My son has been attending Sandoval a few years now. Sandoval is a little strange. The classes are grouped so for example 1,2 and 3rd graders are all lumped together for 3 years. I did question this method, but the bright side is that it creates some stability in class mates and teachers. It's half Spanish speaking which I feel is a mixed blessing as well. My son is learning two languages but I am afraid he may end up a "jack of all trades master of none" but the verdict is still out. The school is kind of hard to get into, so I think the parents and kids seem to take learning a little more seriously at this school.

The teachers that my children have had from 2nd to 5th grade have all been such excellent educators to my kids and great communicators with me as the parent. Doreen in the office is always extremely helpful. We recently relocated to a different area, so I had to transfer my kids to a different school. However, myself and my kids will always remember the great experience we had at Johnson Elementary.

The principal, while new at GR this year, has decades of genuine experience in Denver schools, and has already created a super productive and lively culture. My husband, son and I have joined our daughter at school for multiple events so far this fall, and everyone on campus has been incredibly welcoming and pleasant in their exchanges. Also, our daughter's academic situation has improved by very obvious and measurable amounts. Our son looks forward to starting kindergarten next year, and we plan on making Grant Ranch our permanent home as long as we live in the neighborhood!!

He let go numerous wonderful teachers and brought in many first year teachers that never been in a classroom before. He gave preferential treatment to many young women, teachers and paras, and on the flip side he treated the older staff members like they were useless. Before he came to the school in 2013, there were 720 children enrolled there. Now there are under 250!The parents would talk to us outside and were very upset about Villareal getting rid of so many good teachers and staff members. Those of us that had to work with him knew that the school would not be able to stay open too much longer because of the way he was running it. Many teachers wrote to the superintend about him, but nothing was done at the time. This man was rude, argumentative, and downright mean. It's no wonder this school is closing.

There wasn't any doubt that they all wanted to stay at Addenbrooke. I have kids who would do well anywhere and kids who need extra attention and motivation. This year, my son grew almost 3 grade levels in reading. He is now at grade level and ready for middle school. I cannot begin to tell you what this has done for his confidence and love for school. Teachers and admins are wonderful. Just the right amount of homework and I am continually amazed at the things they are learning.
