Nice clean facility a slight bit off the highway but not bad at all. Dated but cleanly. Well maintained for its age. Glad we stopped.

It's a large area and you can walk a little and have some peace by yourself. Clean restrooms and a water bottle filler. You can tell they've had issues with past visitors who wash their hair in the sinks or fill gallon water containers at the water bottle filler from signage and the security camera system. This is the first time I've been here when there's been an attendant sitting at the information desk. Pretty cool. I loved the displays of Colorado history and the many maps they have. It's a nice welcome home stop with the iconic Colorado sign and bison sculpture, familiar to all who wander through the state. read more

An essential stop if you're visiting Colorado for the first time via I-80/I-76. Location: Easy access from I-76. Just this once, I'll forgive Colorado for putting a rest stop in a town (rather than where you NEED "facilities" and there are no towns nearby) because it's so close to the border. Restrooms: Usually clean and well maintained. Automatic lights may turn off if you're alone and sitting still. Walking: Nice trail up a small hill on the west side. There are benches if you get tired. Dogs: Unfenced "exercise area." Inspect paws for thorns before moving on. Visitor information: The visitor center is open and well staffed during the day. They have free maps and brochures for most of the tourist spots in Colorado. Sometimes they offer free beverages and snacks. Parking: plenty of spaces for cars, RVs, and semis. There are no convenient gas stations or restaurants here. Stop in Ogallala NE or Sterling CO instead; bring your food here and eat it in one of the faux teepees. Advice for newcomers to Colorado: Stopping here is a great way to start adjusting to the altitude. Walk the trail. Drink plenty of water (beginning right now and throughout your stay). Sleep two nights at 5000 feet (Denver or Colorado Springs) before venturing into the mountains. read more

I have taken a lot of road trips in my life across the US. I may be a little biased as well but I will have to say this is one of the best welcome centers/ rest areas I have ever been at. It's got a lot of information , a ton of space to run around and stretch out and is always clean when I stopped. As any good rest area should be, it's easy on and off the highway, brightly lit and easy to access once you get out of the car. I have stopped here and see them even giving horse rides to kids with horses from one of the local ranches. Not sure what the occasion was but it was around July 4th so that could have been part of it. When I made my most recent stop the other day I did notice internet, but I was so eager to get home I didn't test it out to see how good it was. read more

Clean bathrooms (so clean, they were being cleaned while we were there), plenty of well-organized brochures, free state maps and two friendly but not aggressive greeters who helped me find information I didn't even realize I needed. What a nice welcome center. A super sweer volunteer greeted us and offered us coffee. There are a lot of cute Colorado art displays and sculptures. What a welcome sight. A rest area and it's the Colorado Welcome Center. Oh Boy clean restrooms and information about Colorado. Well this place has both it's wonderful. Also has extensive Lawns picnic tables and covered picnic tables for you to stop and rest and enjoy things. There is free coffee inside. The people are helpful and the brochures go on and on and on it's a very nice Welcome Center I like to stop at all of them why you learn things about a place that you would never know otherwise in this place is likewise the case. read more

So, this weekend, I learned Colorado has rest areas! And, this one is HUGE! With clean restrooms that don't stink! And tons of trivia information. And a covered area to chill out while waiting for the minions to finish using the facilities. Also, it's a fun place to take silly photos. read more

I dont usually get to thrilled about welcome centres, but this is one of the most creative, well maintained and informative centers on our cross country drive.. we collected information about ranging from national parks to beer tours.. free coffee, teepee hangout spots, very welcoming staff.. shame on me for getting semipolitical in travel reviews, but tax payers' money at very efficient and effective use.. great job, great place to stop on the way to the Rockies ! read more

What a great pit stop as rest areas go. They have nice restrooms and areas to walk and sit outside. The best part though is the actual welcome center, just down the hall from the restrooms. They have pamphlets, maps, catalogs, and brochures for both Colorado and Nebraska. They also have free coffee in the welcome center! They also have people to answer questions or help you find what you need. It is very well organized by areas of Colorado and is worth checking out! read more

A fabulous pit stop in the middle of not many options for good places to stop. Their bathrooms were clean and well-lit although they lacked any place to fill up water bottles easily. The building also houses a welcome center which is very well-stocked with information brochures about anywhere you could want to go in CO. The best part was the volunteers, though. The friendly ladies were a wealth of information on just about any topic. They could tell you the best places to go and fun things to do at each one. We've loved the ideas they gave us and we've been so impressed by how well each one turned out. There are a few picnic tables under shelter from the sun (thank goodness!) which were clean and in good condition. There was also a little hiking path which was just perfect as an opportunity to stretch your legs. Overall, a sweet little rest stop. read more

My son and his family left from just south of Denver right after Thanksgiving. My daughter in law left her phone in the facility. When they called the next day, the phone had been turned in and was being held. They are sending it to them in Connecticut today!
