We had an absolutely fantastic experience with this transportation service for our trip to Yankee Stadium! Coordinating travel for 17 family members is no small task, but everything was handled flawlessly from start to finish. The vehicle was clean, spacious, and incredibly comfortable--perfect for a large group. Our driver was professional, friendly, and extremely patient, especially when we hit a 4-hour rain delay at the game. Not once did we feel rushed or stressed about timing. I don't know if we were just lucky or they've made improvements. I have no complaints about our ride from JFK to the Melville Marriott. I was in Walgreens parking lot on 10/23/2020 at about 7:00. I walk out from shopping and I watch a Colonial Cab drive trying to park and he hit my car. When I called him on it his reply was "I barely hit your car". What the hell kind of answer is that. This guy was clearly impaired!!!! I took a photo of the cab. The plate number is 13633-TY. SHADY ... I had to call a taxi for a 2 mile ride to the Ronkonkoma train station... he quoted $16.00!! My car would not start and the train was in 45 minutes when the dispatcher said he is on his way I did not realize that meant 30 minutes later ....when he dropped me off he did not have change of a 20 and since I was in a hurry he did well and as I got to the Platform I watched the train pull away....I can get a taxi from Queens to Brooklyn almost twice the miles and pay $15.00 with a debit...SORRY COLONIAL CROOKS!!! Don't use this company!!!!! I just moved to the area and used them 4 times in one week, as I travel often for my job. Each time I was quoted $120 to JFK from Lindenhurst. On my final trip I was billed $144. When I called to ask why I was told cabs are $120 and town cars or suburban are $144. I only requested a cab and on top of that, the car I was picked up in for a whopping $144 was a small white crossover vehicle that was absolutely filthy. Please also note that you can evidently see on my receipt $120 crossed out to make it $144. I was told by Karen that I would receive a call back after speaking with the owner. I never got the call and the company hasn't answered my phone calls since. There is definitely some type of scamming going on with this company. I wish I had read the other reviews sooner. You'd think with the world of Uber and Lyft they'd try to be a decent company in order to keep customers. Avoid at all costs! Update: Spoke to the dispatcher who told me that the company was aware of the overcharge and would take care of it in the morning. I had a very bad experience with Colonial Transportation. I was met at a gas station for a ride to the airport. The cab arrived with an additional passenger riding in the front. As we pull out of the gas station I realized we were not driving to the air port as requested- but to a privet home. The home of the additional passenger who it turns out is an employee for Colonial. After dropping him off we continued to the airport. Never once was I consulted if the additional stop was acceptable. I was paying for a service and it was not rendered. I felt unsafe. read more

I took this transportation from the train to the ferry and the irresponsible driver never checked to close the back door of the shuttle. My luggage fell out and was lost. There were people honking at us to tell us the door was open and things had been falling out. I was dropped off and had to asked the driver for his info. I have been calling their office for about 5 days now and they have been rude and unprofessional. They keep saying someone will call me back and no one has. I lost a lot of valuable things in my luggage. I had no clothes for 4 days while on vacation. I spoke to the manager because I walked over to their office and he said he would talked to his boss and I would hear back. Nothing. I think the place can careless they lost my luggage and will not replace what they lost me. I've never had an experience like this in my life. If I could make it zero stars I would. I called this company to pick up my senior citizen in laws from the airport late at night, as I was at work and my wife was home with two small children. Called early in the day for an 11:30pm pickup at MacArthur. Was told by the person at Colonial that they would be there. He asked that my inlaws call when they landed and even asked for their names and a number to reach them. Their plane was slightly delayed but landed at 11:50pm. They called as instructed and nobody from Colonial showed. They called again after retrieving bags and still nobody from colonial showed. They then called me at work and said they were stranded and there were no cabs to pick them up. Thankfully the police at airport helped them out and got a cab from another company to take them to my home. Thank god for our police and don't ever use Colonial Taxi. read more

