than me and did not wave back, thus saving us from potentially having to talk. I really do like the old houses, big trees, and being half a block from a great park...but I have yet to find the sense of community that the area is supposed to be known for. Or do I just happen to live on the same block as a colony of suspicious introverts that hate doing their own yard work...or maybe they're just old and cranky? Edit: I changed it to 3 stars...I just woke up irritated from the incessant early morning gardening. And really, I'm full up busy with the folks I already know...maybe neighbors that stick to themselves are a blessing in disguise. read more

This park is so cute. It was perfect playing frisbee here on a Saturday afternoon. I like how there are tennis courts nearby and it is big and open so perfect for louging on the grass or running around. It doesnt seem like there would be such a nice park here but it isnt in the ghetto and it is in a relatively nice area since it is Curtis Park. read more

I have memories as a kid coming here with my older sister, we would walk around the park on the path, or I'd watch her play volleyball with her friends. I've always enjoyed coming to this park and now that I'm older and living on my own, I'm happy I live not too far from it. I enjoy running here and I always feel safe. I'm never alone, there's always someone walking their dog, mothers walking with their kids in strollers, or kids on the playground. I have also played tennis with my sister at Curtis and that was fun too. There's also a basketball court and an area where you can play baseball. read more
