This library is wonderful. Opened since 2018, it remains very clean and well-kept. It has two floors, with most of the children's books and activities on the first level, and adult books and study spaces on the second level. This helps separate the noise originating in the child area from those looking for more of a quieter space upstairs. It has 11 different independent study rooms that can be reserved, with most intended for 2-4 people. They can be reserved ahead of time online, or in person on a tablet on the second floor near the restrooms. There is also a very large quiet study room with windows for plenty of natural light. There is a cafe on the main level for coffee and snacks. Parking is also a breeze, with a very large lot out front. All in all, this is one of my favorite branches in the Columbus Metropolitan Library system. read more

Ok, the Columbus metropolitan library is open for browsing so here we are at the beautiful Hilliard branch. It is so spacious and clean and new! We were handed an inventory card and will need to turn it in when we leave so they can keep count of how many people are here. If you want to sit somewhere, you have to reserve a seat so they can clean. The kids needed books for school reading and so mission accomplished. read more

The new Hilliard library branch is GORGEOUS! Very modern and clean. I believe it's now the largest CML Branch. They have tons of little mini study/quiet rooms upstairs, larger meeting rooms, plenty of computers and even a coffee bar! The space seemed very open and inviting for one to hang out at and work. While the space is much larger, it doesn't seem like they actually have more materials, everything just feels more spread out. With it being a new location, I had wondered if they would add a drive up window. But I realized that since the building was originally going to have a different use, there wouldn't have been a good way to configure it. Great job on the new location, CML! read more

Wow, I hadn't been here since they moved, uh, several years ago. Sweetie had been, and was impressed. It was handy today when Baby K wanted to play while we were in the area. And the kids' area is impressive. Lots of books, well-organized. A bus, a table with trains, others with magnets, etc., interactive video boards on the walls, etc. Unfortunately I didn't get to check out much of the rest of the building. But it is much larger than the previous location, and well-designed. I'm sure we'll be back, and I look forward to exploring it. read more

A public library is a favorite place of mine. I love books, and I love comfortable spots to sit in libraries. I am a frequent visitor to this branch because it is close to home. Before moving to this newly remodeled building, the old location was within walking distance from my home. I can still walk, but it's a bit further. This branch is 2 stories with lots of space. I am always stopping by to pick up reserved books, or dropping them in the drive-up return slot. The librarians at the desk by the front door are always helpful if you need them, but otherwise the self-checkouts are awesome. There is a cafe on the main floor, and there is a solarium in the back with lots of windows and seating. read more

So pretty! Overall, they have done a great job on this very new location. It has lots of space to study, read and hold meetings. It was very quiet and clean. The child area was even surprisingly quiet and cute! I really enjoy how sections are broken up not only by what you're looking for but also by age category. The staff are AMAZING. They are very attentive to the consumers and were beyond helpful with signing up my mom and sister for a library card (I already have one). They were very attentive when we were checking out books at the self-check out and were on it each step of the way. The bathrooms are clean and spacious. The meeting rooms are very updated with comfortable chairs, TVs and equipment. read more

I love this new library. It is spacious, quiet, safe, and has a ton of natural light! There are less tables than I expected, but I didn't have an issue finding a great spot to study. I like that they also have a small cafe on the first floor, a nice addition for those of us studying all day long! There are an abundance of study rooms here which I'm sure many people appreciate (one of my favorite things CML libraries have). Staff is friendly and patrons are respectful! read more

Great location and great space with free parking - perfect for meeting others or indulging in some alone time among books and media for yourself. There are numerous spaces to study, read or conduct meetings - including small study spaces to reserve for real seclusion with resources at your fingertips. A very nice addition is the coffee shop inside the lobby, where you can buy assorted beverages (including, of course, coffee) and/or snacks. There are healthy options and treats as well - very nice assortment and plenty of space to enjoy your snack while reading, studying or discussing topics with others. The children's area is very well appointed with three main areas and a few side areas with activities. There is a large "train" with media for kids to participate in play or activities, a play area and another section where stories are read during published story time. Tables with interactive toys are positioned and it's very easy to entertain younger and older children alike. My grandchildren are 7 and 4 and they delighted in the space before making some book selections to take home to continue the fun. There is an elevator to the second floor or you can take a central staircase - the upper level contains adult content and it is segregated nicely. There is an area for teens as well with space for internet use as well as book titles for this age group, adjacent to non-fiction and fiction titles of the main library (brilliant design placement). I find myself planning to spend time here to make my book selections but appreciate lingering and discovering this new location on my own, with friends or with my family. My favorite feature of libraries is the self check-out capability. It makes the entire visit convenient for days when interacting with others is on the "would not rather" list. read more

The Hilliard library -- been a fan of the library since I was a little girl. LOVED to read when I was a kid and now I wish that I had more time to do that. I was in the library today to pick up a DVD and a book. Ok - so I am trying my best to start reading again amongst my busy work schedule and social life. But I will have to say that every time I go into the library, they are always very friendly and helpful. I always search for certain books online and then have the library reserve them for me. Kind of works better with my schedule too. But today when I went in there to get the DVD, the gentleman behind the counter was nice enough to explain to me how they get those DVDs out of the darn holders. I guess it wasnt 'clicking' upstairs, so he watched me struggle for a second and then came over to help me. (Sheesh, I swear I must have blonde roots somewhere! ha!!) But overall the library has always been and still is a great place to go visit. LOVE IT! read more

