While other local…read moreschools are normalizing, they are telling parents that kids will be wearing masks and social distancing when school begins in August, 2021. By then, most high-risk folks will have been vaccinated. But, CA continues to put the needs of others over the social and emotional wellbeing of their students. There's talk that the kids will be able to "vaccinate their way out of wearing masks and social distancing in the fall." Some parents are not interested in this possibility until more information about vaccinating younger people becomes known. If you don't want to vaccinate your younger students, I'd look into another school.

The Colorado Academy community has helped raise our three boys. But the past couple years they have had issues with Mrs. Mikel. We have never had any issues with bullying, let alone any issues at all. They have been coming home mopey and rather sad most days because they feel bullied by their own teacher. It was hat day at school and Mrs. Mikel was giving the kids a treat for wearing hats and gave all the kids a treat accept my brother. I'm not sure if it was because his hat was from our church or what the case may be but that is one way to make a kid feel less than the others. He was so crushed that "Mrs. Mikel doesn't like him". And that's just one scenario of many. But being a teacher of such young kids, it's especially important to make them all feel valued, and that's not happening in her classroom whatsoever. I am not a person to complain but this is getting out of hand and it's effecting my brother at home now. Just think about how your actions affect the littles, you're supposed to be their safe space, not a place where they dread to be.

The employees of the church and school are tight knit and the education is top notch. Three recesses a day and a focus on the academic basics with an education of the Bible and Protestant Christianity. The school offers a welcome option to the consumerist, pleasure-driven, narcissistic pursuit of happiness taught in public schools. That search for the "Big Thing" out there that's going to magically be the one thing that brings happiness and satisfaction is a hopeless search. This place supports those that have found that the only thing that will fill the hole in our souls is the Holy Trinity. Biblically based school and church that we love.

The teachers tend to be republican along with many of the students however very few teachers make their views known to students besides the occasional slip up. The teachers for 7th and 8th are not the best but after that it tends to get better. One problem some might have is the closed campus. While there being a closed campus on its own is not bad the food there isn't good at all. Your only option to get a good meal is to make your own lunch and bring it to school but that isn't always an option. Also if you want to be able to spend time with your child then don't send them to develyn as the work load is over the top with the principal saying that 3 hours of homework should be the norm. Overall, if your child does not cope with stress well do not send them here. In the end I don't think that this school is right for most people.

Very high standards academically with the highest act scores in the state. It's public and considered an option school with a lottery system. Located in Jefferson county off Kipling and Quincy.