I really can't understand how this company is still in business... I just wish I thought to read the reviews before booking this "professional" taxi service, because everyone seems to have the same opinion as me after using them. Last Sunday I had an early (8AM flight) for a work business trip (my first trip with my new job - not that it matters, but it made the stress even worse for me). I called the day before to schedule a 6AM pickup with Colonial... I was assured they'd be there a few minutes early and was quoted a $120 fare for a 45 minute ride. When no one had shown up by 6:10 the next morning, I called them to see what was going on... was told the driver was "in the neighborhood" and would be there soon. I ended up calling 3 more times (one time to be put on hold for 5 minutes, and another to be told the driver "turned his phone off"). By 6:30 I'd had enough, called to cancel, and had to have my husband rush me to the airport so I wouldn't miss my flight. It is ridiculously unprofessional that they never even bothered to let me know they would be late (or lost, or whatever was going on), even though I had provided them with 2 contact numbers. I'm just lucky I had someone home to drive me, otherwise I would've missed my flight for sure. Who would even think to worry about them not showing up when you've paid $120 and have a confirmed, pre-arranged pick-up? DO NOT USE COLONIAL... especially, like a few other reviewers mentioned, for anything important. I bought a package deal that included LIRR, Colonial taxi fare, and ferry. My ticket specifically says "taxi" on it. When I arrived at the train station all the taxis refused to take us to the ferry even though I had purchased tickets for it. They made us wait for a shuttle bus instead which did not arrive or leave in time for us to make the scheduled ferry ride. Horrible horrible service. Do not pay for this scheme. read more

I booked a wine tour with Colonial Translation and it was even better than I hoped it would be! We went for a more sophisticated bachelorette party, and it was perfect. Before I even talk about the tour, Rose, who I reserved with, was very responsive and accommodating when someone had to drop out a week in advance. Patrick was our driver and he was so friendly and courteous. He arrived 15 minutes early and got us home on time, so we had time to change before going out in the evening. We went to three wineries with tastings reserved for us. Patrick just went in ahead and checked us in at each place. The wines were great and so were the wineries. He even took us to a nearby beach when we had some time between wineries! The second winery had sheep outside, and we had our boxed lunch on the deck. There was plenty of food for us, and the place was even selling delicious brownies and cheesecakes which we bought for dessert with our fruit which was included. The last winery was much more crowded, but had a good band and it was also a horse sanctuary so we got to pet some beautiful horses! Female bus driver with red hair is the worst! Avoid her bus at all cost, she has a reputation of purposefully delaying the bus and ultimately causing passengers to miss the ferry! This is the third time she has caused us to miss the ferries. Whatever "agreement" the bus company has with te "bar" at the dock isn't worth having upset guests. This morning the bus was completely full and she stood outside on the telephone for 4 minutes. The first bus pulled out at that time and she finished her phone call before closing up and pulling out of the parking lot. read more

Often Colonial is reliable, but today I reserved a cab ahead of time from the Sayville Ferry to Mac Arthur airport. I was in the last 20% of people getting off the ferry. Once I got to the only Colonial cab in the lot it was full of people, I asked the driver "Where is the cab for (my name?)" he said "Now you're here? I already have three guys going to the airport. I'll call for another cab." It took 20 minutes for another to arrive. I often book a tight connection from the ferry to my flight but fortunately had time. Lesson: A reservation with Colonial is *not* always a reservation. Be sure to add time for a backup or to call another cab company. read more

