I was taking my TOEFl exam today in the facilities of the that so-called 'Institute of Technology'…read more If you want to waste $200 and get your score ruined then opt for this place when picking up the place for the place to take TOEFL. Firstly, the staff - the guy who was observing TOEFL takers was sitting right behind me, watching videos and laughing out loud. And that was happening while listening, reading, speaking and writing sections. Secondly, the room was exteremely small to accommodate the number of students who came to take TOEFL. I was simply sitting at the entrance. Thirdly, pencils B2 kept breaking down all tha way. And you are not allowed to use your own there. Weird, weird, weird!!!!! I kept changing pencils during all the sections. Finally, I just picked up the pencil different from B2 myself from the table. The earphones are horrible. Not only they do not prevent you from hearing noises around, they simply do not fit your headshape and are not adjustable. To sum up, if you wanna screwed up your TOEFL score the New York Institite of Technology is the right place.

Butler Library and Avery Architectural Fine Arts Library have beautiful interiors that are ideal look for a historic college library, as well as the modern style of Engineering Library. Among them, I like Lehman Social Sciences Library the most, though I rarely take SIPA courses, there is a microwave on the sixth floor of the building to heat meals, and small self-study rooms, which is very suitable for spending a whole day reviewing for exams and writing the thesis. One of the great things about the Columbia Library is that you can find almost every kind of study space here. Study on the second-floor mezzanine, study in the quaint rooms with low light, study in the small rooms like telephone booths, study on the edge of the numerous bookshelves... They have desks in almost every corner of the library, and you can always find a study atmosphere that attracts you.

Dorms look very ugly and old. Anyways, you can see stars at night when you look up on a normal night without any storm. Lots of nice greenery all around you like you're not in New York City. There's also a lot of fireflies in the bushes and grass at night. The food in the kitchen is really good. Their lunch trays are navy when I used to go there and is big enough to hold a lot of food. I came here for a business camp back when I was in high school and their facilities were really spacious to accommodate us.

Barnard is situated across from Columbia and both campuses look like a shrine to academia. You can physicaly see the ivy growing up the sides of the walls, and you feel like you are automatically smarter for being physically present here. The faculty and staff were so helpful in developing my skills. I was here about 16 years ago and although I lived in NYC for a good chunk of my adult life, I no longer live in the city. But I sure make a point of walking through the campus to feel the nostalgia. (And then over to St. John the Divine to watch the peacocks, perhaps as I eat some pastries from the Hungarian pastry shop.) Thank you for being an essential part of my career, Barnard. I loved the doors you opened, and the path you created for me to my career in NYC!
