I come here as a guide with school Groups. This would be like an abbreviated version of the fountain of youth archaeological park. What is different is that you get to go inside of one of the historic homes on St George St to see how a hole has been transformed over a few hundred years of different inhabitants. Younger kids would not find value in this part of the tour but adults would. The kids like that they can climb to the top of the tower, see a cannon ball firing and blacksmith presentation. The adult highlight would be if you get a costumed tour guide with great puns and jokes. This has been a hit or miss due to the ability. The next interesting spot would be the replica is a typical ship called the caravel class. You can see how tiny the ships were that came to the new world. Be sure to check for the free admission offers here when they host throughout the year when there are re-enactment and encampments etc. events via Visit St Augustine web site. The highlights for

My friends and I really enjoy the colonial experience!

I have visited St Augustine so many times I cannot count. But I never experienced the Colonial Quarter's until this past Mother's Day weekend. A friend was in town from S Florida with her mother who wanted to learn some history about the oldest city in the US. Tours run daily at 10:30 AM, 12 PM, 1:30 PM, and 3 PM and the tour last 30 to 40 minutes. Our tour guide started with a song and some background on Colonial life. Then we moved to the armory where we saw a gun made of wood. We saw a blacksmith demonstration which was quite captivating. We learned how they fed air to the fire in the furnace while heating the metal to a hot enough temperature to bend. We toured a home that was more than 270 years old. The home was decorated as if it were Colonial times. Right down to one of the first indoor toilets (wooden seat with an opening for a bowl);) We saw a row of flags that had all been flown over St Augustine at one point in history. Nextdoor was a boat that was a replica of something used to travel from Europe to America back in the day. We learned they put sheep in harnesses and hung them over the side of the boat or from the top of the sails during transport to the new world. Crazy right? The last piece of the tour was my most favorite as our tour guide shot a cannon. Check out my video. Pretty cool! There's also a Watchtower on the bayside of the property if you're feeling like some exercise you can climb up and check out the nice view of the water, boats and Lions Bridge. I would absolutely recommend Colonial Quarter's for locals and tourists!

This place was another tourist trap. They built a small demonstration village by the pirate museum. I have seen better demonstrations in the Richmond VA area. They have a replica wooden shipbeing built. Cannon demo was cool. Not worth the price!

We are homeschoolers and had high hopes for this to be a really immersive educational experience. It was one (very good) guide dressed in period costumes walking you around a very small area. There is a leather shop, a watchtower, a blacksmith shop, one of the oldest houses in St Augustine, a model scale caravel boat and cannon firing. It is a small park and probably not worth the amount spent for a 45 minute tour that the kiddo was done with after 1/2. We had just studied everything so all the information, while informative, was t new to us. He did find the cannon firing interesting as he is a teenager. But after that he was like "can we go?" Can't say I recommend unless they add in more actors and displays. Felt like there wasn't enough.

I came here the weekend of Thanksgiving . If your kid enjoys History as much as my 11 year- old , this is the prefect place for them. WE personally enjoyed the colonial Quarter. My son loved the blacksmith and musket firing demonstration. They make a real attempt to show you what frontier life was like in Florida's first city in the 16th - 18th century. There's are a few game setup and we took the time to play each one. Best part, we were able to enter a restaurant on the other side and had lunch. Once we done, we were able to enter back to finish the rest of the tour. The weather was prefect and not too hot. I would recommend to wear bug repellent, the flying insects can be pesky here.

Stopped in for a quick drink. Anthony was our bartender. Ask for him he was really nice and made us feel at home. Try his margaritas. Yum

I love this place with a passion and the BEST thing about this place is you can come in, buy a drink and sit at a picnic table and listen to wonderful bands for free! The drinks are not free, but entry is. This was about my fourth visit here and they had-by far the best band ever! Rhythm and Blues band. Way to go St. Augustine. You people rock. I can't wait to come back again soon.

Displays include the rack, iron maiden, torture chair, Spanish boot, pillory, barrel for drunkards, scales for determining witch status, and more. The 100+ items are replicas or recreations, but they're life-size and historically accurate. They also use wax figures to show how the devices worked, which makes it feel even more intense. Only complaint: Price is a bit high and less worth it IMO...

The museum is quite pricey for what it was. It was over $50 for two people to walk through for about an hour. Though I did learn about some methods of torture, I had already known about 90% of what was shown, so I didn't feel like my money was well spent. However, if you're morbidly curious about some twisted history, this is an informative museum. You scan a QR code to listen to each display with stories of people's experiences. It's a heavy museum for sure. If the museum was cheaper, I'd definitely say it's worth a visit. However, it does come off that it looks like a cheap haunted house at times (without the jump scares, of course). It's fine for one visit and we did enjoy walking through. The staff here were very helpful, welcoming, and friendly.
