I drove here from Oregon and this was a pretty cozy small town. Most of the stores/shops were closed though. Kind of sad.

Red Bluff PD is one of the last remaining "good ol boys" police departments left in this country…read more They arrested me for a DUI and refused to show me the results of the roadside breathalyzer. Then, they refused to take me to the hospital for a blood test as mandated by State law. After that, I was surrounded and threatened by 5 officers with them trying to physically force me to take another breathalyzer test at the station. I told them they were unethical and scandalous. A female officer yelled out, "he's resisting!" as I was sitting calmly cuffed with my hands behind my back. Then, two male officers bounced me off of three walls, threw me in a cell, dropped knees in my back and stripped me naked. There was no toilet in the room at it was very cold. I never flexed a muscle, raised my voice or threatened the whole time. They charged me with 6 trumped up offenses that were dismissed with me representing myself because my public defender, Miller, told me I was guilty of all charges. What is going on in this town? I try to avoid Red Bluff at all costs now. Heed my warning folks - you are not safe from police brutality in Red Bluff.

From Sleepless Nights to Peaceful Mornings -- Thank You, Clearlake PD!…read more Why is this review so hard to write? Because we're in a whole new dimension of quiet here in our little six-block neighborhood, and part of me doesn't want to jinx it. But credit must be given where it's due. For the first time in eight years, we are enjoying full nights of sleep, peaceful evenings, and mornings that feel joyous. The difference is profound -- our quality of life has improved for me, my wife, our neighbors, our children, and even the animals and wild birds (who honestly seem happier too). Two long-running challenges had made life here stressful: A "party house" blasting loud bass and lyrics into the early morning hours, week after week, year after year. A nightly chorus of barking dogs that kept the whole neighborhood awake. Somehow, the Clearlake Police Department -- both day and night personnel -- managed to bring about real, lasting change. The party house still plays music, but now it's at a respectful volume, even during the day. At night, I can put my head on the pillow and hear nothing but natural neighborhood sounds. And the barking dogs? Silent. This is no small gift. Peace and quiet are treasures, and you've given them back to us. The difference is remarkable -- it feels like the wind blew in a "quietude spell" over everything that was once too noisy. Bravo to the extraordinary dispatchers and the finest peace-keeping officers at the Clearlake Police Department. We are eternally grateful for your service. Thanks to you, our neighborhood now feels like Avalon.
