This aligns Homestead Hearth with Harpers in Overland Park, Kansas. The thing that doesn't align this shop whatsoever, with any other quilt shop I've visited, is the fact that the employees are kind of, snippy. I've dropped a kind of good yarn shop down several stars for snippy employees. I found one nice employee. The rest, not so nice. When people travel to your shop from other towns, cause you have a known well known shop, don't look up and say, "yes," then look down. Are you not proud of your shop? There's thousands of quilt shops in the country, and you are one of the top 100. As for content.....mostly home spun type fabrics, country fabrics, nothing bright, nothing spiffy, but beautiful quilts sewn perfectly. Gorgeous samples. The store winds in and around....but no pictures are allowed anywhere. None. I'd not take one of their quilts, I understand the copyright, but when you are from out of town, and planning to possibly buy something to create a finished product, the finished product is hanging on the wall, usually you are allowed to photograph. Trust me, after I experienced one, then 2, then 5 snippy raggy employees, why would I bother? Top 100 quilt shops? Make this one number 100 and skip it.

Four days later they texted and asked for my granddaughter's mailing address and charged me $25 to ship it. This was in June. I have called several times. They originally told me it had shipped. I waited a couple of weeks, still no plate. I called back many times. I asked how it shipped, when it shipped, and what was the tracking number. I keep getting a run around. I am extremely disappointed and will NEVER go back and ALWAYS share my experience so others will understand what an unacceptable experience this was! Needless to say my granddaughter still has not received her "artwork!"

Lisa was wonderful in helping us get started and there were so many great pieces of pottery to pick from. Given that we were leaving in a few days, we had decided to let a family member pick up our pieces when they were finished. When Lisa heard what we were planning, she let us know that she would try extra hard to get them done so we could take them later in the week before we left. She was able to get them done to my kids delight. They were a bunch of fun to create and I would highly recommend trying it. We will certainly be back if we travel that way again.

Her reasoning? She claimed we were "focused on her" and "trying to stay warm," which somehow made us suspicious. What made it worse was that she had been following us around the store, clearly watching our every move, which was uncomfortable and uncalled for. We weren't stealing, causing problems, or doing anything wrong--just existing in the store. Being threatened with police for absolutely no reason was embarrassing and unnecessary. Customers should not be treated like criminals for simply walking around and browsing. I won't be coming back after being treated this way.

We don't live in Columbia so we drove to get it a few days after they said it would be ready and it hadn't been fired yet. We went back again the next week & they explained that the glaze hadn't been properly covered on my (mug) project. So when I hand washed my mug it looked like it had cracks all over it. The next time I hand washed it the handle broke off. I'm so sad after spending several hours making the memory /spending the $ with my daughters. (Their projects did turn out ok)