This is my favorite library while it is also the closest to my house. I do drive by two others on my commute to work but I will drive out of my way to go here for browsing for a book or DVD. First of all the staff is wonderful here and always helpful. They are involved in the community and really help out with their homework centers. They have a good set-up with the their computers for little ones, teens, and adults. I like how their entire set-up is done as it easy to find and not crowded. I liked the old spot for DVDs but the new spot against the wall isn't bad except sometimes a glare can make it hard to read. read more

It seems like I am on an unintended tour of the areas libraries. I am hunting for a great spot to finish a project; and because I will be WiFi deficient at home as I decide what I am going to do re. habitate the great Columbus and burbs libraries are key in getting my WWW fix. So I came here to see the facilities. It reminds me of the Hard Road branch of Worthington, single floor with high ceilings that angle up to a center beam. Lots of natural lighting with ample books snug around the help desk and self- checkout gives the place a feel good glow. Seating seemed at first to be in small supply; the first gathering of club chairs in the open near the line of computers, the most such stations I have found outside of Whetstone or Tremont, UA. But deeper in finds nooks and cubbies that offer more privacy and silence. Popular, the place was hoping on Friday afternoon. It has a large parking lot in the back that was almost full. Not much with videos, the branch has lots of music CDs. Seems like a full library, one worth the time if you need refernce materials. It also has dedicated children sections, rooms, and other amenities. We are fortunate to have great libraries in town. read more

This is my local branch and, compared to some other local branches, it has pluses and minuses. I don't think I would come here to do homework or study because the seating seems limited, but I really like the selection of books that they have on site. They remind me of a more updated version of the old Northside branch, but with better parking. The librarians there are also really nice. I had a reserve on hold that wasn't on the shelf, and three librarians looked for it until they found it. I felt so cared for! Even though my FAVORITE branch is, of course, the main library downtown, this is a great local branch. read more

For not being a main branch, the Hilliard branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library is pretty decent. Its fiction section stocks most of the classics, but if you want any good modern fiction, you'll probably have to pre-request your books and pick them up when they arrive. I find myself doing this every trip. The same goes for vegetarian literature. Once I've picked up my order, I meander around the shelves to see if I can find anything else that sparks my interest, as a bonus. That way I never leave feeling disappointed. The Hilliard branch has a good number of computer terminals, and there's almost always one open. There are also a few private study rooms in the back, which I think every library should be required to have. This isn't the quietest place in town. I always encounter noisy kids and adults on cell phones. This branch is really centered on small children. The only events held here are children's storytimes interspersed with the occasional book discussion for adults. The staff is always around, which actually just makes me a little nervous. I hate when I'm in the middle of a perfectly good exploration and someone jumps in front of me and asks if I need help. Can't just walk aimlessly through the library? Do I have to make a B-line for the item I want and get out? Another thing about the staff, don't trust their recommended reading section.... Other than that, they're good people who will always help you find what you need if you are seriously looking for something specific. read more

I love the ample amount of parking. Decent size inside, enough space to move around and never feel squished. Computers are front and center. Quiet study spaces and conference rooms run the sides. Lots of things going on - especially overthrust met months. Reading camps, signing time (for the little ones), craft areas. If you live close, and have young children, this is a fantastic respite for you mind and body :) read more

Who reviews public libraries? No food here, although Grand China is a few yards away. For a low-priced Americanized Chinese place, Grand China is OK. There is also some bar here, so you can read to the kids and then go meet some local Hilliard alkies. Even when we have fines, they are nice. Clean bathrooms but smell like an elementary school. Full of books, if you are into that kind of thing. Stuck in drab Hilliard, which is of course unforgivable. read more

The metropolitan library system is overall great. I enjoy this Hilliard branch because it is a nice quiet place to work. There is a quiet room as well as several study rooms to use. If you want a snack or coffee, there is also a coffee place located inside it. There are plenty of outlets located by work table as well as on chairs. If you are looking for a place to work, I recommend this branch. read more

The Hilliard Branch is SUPER large for a branch library, and has a ton of selection on hand. It is conveniently located in the middle of Hilliard, and has plenty of parking. It is probably the largest of any branch that I have visited. Their media selection is also very big, and you can always find something to take home. Of course, if you can't, you can reserve it and pick it up later. I've never had any issues with the self-checkouts, although sometimes the computers can get very busy. Outside of the Main Library the biggest of the branches are Hilliard, Karl Road and Whetstone, each with 170,000 volumes. I like the Hilliard branch, one because of the cool building with its angles and points. But I also like it for many other reasons. They have a large children's section with many stacks, books on CD, kids' DVDs, a plus kid-sized reading area with a little play place. The stacks for adults are even more numerous. Magazines are in decent supply. They even have some periodicals. An area is set aside for teens and is so-so; it has some stacks and some chairs. Audio visual has books on CD, music CDs, and DVDs in a somewhat sizeable area. Personal study tables are in an out of the way place by windows, which always helps to boost the morale with the natural light. Hilliard has a closed off quiet study room with plenty of light from windows and open space. Seating for kicking back and reading is in convenient locations away from traffic. I also enjoyed the paintings on the wall. Computers are in abundance and free Wi-Fi is available. Free English classes are also taught, as well as children's story times. read more

So noisy. Study rooms and conference rooms don't block any sound in or out. The quiet room on the second floor is so noisy because the open building design and its second floor location near the openness. It's impossible to concentrate. It's basically a daycare center. read more

We love this library, it's a good place to go when the weather isn't great. Activities are great, we attended a "Jammin' With Annie" event recently and loved it!... My two year old loves the train table and everything else in the children's area. We always come home with a large stack of books that he's excited to read. Looking forward to attending more fun events with him :) read more
