Despite the trailer tire blowing and spending half the day in Farmington NM we finally made it up here and between the kids being back in school and most of the families gone for the season being 55 and a long time empty nester it's perfectly peaceful for us we couldn't be more happy. The staff here is truly amazing and always helpful. There's tent sites and rv spots with full hookups. There's also cabin rentals for family or groups and if I'm not mistaken one is actually pet friendly but you will want to call before making a reservation with your fur babies and the cabins. 8 years of beautiful Colorado and we have our reservation already made for the 2027 seaaon.

The campground is located right on the Dolores River. Sometimes the river is low, sometimes the river is high...all thanks to Mother Nature. The location is truly perfect. About a half hour into the town of Dolores, maybe a half hour to Trout Lake, minutes to Rico and close enough to take day trips to Telluride and Ouray for exploring. The campground itself is spotless. There are restrooms with showers. The front office has a cute little shop with all the basic necessities as well as soft serve ice cream!!! Saturdays are our favorites as the campground brings in warm homemade cinnamon rolls. I miss it already and I just left this morning. If you must, book early, I mean real early, like a year in advance. That's how special this place is, a slice of heaven that I'd love to keep all for myself!!!

I'd already assumed he was busy and content while there because even though he had his phone with him, I hardly heard from him in that time. His session was a good variety of about 17 kids, pretty evenly split between boys and girls, from all around the US. I believe they learned a lot from nice instructors/guides and had fun, too. From a parent point of view, I thought the communication from Crow Canyon was terrific- not incessant but informative, clear, and timely. We were hopeful that it would be a good experience for our son, and neither of us was disappointed in the least- we are so glad he went!

The showers didn't have the best pressure when all six were in use simultaneously, but that was easily fixed by three showering at a time. The water heater also had to be continuously turned on by somebody for it to stay warm, but when it was warm it was great. The views were ridiculously beautiful! I loved going up on the 360° sunset deck, despite the fact that it was too cloudy to see much color. I also wanted to mention that I loved the inclusion of Bible verses on the concrete. Lynn took my three daughters and I on a beautiful evening ride through ranch and National Forest…read moreland. The setting was lovely, the horses were well-trained, and our guide was informative and friendly. We called the day before to see if there was availability and spoke with Perry. He was able to put us down for a 2-hour ride and informed us that they haven't received their credit card reader yet, so I made sure to have cash. One thing I forgot, and deeply regret, is to have enough for a tip as well. We arrived at their wonderful property shortly before 4:00. Lynn was there to greet us and had our horses ready to go after the waivers were signed. She got us all on a horse and adjusted the stirrups efficiently. She is a no-nonsense lady and I admire that. She gave us a bit of instruction and then off we went! We rode along the road for a little bit before turning onto some land by a picturesque lake. Lynn's sweet dog tagged along and provided a laugh when she ran and jumped into the lake. Shortly after, we made it onto Nation Forest property. With the exception of the road to and from the main property, Lynn took us on a varied path. We rode on dirt road in the forest, then cut through trees, up hills, across a culvert, up some pipeline area, and into meadows and back to the lake. The views were wonderful and the peace of the whole ride spectacular. There was one area of trees that felt particularly peaceful and Lynn turned back to tell me how she loved riding through them just as I was feeling the same. It was my favorite part, as if there was a special energy in that spot. Overall, we had a wonderful ride. Getting off the horse after 2 hours was the hard part; I definitely felt like I was walking like a cowboy. :-) It was a highlight of our trip. Someday, we would like to come back and do a breakfast or dinner ride.

We were supposed to have an upstairs room with private bath, but that changed somehow when we arrived. We stayed in the downstairs section, which has several other bedrooms and one shared bathroom and kitchen and living area. Luckily no other guests were staying at that time, so we had it all to ourselves, and it worked out great. Bedrooms and bathroom were extremely clean and neat. Beautiful lot with large patios upstairs and downstairs that are oh-so peaceful!! Spent lots of time talking with Bob, and he was very accommodating and easy-going. I loved having breakfast in their cozy and bright dining area near the kitchen overlooking the mountains and watching numerous hummingbirds come to feed on their upper patio (felt like we were Bob's personal guests). Bob was also so kind to let our dog, LeLa (who is well-behaved) stay in the dining room with us while we had breakfast. We did not see much of Ursula (his wife) as she had to work during the days that we were there, but our brief meeting with her was very pleasant! We highly recommend this place!!!
