Daphne has been an amazing help with my father's grave. I somehow missed signing up to have seasonal flowers placed on his grave for the year and Daphne assisted me in getting signed up again, told me when the flowers would be placed, and provided me with the next renewal date so I can be sure to sign up in time. Both of my parents are buried here; my father in 2003 and my mother last year in August 2024. I am local and so visit their gravesite regularly. For the better part of a year, I have patiently waited and then struggled to get my mom's death date scroll (a four-digit plaque "2024") installed by means of two screws on her grave. In late spring I was told it needed to be ordered and could take months. Since then, I have visited consistently hoping each time to see that the plaque had been installed but to no avail. Two days ago, I visited on the one-year anniversary of mom's death praying on the way to the cemetery that THIS time I would be pleasantly surprised. But sadly "no". There is a happy ending to this experience, however, and is the reason for this review. When I returned home, I called Columbia Memorial and thankfully spoke to Dan. He listened to my concerns and agreed that a year after my mother's death her gravesite should have been completed. He then immediately went to the grave to get an image of the exact size and format needed and checked the in-house inventory one more time. When none were available at Columbia Memorial, he promised to check the inventory of two other of the company's cemeteries in Maryland the following morning. Early the next morning, Dan called to say that he had found the correct date scroll at one of the other locations, picked it up on his way to work and installed it on my mom's gravesite! I have contacted them by phone 3 times and by email to obtain details to get my affairs in order for my son and they won't contact me back? Are they a rip off? Scam? I spoke to the guy on the phone as well who promised to get back to me and then someone called regarding my email and said I would be contacted at 1 pm the next day and still nothing. My mom is buried here since 2022, That time cemetery was beatiful among the others. Recent years is the place that hard to recognize it is not being good care, A lot of graves are not been seen any morebecause of the weeds and grasses left grown. The vase was downon mom graves and many times I asked the office to put it back. and no result. DAn Booth solved the problem took care of the issue. He takes his job responsibilities seriosly and Dan helped a lot and made the grave look very nice . I am happy with the reult and I want to thank Dan Booth. read more

I buried my husband here 23 years ago. At the time his passing was unexpected but we found Columbia to be the most beautiful among the those we considered. The grounds were well manicured and maintained. I moved away from the area a few years afterwards and do not get back to the cemetery that often. I was just there this past weekend and I was appalled at the condition of the park. The weeds and crabgrass have taken over! Lawns are in dire need of a decent cutting and in many places there isn't a blade of grass to be seen. We even experienced a problem several years ago where the entire marker on his grave had been covered over with dirt and the office needed to be contacted to locate it and unearth it. It is no longer the place of dignity for a final resting place for loved ones. I am very disappointed to say the least and am hoping next time I visit some of these issues will have been addressed. read more

My buddy was buried there in 2016. In 2019 I was riding my bike and decided it was time to stop by. The visitor center was closed. They have limited hours. A family told me they'd never seen a directory. Another family told me it is divided into religious areas. I started from the far end and found his gravesite. The place seems fine though they could have better hours or at least have a lookup system or even a basic map posted. read more

The Memorial Park has gone down hill since I dealt with Leslie five years go. Spoke to the office about our vase missing for the second time. Not upset just letting them know this occurred again. Well I got the rudest call from the cemetery "manager" this morning and she was on speaker phone and my daughter heard the entire rude attitude this woman had. I was so upset by the end of the conversation don't remember her name but I don't ever want to speak to her again. Asked for her bosses name and she wouldn't give it to me, said she would relay it to him, right. Vase was removed for another burial and it was put back but noticed the granite is chipped. They roll right over $7,000.00 graves with no care. Sad. read more

