Had to go to this shop a twice in a year (per the shady dealerships request) and both times it look longer than expected. First time through it was in the shop for 3-4 months because they were waiting on parts. I had a loaner vehicle thankfully but otherwise would've been screwed. When I got my car back the door panel had been put on improperly and my window wouldn't roll down. The paperwork I got from these extensive repairs was missing a lot of information and felt sketchy. If you are a paying customer I wouldn't leave until you have all the paperwork filled out to your satisfaction. Second time the car was there for about a month just for pictures of damage. They had apparently taken apart the area for better pictures and cracked the windshield. They tried to give the car back without telling mentioning it, we had to notice the damage in the parking lot and was told, in an entitled victim blaming tone, "What do you want me to do? Replace it?" Obviously if you damage the vehicle you need to replace it at no cost to the customer. Seems like the owner does have good communication skills with his employees or a handle on their behavior - I smelled weed and cigarette smoke when I got my car back. Owner is nice but I'm not going to a shop for a nice interaction. I'm going for quality work and unfortunately I didn't find it at Color Zone Collision. read more

I have to admit, that thanks to COVID, Color Zone and I had a misunderstanding. But I spoke with Craig, the owner of the company regarding my concerns, and he painted my car himself. This is a restoration, mind you, not an accident, so the paint had to be top notch. And it is. I am super impressed. So despite some misunderstandings, as I said, the car is now looking like it just left the factory floor and it's 33 years old. This business is solid, and their work is exceptional and of great value. We've had my wife's car repaired after scraping the garage door, and my car after hugging a curb too close. Both were basically minor body damage, but cosmetically obvious. These repairs were ' cash pay' and after getting two other estimates for each accident, Color Zone offered both affordable repairs on a timeline that was convenient. I feel fortunate, that during the last repair, Color Zone discovered suspension damage unrelated to the repair. The damage occurred almost a year earlier which could only have been found with the car 'elevated' to assess and repair the cosmetic damage. This is an ethical business, that provides great value for customers. Yet another great report on Color Zone. They called letting me know the suspension parts arrived earlier than anticipated, and asked if I would like to bring my car in early. Perfect! We dropped my car off for repairs on our way out of town, and it was repaired and ready for us upon our return. Saved having to get a rental. The new parts installed, not used parts, with Craig's team vastly beating the estimates from three other auto shops. He worked directly with USAA, the whole transaction was seamless. I will NEVER go back/recommend this company! I took my car in for an appointment to get the sunroof fixed after having it shattered out by hail. When I went to pick up my vehicle, I was told no work had been done because their glass guy didn't show up. I then had to make arrangements a second day to have it "fixed." When I left, the sunroof didn't open and made a crunching sound. I called the shop and was told to bring it in and they would check the track for a piece of glass stuck in the tracks. Before the day of taking it in, I had also noticed that the glass in my roof had never been cleaned out. I took it in to get fixed completely and the "quick fix" took two days. The glass in the track could not be found and they offered to order another part but I couldn't afford that charge right away. I was told the glass was cleaned out and I could pick my car up or they offered to drop it off as I was right down the street. I decided to have them drop it off. When I was driving home, I had realized the open door sign was not turned off, so I figured a car door was accidentally left open. This was not the case. I had been rear ended and they decided to forcibly open my trunk door (not calling to confirm that they would have to pry it open). I was unaware that they would have to open the back door to clean the glass and if I was told, I would have made the decision if I wanted my door pried open to where I couldn't get it latched. Now my rear door doesn't close, causing my battery life to drain since the light is on, and I can not lock my vehicle. All I ask is for better explanation and communication on what all is being done to fix my vehicle, but instead received the WORST customer service by Craig and told I should have told them not to forcibly open my door. I will NEVER go back to this shop. A cheap deal is never worth a cheap fix. read more

