We recently returned from a trip to Kenya, Africa with Larry Gelwix for the Serengeti Migration. What an experience. Our guide, Amos, was exceptional. We went out 3 times a day and saw all kinds of animals. Leopards, lions, elephants, giraffes, hyenas, wildebeasts, zebras, ostriches, rhinos, hippos, and on and on. The jeep windows were down and the Roof extended up and the animals walked a foot away from our jeep. Some rubbed up against the jeep. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. I should have put up this review last year, but spaced it. Now, after two successful trips ... I need to. The travel agent, Jennifer Schwab, made it happened. Last year we went to London & Rome, and Jenny booked us in really nice hotels, in very convenient locations. She arranged the airport transfers, and we had to problems at all. This year, we went to Barcelona & Paris ... and, once again, the arrangements were perfect. Now, about the price of the trips. I don't think I could have done better. They were very affordable. We went on a trip to Rome Italy with Columbus Travel. We had a lot of problems with our flights. We were to leave out of JFK in NY. They had a big snow storm so we were stranded in Atlanta. There was no representative from Columbus with us as they were already in Rome. Booking new flights was a nightmare. There was 40 of us. Columbus had to approve all new bookings and create new confirmation numbers so everything had to be done by phone. I was traveling with a neighbor and from Atlanta we were given different confirmation numbers so there was no way we could continue traveling together. We are both in our 70's so needed to travel together. I was sent to Madrid Spain then Rome. Arrived 6 hours late. Not bad. My Neighbor had to spend the night in Atlanta and flew through Paris, arriving a full day later. When we tried to fly home Columbus hadn't released confirmation numbers to the airlines so it took us 3 hours in Italy to get boarding passed and another hour in Minnesota to get boarding passes. What a mess. Will never book airlines with them again. Once we made it to Rome, the tour was great. Columbus did make sure everyone was picked up at the airport and got to see all the main attractions on the schedule. Was a challenge as we were all arriving at different times through the next day and half. From there we went to Florence and Venice. Our US tour guides were great as they were both fluent in Italian and knew the areas well. We also had the same Italian tour guild once we left Rome until we were ready to fly home. He had a great sense of humor and his English was outstanding. We all really liked him. Would book a tour minus the airfare with Columbus again. read more

I have used Columbus travel for a couple of vacations now. They have very competitive rates and the staff is great there always so helpful so knowledgeable about the various places, what hotels are like. I wouldn't recommend going anywhere else! read more

My family has used John Potter at Columbus Travel for a few years now. He has helped us on trips to Costa Rica, Ireland and elsewhere in Europe. A few weeks ago I found we needed to fly to Shanghai on short notice. I called John, and he found us great business class seats and Sheraton accommodations for a very good price. Very good price. Recently went on a trip as an incentive trip for Mountain land supply that was organizer by columbus travel. We were to go to the Riu Palace all inclusive resort in Nassau Bahamas. 2 weeks before the trip Columbus tells us that Riu closed due to low occupancy and they have moved us to the Baha Mar Hyatt hotel and its not inclusive. These were Hvac technicians they were taking and did not give time to save anything for the trip extra food fees they have. Baha Mar is very expensive and columbus have a $240 gift card per person literally covered maybe 2 meals of 6 full days! Not 1 meal less that $95 for 2 people! We spent thousands of dollars that were not expected due to this "all expenses covered" incentive vacation. Also columbus was not available nor responding to emails for duration of trip even thought he was on site. They were not versed on the covid protocol to come back to US so that was really a mess. Not pleased at all how this vacation was handled by Columbus Travel!!! read more

Offered me a hotel and airfare package that I liked but once I paid for it, the hotels were no longer available and the replacement they offered was double the first hotel. I found and booked my own hotels and requested they change my flight to get me into a closer airport. They charged my card over $900 without my permission to make the change. Once I found that out I said to leave my flights alone and I'll work with the hotel to get me from the wrong airport. They have only refunded $750 of the $900 they were not authorized to charge and the worst of it was, they even canceled the flight I was trying to change and kept all the money making me rent a car to drive the 200 miles my flight would have saved me. I called Columbus Travel a couple of weeks ago asking about an anniversary trip for my husband and I to Hawaii. I was promised information within 4 hours. Sadly it has been 2 weeks and I still have not had a return call or email regarding my travel plans. I guess it is better to book on your own rather than depend on someone else :( read more

She was wonderful in getting us some last-minute cruise reservations and arranged it so that we could surprise my brother-in-law at Disney World and on the Disney Magic. This vacations management business operates on fishy grounds. I first contacted them about a property they have for long term rental and a month later I have heard all kinds of excuses for the person in charge LAURA not to communicate and finally we get to the stage of filling out an application to occupy but it was just a scam to collect the application fee and immediately was told to move on. I called and tried to find out why and I was told denied for income which surprised me because I have an annual income in the 6 figures. Then I called again to find out about the real reason to be told never call again. Laura stated that she has the right to deny me without telling me a reason and she said it was totally legal to deny but I strongly believe that she discriminated against me because of my name and origin. Have you ever heard a vacation management office that doesn't have a FAX, Laura said they don't have one when I asked her about a fax number so I can fax her income verification but she was prejudicial and did not like me because of my name and accent.