On Saturday I stopped to visit my son's grave. It was desecrated. Tractor had driven over it, urn which holds flowers and stones missing (I found several feet away), it was filthy. Took the photos (hope they show), called the General Manager on his cell and he said he would look into. This morning I stopped by and found the grave site fixed. No adjectives are sufficient for a mother to find her son's grave in this condition. I am grateful that the grave is fixed, but anyone who has lost a child knows that it is a lifetime battle, and when the scab comes off, it takes a while for the heart to follow the brain. I contacted Columbia Memorial Park today after receiving an email about pricing increase. I called the contact person on the email named Kim (Kimana) Haggins. First she answered the phone on a speaker phone and I could hardly hear her and I asked if she could speak louder as I could not hear her. When I informed her of my inquiry she became very sarcastic, rude and acted like I was some sort of idiot who could not understand English. For the record, I am 63 years old, female well educated and lived in Maryland my whole life and born in the United States. I asked to speak to someone else because I was confused by her tone and attitude. She refused to transfer me and would not give me the name of any supervisor. If I could leave -10 stars I would. Please do not bury your loved one here; they DO NOT take care of the lawn and mulching maintenance no matter how much you pay, even if it's an estate. Be prepared to self maintain the estate, which includes pulling the weeds, trimming and maintaining the lawn. Definitely not worth the price they charge you. I would like to pass on some information about Columbia Memorial Park. My husband and I purchased burial plots when the cemetery first opened. We lived in Columbia from 1972 until November 2017 when we moved to Florida. Knowing we were not going to move back north we had the task of trying to find someone to buy our plots. With the assistance of Columbia Memorial Park and the staff, we have been able to sell them to friends. Without the intervention from Steve and his staff, I am not sure what we would do. was there yesterday, ( 4-16-23) grass very high, was told this morning that the contract with their grass cutting company was every 10 to 16 days. seems like the contract should recognize that springtime sometimes requires a shorter timeframe. Second point.... why is Columbia Memorial Park on the delinquent property list for Howard County as listed in the Flier of April 13, 23.. the office refused to answer that question. I wish there were more Starts that I could Give. We Lost our Mom on 07/06/2022. We were using Harry H Witzke's for the Funeral and our Parents had pre purchased their plots . Steve Cohen at Columbia was fantastic to work with . He handled everything for us and the Kindness and Professionalism was outstanding. The staff treated us with Love and Respect during this trying time. The Funeral and Internment was on the 10th and we followed up with Steve today ( 13Th) for a Bench purchase. It is not possible to write a review here without first throwing them a star. They DO NOT deserve any stars. They are NOT incompetent and they are NOT just giving you poor service. They DISCRIMINATE and DESECRATE the graves of your loved ones on purpose, SPECIFICALLY if you are MUSLIM. No one can be this incompetent or callous. The local Muslim community leadership is equally to blame because they are weak and spineless and have done absolutely NOTHING in the face of this blatant desecration of the graves of their community members and loved ones. They are too busy tooting their horn at acquiring space in this *Howard County* burial ground, and how great they are at arranging burial spots at such "great rates." But the community is dead - literally, and the cemetery management has no one to hold them to account. They play the confusion and incompetence card better than Peter Falk used to play Columbo on TV, and they want you to believe that they must drive their five ton tractor over your mother's (or father's) grave for each new burial and that they must keep the land muddy and untended because they are burying people there every day. Well, they must think their Muslim clients are stupid because in any other decent cemetery there is a proper and respectful way to lay someone to rest and it does not involve grave diggers that should be digging mass graves for some genocidal despot in a banana republic nor should they be destroying other graves in the process. The local Muslim community leadership has given their approval of this daily massacre of decency and desecration of Muslim graves with their silence. It is clear to see, as no graves of Christians or Jewish community members are under attack at this cemetery like the Muslims ones are. Columbia Memorial Park better clean up their act quickly and start showing some respect before they end up on national news. HORRIBLE! I would give it zero stars if I could... My mother died seven years ago and without fail, every single Christmas, I get solicitation mail from them...save 20% off on your next funeral!! WTF?? Really??? My father is still alive but last Christmas I received a past due notice for the opening and closing of his grave next to my mom which prompted a 100 mph race there to make sure that somebody had not been buried right next to her. I would like to thank the wonderful people at Columbia Memorial Park as they were very loving during my families time of sorrow. Ms. Wise listened and comforted our family taking the time we needed to make arrangements so we didn't feel rushed.They are still a relatively new park, however, they have made the resting place very beautiful. It doesn't feel like you have just placing your loved one in one big open plot of land.
