We have used Columbia Cab numerous times over the years, either to/from BWI or to/from Dulles when we are flying to Europe. The drivers are always polite and professional and the vehicles are comfortable and clean. Most importantly, we have found them to be 100% reliable, they always arrive when they say they will, even when we are being picked up from Dulles after having been gone a long period of time. Most recently, we realized during our layover, only a few hours before we needed them, that we had forgotten to book the pickup before leaving on our trip. Took a Columbia Cab to BWI earlier this month after scheduling a 4:45 a.m. pickup. Cab, a relatively new Toyota RAV, was waiting by 4:45, driver was professional, polite and a good driver. Big improvement from experience with Columbia Cab a few years ago; will be going back to them from Uber. read more

Called for a cab in EC. Courteous and efficient dispatcher. Cab arrived exactly on time as requested. It was a smaller/older taxi, but clean. Driver was polite and non-chatty (a huge plus for me in cab drivers). The driver did the right thing in not starting the meter until after he had keyed the destination into his GPS. It was a little expensive for going just a few miles locally. For a cab service, it was all winning qualities: quick, clean, courteous, quiet, accurate. Hence my 5-star rating. I'd like it to be cheaper, but this is the suburbs, with long distances between fares, so I can't blame them. read more

Columbia cab was prompt and on time, but the pricing was over aggressive and the cab driver started the timer the second he got to my house. I was told by the driver that the prices were set by the county. So I warn you, the surcharges will kill you. Besides the aggressive pricing, they are cheaper than some alternatives and the driver was somewhat nice. read more

Short story: Find another cab company. The took an hour and 50 minutes to get there and take my student home 5 minutes away. These people are terrible human beings and I did not feel safe using their services. Longer story: I had to call a cab for a student of mine whose parents were unable to pick her up from a school event due to a family emergency. She first called at 735. After a half hour, she called again. they said they'd be there soon. around 910, I called and raised heck. just under 15 minutes later, a driver pulled up. The driver was extremely rude to me and the student and her mother when the student was dropped off at home, 5 minutes away. After several attempts to contact the manager, I couldn't get in touch with anyone. I called several times and left my name and a callback number. Nothing. I felt terrible sending her off in the cab with this awful driver. But I had her call the moment she got home, which she did within 10 minutes, and I was relieved. read more

Had my daughter waiting outside her job for almost a hour ! They are always late ! So we tried to play it smart and book it for about 15 minutes sooner than she needed it but they were still late ! Every time you call them they say 10 minutes away ! Sometimes they have one driver for the whole Columbia !! These people are rude and will hang up in your ear I am just over it ! My daughter needs other options commuting to work as she is learning the bus routes ! Smh read more

I had two very courteous, positive, professional experiences. I had safe trips in clean cars with alert, sober, friendly drivers. That was two years ago- full disclosure. But I thought they were solid and would enthusiastically recommend again based on that. I am totally surprised by the negative review. Avoid them at all costs. We had a driver on New Years take us from K Street to near Friendship Heights and after dropping off two of our friends at their respective residences he tried to reset the meter and charge us the extra 1.50 plus whatever bullshit charges he felt like. (For some reason the extras on the way downtown were only $4 but they were $6 with this dude) I've lived here a few years and I know how much these cab drivers try to screw you at every opportunity so I refused to let him reset the meter. He them yelled at my girlfriend and I to get out of his cab. I asked for his medallion number and he refused. I asked for his name and he just kept yelling to get out of his cab. I noted his number and the company as he sped off with the $20 we had given him to assure him that we had the money to go to Friendship. When we called in to report this to the company they told me that there wasn't anything they could do because they only rent the cab out. The guy I talked to said that they'd have to look through his record and if he had enough complaints that they'd talk to him. No apology for the terrible service or for their cab driver that made my girlfriend feel unsafe. Apparently if its after midnight in this city you can just expect to be cheated and extorted by the cabs in this city. If you see a Columbia Cab numbered 33 you should avoid it like the plague. read more

Cab is never on time when I call and schedule pick up with Dispatcher. Last trip, I called and Dispatcher told me driver almost there, second call, the driver had a flat, next nearest driver has been dispatched. 4th call, cab 25 minutes late. Was told Driver would call me directly. I left for airport in my car as I did not want to be late. Driver finally called me 20 minutes later, 45 minutes after scheduled time. I had already driven myself I got to my flight as they were closing the doors. Usually, Comptuers are down and they never dispatch driver. Never had a bad experiance with the drivers themselves, most are nice and get me to the airport without issue. I found a few that I now call directly and bypass the dispatcher. Howard County needs more Cab companies so I can stop using this poor excuse for a Cab Company. read more

