It's just that going to court gives me anxiety as the reason why I deducted 1 star, LOL! But I do know we have them for a reason. As their mission states, "To resolve disputes assuring that individuals are not deprived of life, liberty or property without due process of law or denied equal protection of the law." (Superior Court of Sutter). Sometimes you win a dispute/case and not pay anything and win your freedom or anxiety of owing a fine/bill, sometimes you lose a dispute/case then pay the fine, and sometimes you are summoned for jury duty just to watch the trial. The trial may not be Judge Judy like trial where there's some humor into the case, but the judge does show some slight humor in regards of tying the case back to the Law if found guilty. As the judge will not show favorites between the defendant and the prosecutor. Tips to win a case: 1. Provide important key evidence! Such as photos, videos, documents, and/or witnesses to make your dispute much stronger to win a case to prove yourself innocent. 2. Hire the best lawyer. (optional). 3. Be confident and have good body language. Speak professionally (avoid curse languages). 4. Treat all court employees nicely (never show aggression). 5. Be prepared to share your story in a clear concise manner, provide timelines if possible and stick to it if you'll be summoned again. 6. Stay kind and calm at all times. 7. Attend your trial if you can make it. If you can't make it (re-schedule in a timely manner preferably 2-3wks in advance prior to your trial date). Tips to lose a case: 1. Don't be over confident or too cocky. 2. Steps from 1-7 from "Tips to win a case", just exactly the opposite. LOL! Important note: Attend your jury duty if you've been summoned! It's part of being the world's greatest American Citizen aka You to partake. The judges will move any cases to the front that would be a disruptive inmate or a tv type case. It's important to not bring stuff into the building. You will be checked as it is a courthouse. No weapons or pepper spray. Dress nice for court. There are minimum rules. Don't dress like you don't care because it's gonna cost you. You can checkout your court case online to make sure of the courtroom the day before to make sure it's still on. It's always available to see if it's moved or something. The prisoners will be in the orange jumpsuits. You're not allowed to make any kind of contact with them. The bailiff will catch you. The judge will throw you out at the very least. If not fine you and throw you in there with them. You can go to visitation. The courthouse does have a counter you can go in for information if you need to file small claims or something. We have a nice clean facility use it. They do need better handicap access through the check-in process

I made time to take off from work for jury duty and it's not my fault the case didn't need me part of the summon and I the case excuse me. I thought she was very rude to me and what she said to me is unprofessional. This took place on June 3rd 2025, around 12:50-1pm. I did not purposefully ask for time off for jury duty. I need a copy for work as backup for asking time off. So I have evidence.

We were here for a traffic violation of the texting variety. Parking was packed even before 9 on a Monday. Got through to security and proceeded to get our service wait tickets via an e-kiosk. It took about 10 minutes before we were registered and told to go to room 30 where the traffic violations were being heard. Upon entering this courtroom, the judge was hearing testimony from a police officer while the "violating" party sat in the table a few chairs from him. Mikes were sensitive enough for testimonies to be heard inside. I figured that those who contested their citations went first as the arresting officer were present during the hearing. This went on for some time, and a 15-minute recess ended the scheduled disputes. It went like a breeze after that as those with petty traffic citations were summoned in batches of three's. I sat with my teen during the proceeding and the judge was thankful for my presence. We luckily got off a forgiveness as this first-time violator was a minor. We spent a total of 2 hrs and 30 minutes overall. Not quite what I planned for a Monday morning, but I'm sure glad it got the result it did.

Judge Timothy Fall made several erroneous rulings that greatly prejudiced Ms. Zhou, such as…read morefailing to amend the minute order, hastily dismissing the opponent with prejudice at an unwarranted ex parte hearing without considering the timely filed first amended complaint, and denying Ms. Zhou the opportunity to reverse these incorrect rulings through an ex parte hearing before another judge. 2. Judge Samuel McAdams unjustly thwarted the reversal of Judge Fall's erroneous rulings by staying Ms. Zhou's "motion to vacate" for 87 days without a valid reason, resulting in the motion being excluded from the mandatory 75-day ruling window. 3. Judge Stephen Mock, without considering the merits of the case or the pending motions, unjustly ordered Ms. Zhou to pay $45,000 in attorney's fees within 2 months, disregarding the fact that the defendant cited an outdated agreement to obtain the fees. Judge Mock then disqualified himself pursuant to CCP section 170.1 after refusing to allow the first amended complaint to stand. 4. When Ms. Zhou challenged Judge Mock's unjust attorney's fee ruling, Judge McAdams disregarded the case's merits and stayed the case "for all purposes," halting the proceedings against all other defendants. Video evidence shows Judge McAdams improperly removing Ms. Zhou from the Zoom hearing when she raised the issue of the defendants citing an outdated agreement to obtain attorney's fees, but he denied this occurrence when he disqualified himself using the excuse of making the recusal decision after the ruling window closed. It appears that delaying hearings and using the "ruling window" as an excuse to avoid facing the real issues is a common loophole exploited by some individuals within the legal system. 5. The defendant filed a frivolous complaint based on a concocted lie that could not sustain a demurrer. However, Judge Maguire stayed the demurrer motion to await the appeal result, citing the norm that demurrers are generally overruled. In fact, frivolous complaints cannot sustain a demurrer, but Judge Maguire refused to read and rule on Ms. Zhou's motion. When Ms.Zhou filed a motion to lift the stay, Judge Maguire acknowledged the complaint was unrelated to the appeal but nonetheless refused to rule on the demurrer. 6. The Yolo Superior Court clerk incorrectly invalidated Ms. Zhou's fee waiver, using an "automatic invalidation" rule. When Ms. Zhou searched online and challenged which rule they followed to invalidate the fee waiver, the court stated that it was an old rule, which had been outdated by a new rule about 1-2 years ago. However, the rule governing fee waivers, Cal. Gov. Code § 68639, has been in effect since 2009 and has never been outdated or updated. When questioned about the exact code of the rule that had expired and that the court used to invalidate Ms. Zhou's fee waiver, the court refused to provide an answer, citing "privacy issues." This demonstrates a clear misapplication of the law by the court clerk and a lack of transparency in the court's decision-making process. 7. Billionaire defendants' attorney, Ravinder Mehta, argued in the respondent's brief that the self-represented plaintiff should be treated as if represented by an attorney. However, Ms.Zhou was not afforded the same opportunities as attorneys to correct errors and faced numerous instances of unfair treatment.

My friend and I were strolling around Old Town Auburn when we saw this very grand building on top…read moreof the hill. We both wondered if that's their City Hall... Convinced that it probably is (it's not), we decided to hike up the hill to take a closer look only to realize as we hiked up that it was a lot farther away. Also we were surprised at the very steep hills here. So we made the decision to walk back down toward the center of Old Town and drove the parked car up to what we now realized is the Historic Courthouse. Built in 1898, it is now also the site of the current Placer County Superior Court (2nd floor) and The Placer County Museum which is located on the 1st floor. Of note, there's a Placer County women's jail (exhibit) which is a makeshift cell underneath the north staircase that was put here in 1905 due to it being too expensive to house women prisoners in local hotels and too dangerous to house them with men in the main jail. Located on Maple Street and Union Street.
