Walked across the street and did the river walk trail. There's a new restaurant across the street called Whitewater Rooftop... didn't try it but looks great! Parking: free parking in the lot but it did get pretty full Rooms: clean sheets, fridge, microwave, iron, full length mirror... the blanket/bedspread was very thin. Bathroom: 3 very thin body towels were provided, two wash cloths, 2 hand towels. 2 bars of soap, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion... actually provided in individual bottles! Don't see that much anymore. Breakfast: waffle iron, bagels out of a bag (like lender's bagels), some small dry blueberry muffins, bread for toast, cereal, OJ, coffee The hotel itself is very run down and dated. No elevator. We stayed on the second floor. I'll also mention that the hotel is right on the main road so there are loud motorcycles and trucks going by at night. The staff was always available and offered to assist wherever they could. Overall fine for what I was looking for!

The clients and AM staff were occasionally.....seedy, but not threatening. Property's location makes walking to downtown restaurants and bars easy peasy lemon squeezy. Room was comfortable. Unfortunately we had the worst hotel experience we've ever had with this brand. We checked in…read morethrough the Hilton app using digital keys for convenience. When we arrived around midnight, there was no greeting or even basic courtesy. The front desk attendant acted like we were interrupting her night and got an attitude over our reservation--insisting we only had one room when our app clearly showed two. Her response was that she didn't see both rooms because we checked in online. Only after we had all our luggage loaded onto the cart with a flat tire did she tell us the elevators weren't working--and that no rooms were available on the first floor. It would've been courteous to receive a phone call prior to arrival letting us know about the situation. Had we been elderly or disabled, I doubt any assistance would have been offered. As it was, we had to haul a full cart of luggage up three flights of stairs after midnight, without a single offer of help. Once in the rooms, it got worse. One room had only one towel, a towel thrown in the closet, an earring back on the floor, and a strange blue stain on one of the beds. The second room had a broken security lock and a bed that wasn't even made. When we returned to the desk to request a room change, the attendant mentioned there had been "a lot of police activity lately" and that she'd mention the cleaning issues to housekeeping. We've stayed at many Hampton Inns, including in far rougher areas, and never had an experience anywhere near this bad. The customer service, cleanliness, and maintenance at this property are unacceptable. Absolutely avoid this hotel. It does not meet Hampton Inn standards in any way.

To be clear, the woman at the front desk did everything in her power to make our stay great. But someone needs to invest some love into this hotel. We came here for a mountain bike race for one night - the hotel is full and there is only one person on staff. The first room we got hadn't been cleaned and the front office person had to leave the front desk to clean it herself. Room 302 doesn't have a working lock. The king size sheets don't actually fully fit on the bed. The elevator is covered in fingerprints and looks like it hasn't been cleaned in a year. The floors are sticky. Talking to other customers, the rooms seem to be set at 88 degrees. The thermostat in a neighboring room had all of its buttons broken off. Someone had a fridge that wasn't working. Our room didn't like, despite pulling up on it like we were told to do. The pool had no towels. The washer/dryer for personal use is broken. In the morning, we learned that the oven was broken and they couldn't make eggs, sausage or potatoes for breakfast. What was good? The rooms and the pool seemed really clean and everyone was friendly. The A/C in the room is quiet. And they have make-your-own waffles. I hope this place can do what it needs to do to be great.

There's a fair bit to unpack with all of this. All in all I chose this property because the price…read morewas good for this time of year. For starters, the rooms are clean and functional and they do a great job and trying to keep everything maintained to the best of their ability. Some of the bigger issues I think are the fact that this property is probably at least 50 years old? They tout the fact that John Wayne and other western stars had stayed there. Which means this is probably back in the 70s. With that being said a building that old I'm sure it's challenging to maintain that infrastructure and keep it functioning properly. You can tell in some of the rooms where there have been leaks that haven't been patched very well, but they've been patched and they're making an attempt to correct issues. My best description of the property would be to say that it's just a little ragged around the edges. But again it's clean and well kept for the most part. The pool area is large although it seems like there are some missed opportunities there. There are plenty of tables and chairs, however no umbrellas, which apparently are due to just a matter of weather issues and that sort of thing and while that's understandable, Some shade during the day would be nice to have. The pool is small but seems to be well maintained. They have an on-site lounge which has a certain amount of charm, however, like most places these days, they probably are a little understaffed. It would also seem that they could try and cross train a little bit more. We went to the lounge one evening and there was no bartender and we asked the front desk person if someone was working and she said she was probably serving food. At the time the front desk person wasn't doing anything so it'd be nice if she could run back and serve some simple drinks if that was the case. The bartender was new and although she hadn't been doing a long time, she was certainly making an effort and working hard to get everyone taken care of. The other thing about the lounge was on the second day we stopped in, rather than have music playing they were playing a predator movie on the projector. Which I guess if you want to see that movie that's fine, but just some music and bar atmosphere would've been better. The other thing which I thought was odd was most of the staff doesn't wear any type of uniform, so you go to breakfast and there's seemingly some random dude in street clothes serving your breakfast which again is fine because everyone was friendly and professional, but just seems to be a little bit off in that regard. The free breakfast is pretty typical for these franchise type hotels, eggs ,sausage, toast, the make your own waffles, yogurt, juice, etc. The coffee left a little bit desired but again it was free so there's that. We didn't have any food at the lounge, but it appears to be heat and serve and while it looks like there's a full kitchen on property, being in the hospital hospitality business, somewhat myself I understand it's difficult to maintain a kitchen and a staff, depending on what your property is like. Again, everything was clean and functional, the staff was professional and making the effort so I would definitely stay here again.

TL;DR: for the price, it's not a bad place to stay as long as you understand that this isn't a…read moreluxury hotel, it's a quality inn with history! Fun facts: my aunt got married here in the 90's when it was the Cañon Inn, I also got married here in the 2000's, but it was bought by Quality at that time! Our stay was Tuesday night thru Saturday morning. Checking in the front desk gal was sweet and attentive. My husband had thrown the card with the internet passcode on it into the outside trashcan accidentally, so I had to go back down and get that info again from her. I complemented that the room was bigger than the photos showed online (we stayed in a 2 queen room and there was room for our kiddos blow up bed and all our luggage!) The free breakfast was just okay, nothing too crazy, except the waffles were very yummy (when there was table syrup instead of sugar free syrup available) but can't complain too much when it's FREE! We knock a star off because our room was not cleaned and our towels were not replaced, even with asking the front desk, the entire time we stayed. That's 4 nights; and they told me they clean every 3rd day... on the 3rd day, we stayed in our room in the morning and never heard a housekeeper knock or anything... our trash was overflowing and we had to put our used towels in the tub, just so we could use the toilet in the tiny bathroom. The sink in the bathroom did not drain very well, but we only really used it for washing hands and teeth brushing so it wasn't a huge deal to us. The beds and pillows were comfy, the tv didn't connect to the WiFi and therefore could not connect to Netflix, but we had food network on whenever we were in the room. The internet was fast and our kids enjoyed watching their tablets before bed with no interruptions.
