However, some of the professors were unprofessional in their teachings, so I'm not sure how they were qualified to teach. There were also magnificent professors that would go out of their way in order to see you succeed. Parking was atrocious before but I'm glad they have a parking garage now. I wished they would have had that when I was in school pre covid. It would have saved me lots of aggravation from finding a parking space. Yeah, there were many times that if you didn't get there early enough then you would be searching for parking in the nearby neighborhoods. They had many lots before but they got filled up way too fast. Cafeteria was very decent. The food they served was good, average quality but a nice variety. The labs for doing your nursing skills were superb. The simulation dummy was very helpful and modern. It was used to help you understand how a real patient would be. The clinical sites they sent us ranged from hospitals to nursing homes to schools. The downside is they would send me to Rockford one day and then Chicago the second day. They should have organized it a lot better. Clinical instructors for the most part were very compassionate and attentive in their guidance. The ATI program they used was worthless and not a very good tool for helping nursing students. That was a waste of money in my opinion. I didn't even use it when studying it for my license. Tuition was expensive for each semester. For the amount of money they charged, they should have brought in the parking garage sooner and better quality food. I commuted so I didn't have to stay in the dorms. Overall I give it about a 3.

They care about pulling in community members. At the same time: They pour money into full-time advisors who give incorrect advice - for me that included courses they said would apply towards graduation and didn't. They have scholarships that don't require the FAFSA, but what exists isn't listed, figuring out how to apply is a mess, and aid can show up in the middle of the semester which is too late if you're dependent on it. They also list courses which aren't actually taught, and deans are completely unresponsive to student concerns. Worst of all, they spend so much money on administrative positions that around 80% of their professors are adjunct and scrambling to make ends meet with multiple gigs. Hello, your professors are the heart of a good college. But honestly in the end you can get a good education and if you figure out the limitations for early transfer it's a solid start for a 4-year degree

It's a nice since community college. They have big parking lots all over. I still get a little turned around whenever I am there. Then a few years later, after I was kicked out again, I came here humble and looking for a fresh start. I stated by taking photography from the late John Grady, a mentor, a friend, and an inspiration to me and many others. He was an advocate that lead me to be recognized as the artist of the year by the local paper. Because of this momentum, I ended up attaining three associate degrees from ECC: graphic design, general arts, and general science. The faculty was supportive and communicative, especially in the design department. The onsite computer lab, library, and study areas were great places to work outside of class. Even the cafeteria was reasonably priced and had many options. Administratively, everything was seamless and easy to navigate. I met with humans a few times, but overall, much of the process is online. The only reason for the missing star is the inconsistency of skilled and practicing adjunct teachers. I had a few that were away from their fields for over 20 years, which made some of the knowledge outdated. But I guess all schools have that issue. I highly recommend ECC for everyone!

My expectations were met and exceeded. I had the beef tenderloin sliders with seasoned French fries. While not the best food I've ever had, they were cooked well and had a good flavor to them. They were not dried out as I feared. The French fries were good and didn't need ketchup or any other sauces to enhance the flavor. One recommendation that I would make is to add some more signs pointing where to go or how much the food costs.. To someone new to the cafeteria, it was not clear where to go or what was being offered. Overall, the food at Elgin Community College was pretty good. I will go back and try more.

This place is magical. I worked at this camp for four summers and I think I'll always be nostalgic for those years. In all my time there, I've never met a camper who was ready to go when their week was up. Even the kid who sliced his foot open at the waterfront on a zebra mussel and had to get stitches - he was back down at the dock the next day, asking me to look the other way while he did a backflip into the lake (against the rules, but whatever...) Camp rocks. Unfortunately, Aurora University (an actual college in Illinois) bought it out about five years ago and is now in the process of phasing out all the summer camping groups which makes me incredibly sad. The "camp" will now be known primarily as a "college" where people can get masters degrees in things like education and music and recreation. Which is fine and all. Just one of those things you wish could last forever.
