One of my favorite study spots!…read more The children activities can get noisy, but if you sit upstairs in the designated quiet area with a pair of noise canceling headphones, it's a perfect place to get work done. The natural light coming from the large windows makes long study days feel less confining. I feel comfortable leaving my belongings at my table while I use the restroom. It's a risk to take unless you ask one of the many kind people around to watch your stuff. There are also study rooms for rent. I haven't used them, but I'm happy to have the option. The parking lot can get packed quick due to the fitness center, nearby parks, and other library goers.

We ended up getting three stalks from the front desk. The person behind the desk diligently informed us we can only take one as they are running out of supplies. Unfortunately, my 3 year old does not understand this supply and demand issue as I do. The employee let us go, although clearly she was not very happy about it. Anyhow, if I were a part of this establishment or her boss, I will praise Katherine for doing her best to minimize supply usage. Most specially if they are running out. It's good to have someone very dedicated to their job like that. I truly mean that. In a customer service standpoint and as a mom, I would give her 3 stars (that's me being nice) because we are talking about a toddler here. Some understanding is appreciated. I even offered to pay for the stalks and she responded with, "that's not the point." She tried to confront me, after she saw me take down her name. However, she did let us go after that so I guess I should just be appreciative of her. Library rating for amenities: 5 stars. Events, classes, and more can be found here for free as well. Not into books? You can check out Blu-ray or DVD movies as well! The kids side of the library can be loud (it's on the left as you walk in). If you want quiet you should head off to the right. You don't need to wander far to find a quiet desk or table. The only thing I wish our Library had more of was parking. During events or busy days the parking lot fills up very quickly and you can find yourself circling for a while. The street parking is limited as well. I'd definitely walk, but we live to far away.

This library is open everyday, so that's nice b/c none of the Sac Public Libraries is open on Sundays or Mondays. I can't believe this one is open even on Sundays, great for kids to hang out on a lazy Sunday afternoon. As I entered, there's the kids' area on the left side, it's like a separate wing altogether and it's nice and colorful in there. It's really big too, so kids must really enjoy that space and I saw quite a few kids there on a late weekday afternoon, maybe cuz it's summer time. Lots of kids books on shorter shelves and several kids' computers w/preloaded software for them. Back towards the entrance of the library you'll find the info/front desk where the librarians and assistants are available to help you find books etc. Then there's shelves of books and towards the back of the library, but still in the middle as you look in, there's a friends of the library book sale and an area where you can eat and there are a couple of vending machines so you can buy a snack and drink. There's even a charging stand with multiple cords for different phones if you need to recharge your phone. The right side of the library is where teens and adults sections are and there's a dedicated teens room, and a couple of study rooms as well as a huge and really nice study room named after some lady who's a local person of importance and the room is filled with old books and is pretty amazing to study in although it was kind of hot and stuffy in there so I just peeked in and didn't stay. Finally, towards the far right side of the library are all the circulating movie and TV DVDs and there were a ton compared to other libraries I've seen as well as CDs which interesting, is still popular here. And lots of seating and reading loungers, but mostly desk and chairs for studying. All in all this is a pretty nice and big library, older, but well-kept.

I was impressed by their children's area!! Gorgeous story mural, fun pirate theme with a life size mermaid and pirate! Lot of books and a big indoor play area!! Our toddler had a blast in their play kitchen with other kids, putting together age-appropriate puzzles, playing with transparent tiles, stuffies, dinosaurs and more! They have great summer reading challenges for kids! For example 1,000 books before Kindergarten. Your child places a spaceship on the library wall to track their progress and earns prizes along the way! if we were residents, we would sign up! I love our local library. over the years funding, hours, and inventory have gone up/down. But…read morethrough thick and thin, and now even covid, the library remains open and brings needed services to its constituents. Its easy online now to look up a book and put a hold on a title you are looking for from any library in the system. They also have several computers available for the public to use on a limited basis (so that everyone has a chance to use them). consider donating books or money to help them out.

They have a children's room towards the back and the place was clean except for the ladies bathroom that wreaked of Marijuana! I liked that they had a security guard on duty as there is times when I have drove by and saw some homeless people hanging outside. The staff was helpful and polite. They had alot of books to choose from and some people were even playing chess! Plenty of quiet areas to sit and do your homework or read a book! Well, doesn't exactly apply to me in this case here at the library, but we've tried coming here before and somehow it was always closed. Usually, it's because we forgot that it's a Monday or we were nearby on a minor holiday and forgot that the library is closed even for holidays where most people are working. In any case, this is one of the bigger and newer libraries in the Sac Public Library System and I finally made it to check it out. Pros: - big building. Inderkum High School is right next door, so it's probably place here to especially serve the students. - clean and well-maintained. I like the bright open environment. - lots of books, rows upon rows of book shelves filled. - kids area is sectioned off, safer for kids, maybe quieter for everyone else. - clean bathrooms, we felt they were safe enough for our kids to go by themselves. - big friends of the library bookstore that's actually its own space/room. Lots of nice used and even some new or like new books for very reasonable prices. Get one for yourself/your kids or as a gift. - tons of seating for reading. Comfy couches seats as well as serious study desks and chairs. - a couple of reservable (online) study (group, or self)/meeting rooms. Cons: - can get loud if nearby high school students come after school - can get loud in kids area during high traffic "toddler time" - not open, Monday or Sundays, to be expected though, across all of SPL All in all... Nice and quite new and worth a visit!

They also have numerous tables and public computers available for use. You'll need a library card to check out materials, but signing up is free and can be done at the front desk. They also have games available for checkout. If you're looking for something specific, it's worth checking their website beforehand to see what's available. The library is clean, well-maintained, and the staff are friendly. One thing to note is that staff are not always nearby to address disruptive children, so keep that in mind. This wasn't our first visit, and it definitely won't be our last.