The fender I had repaired and painted by the prior owner, Lake, started peeling in big pieces. I went back to the Color Zone and found out it is under new ownership. Craig the new owner contacted the former owner and asked him to be responsible for his repair, but he said no. Craig offered to take care of it himself because he stands behind his business name. We brought our 2007 Odyssey here after a "fender bender" with the sliding door open, which created minor damage to its front end and prevented it from closing completely. The repair for that damage and the paint job look nice. Apart from that, the full experience was incredibly disappointing. We dropped off the van on August 5th, and we were unable to pick it up until September 7th. The first couple of weeks were a waiting period for parts. What we were told along the way was the parts arrived, then not all the parts arrived, then a piece for the driver's side was sent instead of the passenger side. The owner's assistant returned perhaps half the calls she said she would. After they had the van for three weeks, I went in person to ask when it was going to be ready, because the assistant was very non-committal in providing a response. On that visit, the owner was equally non-committal, describing unhelpful details about the process. I detected what came across as defensiveness (see another customer's review from earlier this year - we thought his experience was an exception, so we thought we'd go ahead and give this repair service a try; I'm regretting that decision). The assistant said they hadn't done a repair like this before - not reassuring! They couldn't figure out how to fix it. When the owner called on the morning of the 5th, he said they had figured it out - all that they had to do was pull out the bottom of the door that had been bent in. It took them three weeks to figure that out?! Along the way, they said they had to order a new slide motor for the door, along with a related cable and another piece, raising the initial estimate by about $650 - oddly enough, I hadn't had any prior issues with the motor. Labor, at $54 per hour, went up from 8 hours to 15 hours - I'm convinced that part of that charge involved my wife and me paying for them spending time scratching their heads about what the problem was. Here on the Yelp page, the owner has posted these words: "Receive a free estimate on your repairs! Make sure you know what you are paying for before you leave our auto shop...." His statement goes on to say that a discount was available for paying out-of-pocket. Don't count on it! No discount for us. Our initial estimate was $855 - when all was said and done, the cost was $1975. One other thing: at one point, the owner asked if I wanted him to repair additional damage to the vehicle (as it turns out, there was a significant dent at the bottom between the back of the door and the wheel well, which initially was hidden from view by the back of the door since it wouldn't close completely). There was nothing about the way he described that damage that clearly conveyed what the issue was; if I had been able to understand what he was talking about, I would have asked him to fix it. Not now. When we picked up the van, the owner didn't take the time to walk us through the repairs that had been made. As I mentioned at the outset, the job done (I'm guessing by their technician) looked good. However, the owner's manner of doing business leaves a LOT to be desired. If you're thinking about using Color Zone for the repair of your vehicle, this is my caution: think again, think long and hard, and think about taking it somewhere else. read more

I bought my car used and the first time I went through the car wash some paint chipped off the bumper. It'd been getting worse for a year but I just didn't think that the thousand dollar plus estimates I'd had were worth it and figured I'd get to it eventually. Well, this past week while I was out of town, I had my boyfriend go get some estimates. When this place told him it'd be only $500 to completely strip and repaint the bumper, I jumped at it! I came back from out of town and was told we were being given a discount because the finishing work hadn't been done quite right due to a former employee's lack of attention to detail. Well, I'd already seen some pictures of the work and it looked perfect to me. However, because of this business's fantastic customer service, attention to detail, and concern for customer satisfaction, I was given a 50% discount for a few extremely minor and barely noticeable flaws. I was also given the option to have the work completely redone for the original quoted price. After hearing this, I was blown away by the perfection this company runs it's business with. I will never again go to another body shop and if I need any more work done, this will be the first place I go to. I inspect to make sure the painter didn't leave overspray, that the color matches and that there's no dripping anywhere around the paint job. He even picked me up b/c it was too cold to ride my bike there and he made sure my car was toasty warm for me when I got in. He felt bad he couldn't wash it for me, but it WAS 2 degrees out. My dad thought it was a good idea to drive my car in the middle of a snowstorm and ended up scraping/denting the rocker panel and front bumper on the right side of my car. No mechanical damage, but major cosmetic damage. I got a couple quotes from a few different companies and the Color Zone was by far the most affordable, like $500 less. They also were the only ones that said they could have it done in 5-7 days when other places said up to 3 weeks! Furthermore, everyone from the guy making the repairs to the woman at the front desk were extremely kind, knowledgeable and helpful. Not only did they finish in 4.5 days, but they did a FANTASTIC job! No one would have known how beat up my car had been only days earlier by looking at it.
