Sure, you can get stuck in line here (don't be a fool and come on a Saturday afternoon right before Christmas) but usually I am in and out fast. When I do get delayed, it is because some idiot brought a bunch of packages likely containing batteries and perfumes and bombs and needs extra insurance on each of them... so they take a while. There isn't much the USPS can do about staffing for these situations anyway. So, just come at non-lunch hours and you will have no problems with this place.

I get it. I've been to plenty Post Offices in my life to feel the same. This place, however, really is different, and special. Why? Well, maybe for me because it is hidden in a popular strip mall just minutes from my work. That means not only can I take care of postal stuff quickly at lunch, I can also grab a bite and still be in time for my 1:00pm meeting. Also, I don't know if it is because of the location, or that people just don't mail stuff any more these days, but there is hardly ever a line. It is a tiny spot, not like the Post Offices in Down Town Albany, but it still has everything, and the Postal Workers at the counter are always pleasant. My favorite thing about this post office, is that they are open Saturday until 5pm. That is always nice when I need to take care of some mailings on the weekend. You won't find many other post offices open all day Saturday, which leads me to believe many more people appreciate and use this location. And, like I said, if going on a Saturday, I always pick a nice place to eat in the plaza, which has many.

If nobody is sending mail anymore, how come there's often a line to see a clerk? Maybe I'm coming at the wrong times. At least the lines tend to move pretty quickly. I do miss the grandeur of old classic post offices. Those were fancy places. But Stuyvesant Plaza is pretty fancy in its own way. Perhaps, one of these days, the rent will be just too damn high and those pennies we spend on postage will no longer cover the costs for this outpost to stay open. That would be a shame. So I'll try to be happy with what we've got, and save the romantic idealism of the post office for the movies.

Despite their having the item to deliver for over 20 days and scheduling two different delivery dates, the continue to fail in making the delivery. To make things worse, there is no communication except to schedule and no answer at the contact number later in the day when delivery was expected. If you like your customers choose a different company, this one is bad. After scheduling a 1-5 delivery with a 1 hr notification call the driver calls at 8pm to ask if they can deliver. No longer available I have to call to reschedule. Two days later is the soonest. Why? After asking to be the first delivery of the day I'm told that 9 will work--they load around 8 and are only a few miles away. Delivery day--waiting to go to work--phone call in advance. Will be there closer to 10. Driver says items are badly damaged. Has to bring them for refusal. Really? I doubt they received damaged items. Why didn't they say anything? After almost a month? I could have reordered and had it here by now. I understand that things happen, but they have control over their customer service. Not a good business.

The Post Office has parking for customers which I appreciate because you have to pay to park on the streets. Open entering they have all of the priority envelopes and packages to choose with the prices which was quite convenient because you don't find that consistently at all Post Offices. They also had a pen which was great because I forgot mine in the car. The Post Office was not busy at all which I appreciated at lunch time. Once I chose my envelope, filled it out and went to get on line there was no line so they immediately served me and were friendly which is something I do find at most Post Offices.