Do NOT use this taxi service. The driver was overpriced, extremely rude, and drove dangerously. The driver barely spoke English and had a creepy attitude. He didn't even take my luggage into the trunk. I will report this service to the Maryland Transportation Office. The car was in terrible condition and I was scared the driver was going to crash because of his reckless driving. The driver actually ran another car into the shoulder of a lane because he wanted to pass him. Are you serious?? With a passenger in the car??? And you want to charge HOW much?? This is ridiculous. Extremely inconsistent service. I'm an avid customer and I ALWAYS tip my drivers well should they do their job correctly. (Arrive on time, not drive slow, not pretend they don't know where they're going so they drive up the meter). Today my driver took over a half an hour to pick me up, nearly making me late for work and showed up with hot food in his car. Now I've waited for over an hour for service at 2:30AM after being told drivers went home because of the snow and no one is picking up the phone now at 3:20. Them: "Hello, Columbia Cab. How can I help you?"....Me: "Hi, I'm at the Laurel Library off of 7th Street and need to go about 5 miles down the road to North Laurel Auto Repair."....Them: "No problem, a cab will be there in about 15 minutes.".....Me: "Ok, thank you.".......20-30 minutes later and I'm at the garage. Should have been that simple right? Nope! Whoever answered sounded as if I called the wrong number. I took a chance that a cab was really going to show and it did about 10 minutes later. The driver looked annoyed at me, as if he wasn't there to pick us up. I asked him, he said yes, so we got in. His broken Nigerian(?) english was hard to understand. He asked where we were going, I told him, and he said he knew how to get there. He didn't seem sure so I asked again and got a yes. So, he pulls out of the parking lot heading the wrong way. When I said he was going in the wrong direction, he started ranting that I should have said something before he turned and that it was going to be hard to turn around. I told him that if it wasn't 102F and I didn't have my 8-year-old son with me I would get out here. He kept driving and ranting so I told him to pull over at a gas station that we were approaching. He passed right by it. I had to tell him 4 more times before he finally pulled over while in traffic. He said that it would be no cost and to please let him finish the trip. I had to get my car before the garage closed and it was only another 3 miles away so I said to keep going. We pulled up, I tossed him $6, grabbed my kid and got out. That SOB also got out and said I owed him $3 more. THAT'S THE KIND OF DBAG COLUMBIA CAB MIGHT SEND YOU if you're lucky to get anyone at all. read more

I reserved a cab through Columbia Cab's website the day before I needed it. When I got the confirmation email from Ed, the manager, I emailed back asking if he could guarantee that there would be a cab there at the expected time (early Friday afternoon) because I needed to catch a flight. His response? "THE CAB WILL BE THERE." Ok, lovely, thanks for being such a people person. Well guess what? The cab wasn't there. In fact, it NEVER SHOWED UP. Ed has no incentive to tell cabs to pick people up when they reserve through him, because he gets paid regardless of the amount of business. Real great business tactic. Will never go through him, their website or their phone number (which rings off the hook and never gets answered) again. read more

I've used Columbia Cab several times. I must say I always have the best experiences with the drivers. They are very courteous. The problem I have with Columbia Cab is their dispatch to driver communication. I have requested cabs over the phone and via the internet form and in both instances the suite number of my job was not communicated to the driver or the address is coveyed incorrectly. This causes a delay in my pick up time unnecessarily because the correct information is given to the female dispatcher or typed correctly on the website. There was also an instance where I said I needed a cab that took credit cards and that was not done either. The drivers are courteous and helpful the dispatch needs work though. I hope you take this information and use it to improve on your operation. Thanks. I would give the drivers the highest rating and he dispatch the lowest. So my overall rating is mid level just because of the failing communication. read more

Columbia Cab is the single worst cab company in Howard County. Not only are they rude and inconsiderate, expect for an employee named Sunny, but they charged $1,695 to my account and made it seem like I was an inconvenience to them. When I first called I was told by a very rude gentleman that the manager was not there and told me to call back on Monday. At this point my rent check bounced and my account was in the negative. I called Monday morning at 8 am and I said who I was and I told him that your company has taken seventeen hundred dollars out of my account, where he tells me "it wasn't seventeen hundred dollars ma'am". So I talk to the manager Edward who is also very rude an acted like I ruined his day with this incidence. I was not until several hours later until he faxed me a receipt of my refund did he actually apologize. I will never use this company again and I am planning on making a complaint to the BBB. read more
