They send you a book for whichever class you are taking. You can even retake your classes. And depending on the teacher, the classes are recorded so you can re-watch them. I just wish it was not to the instructor's discretion to record. I wish all the classes could be recorded. However, most of my classes were able to be recorded. CTS is also WIOA verified, which helps with funding for classes if you are able to get unemployment insurance.

I took the intermediate and advanced excel classes. I was happy with the coursework, the teacher,…read morethe workstation and the information I learned. I know that my abilities have increased after the class. My only contention is that many/most people in the class had overestimated their abilities on excel. This is especially true for the advanced class. I was finished with an entire worksheet while I was waiting for most of the rest of the class to finish the first problem. Essentially, the teacher had no choice but to slow down to the pace of the slowest student while I was chomping at the bit to continue. That's certainly not a knock on the teacher or the education. However, a prerequisite aptitude evaluation would be something to consider.

The gentleman in charge, Paul, is a very nice man and can help you put together a plan over the course of several months that will add some very helpful certifications/knowledge areas to your resume. He's also a great instructor. I had him for SQL, and he was awesome. Some of the instructors are absolutely fantastic. They have both the subject knowledge in addition to real life experience. Some other instructors...not so great. I was unfortunate enough to have a particular instructor for 2 classes. He was horrible. His English was really bad. For example, the word "glove" was written on his slide as "glows"...and he totally believed that was the correct word. He also taught the class from the perspective that we were all on the level of recent college grads, and knew nothing. He'd tell us how to dress for work, and show us videos on how you have to behave in an office. Looking around, I'd guess the average age of the class was around 45. If these people don't know how to dress or behave in an office, perhaps there's a good reason why they are unemployed. I, however, do know all of these things and don't need to have my time wasted with it. Another down side is that the class schedules do tend to fluctuate, probably to accommodate students and teachers alike. For most unemployed people it's not a big deal, but I am a caretaker and work part-time, so it was very hard for me to rearrange schedules at the last minute. Sometimes I simply could not attend class due to last minute changes.

All of the instructors are…read moresupportive, enthusiastic, and great with kids with a variety of educational needs and challenges. The program has exposed my kids to a variety of music they might never have listened to otherwise and helped them learn about the history and foundations of rock, jazz, metal, and pop. I think the focus on performance has helped to keep them from plateauing and given them something concrete to work toward. They're also able to work on personal projects and goals with instructors. Eric, Cyndi, Brandy, and Kyle are very warm and welcoming. I've talked the most to Eric and Cyndi--you can tell they really care about the families of School of Rock. They've also been very understanding of the fact that our family had a really rough winter/spring and sometimes practice fell by the wayside. Mathieu has been an absolute inspiration to my daughter. He's helped her lean into her strengths while nudging her into improving her weaknesses. Ian has the patience and good humor of a saint because my son is not an easy kid to teach. Somehow Ian has figured out a good approach that has encouraged my son to try difficult things without the kind of pressure that makes him dig in his heels. Every performance director they've had has been super encouraging, even when the going gets tough. Johnny, their most recent director, was just the nicest guy even when the kids were struggling. I'm really glad we gave School of Rock a try. It's been a meaningful and positive addition to our lives and I'm grateful for the kids' experiences there.

So much better than a little recital here or there.