Colonial Transportation helped us out when we were in a bind. Another transportation company in the area was supposed to pick my family and I up from JFK airport, but when we arrived they were not to be found. After calling then and being placed on hold 4 times they finally stated they lost our reservation. I then looked online and found Colonial's number, gave them a call, and within 5 minutes they dispatched a nice SUV to come and pick us up. The driver arrived very fast and was very courteous. Today after 45 minutes waiting for a cab it finally arrived and before get to my destination he stopped in 2 more. When I asked the driver if he was going to stop more, he just screamed on me saying: "Don't tell what a F.... I have to do, I am following the Dispatcher order. This not a way to talk with a client. I contracted the company to do a pickup for my wedding on the North Fork on Saturday night. 9.19.15. When they were not there by 10:20pm for a 10:30pm departure I called to see what the story was.... I was told five minutes... Called at 10:30pm... told 5 minutes again... called at 10:40pm... you can see where this is going.. I had to arrange alternate transportation for about 15 guests ... ON MY WEDDING NIGHT... which needless to say caused me to spend more money and caused more aggravation. I called and told them to turn the bus around as I no longer needed them, I got a ridiculous attitude from some guy who clearly hates his job and or life (not my problem), and better yet they charged me for the service which was never provided. Stay away, especially for anything important which you need to be on time for. Wish I could give negative stars. Now don't you think that the bus should have been there by 10:20 for a 10:30 departure? Terrible, terrible company. I don't know how they are still in business. Horrible from top to bottom. I booked a van to transport my out of town wedding guests from manhattan to Long Island because their prices seemed reasonable. On the day of, their van broke down. However, instead of contacting me to let me know to make other arrangements for my guests, I was only made aware of this incident when my guests arrived at the wedding venue. No phone call to me to inform me, no offer to my guests to have another vehicle pick them up. I called them later that evening to make sure my guests would have transportation to take them home (this was already paid for prior); the person I spoke to showed no remorse. I told him that I had paid already and not to place another charge on my card. When I looked at my bill the next day, of course I had been double charged. I called to complain that day about the double charge and not being informed of the van breaking down. There were no apologies. They kept telling me that I needed to speak to their manager Silvio. I left several messages with them for him to call me back. No call back. I sent him an email to call me back. No reply. And of course the double charge stayed on my bill until I asked my credit card company to step in. Til this day I have not received an explanation, or an apology from this sorry excuse of a company. I filled out the online quote request form on the Colonial Transportation website to get a quote for transportation for my August Wedding, and no one responded to me. However, a week later, I received a quote from another transportation company. When I called to see if they were somehow affiliated with Colonial, they told me they were not, but that they had received my information from Colonial directly. Their guess was that Colonial had no availability and just forwarded all of my personal info to them. Colonial didn't even have the courtesy to call me back and tell me that, let alone ask if I wanted my information shared with another company. Totally unethical and wrong. Good service to and from the airport but drivers don't usually have receipts on them which is tough for business travel when needing to submit expense reports. I've been calling to have them email me one but still no luck, they just keep taking my info and nothing. I'm going to keep trying but can't in all honesty use them again or recommend them until its resolved. Also it's good to have the receipt because they unknowingly add a tip in for the drivers for airport travel on top of all the other surcharges. read more

Horrible! Asked for a town car to the city the night before surgery. Car was FILTHY on outside and inside was filled with smoke smell. I could smell the smoke smell in the drivers clothes as soon as he got out of the car. Called to complain and offered me no compensation except to wave the drivers gratuity despite the fact that he represents THEIR company. It was DISGUSTING. Not the greatest taxi/car service I've had or experienced. First off, I bought a deal from LIRR which included round trip tickets for taxi to the ferries from the train station. At the station, there were no taxis available. There were taxis parked, but no drivers. We waited for 20 minutes until finally we walked to the place, a few blocks away, and talked to the person who was sitting at the desk. He did not wanted to be bothered and sent me outside to talk with someone sweeping cigarette butts off the floor, and he said the tickets only work for a bus, not the taxis and that we can take a taxi, just tell the taxi driver that I said to take you guys to the ferry regardless. So we walk back to the station, and there was this rude, overweight cab driver who was extremely rude, and would rather eat his ice cream, which was dripping all over his face and t-shirt, than help us or take us to the ferry. "I don't care what he says, it's $7 from here to the ferry". We ended up sitting on the side and finally saw what looked like the bus they were talking about, and we got on. Small bus, and it runs so infrequently. There's no sign, no nothing to let you know about where the bus stops, the people and taxi drivers don't want to help at all, next time just take UBER or walk. The only good thing was the driver of the bus, a red haired woman, who helped us understood the bus, train and ferry and how they all work in collaboration with the timetables and arrivals/departures. read more
