Avoid at all costs. I was in town for a wedding yesterday. Upon arrival, the hotel smelled like urine (pet friendly hotel) and when asked about extra towels for the pool was told they were cleaned out because of the fact they had most of their rooms full for the weekend(?). There were water stains on our ceiling, quarter-sized chips in the paint/plaster in our room, drapes appear to hand splatters of something (booze?) and broken tiles in various parts of the hotel. Given the fact it was a graduation weekend, we were able to look past most of it. The real rub came when I got home today 2 hours away and immediately realized we left my suit in the closet. I knew exactly where it was and called the office to ask them to grab it for me - indicating I could drive down the next day or pay for shipping. The person, Courtney, at first seemed nice enough and indicated she would look right away and call back. 2 hours went by and I thought I'd check in. She said she had looked and checked with housekeeping and It wasn't there. I was disappointed and figured it was thrown away (it was a custom suit) but really not totally convinced there was a real effort. Later that evening, my cousin (the bride of the wedding the day before) called to thank us for coming to town for the wedding. I shared the story as a (typical day in the life) about the suit situation and she insisted she go to the hotel to check one last time. She got the same person I had talked to by phone who explained she talked to me on the phone and said it wasn't there. I was told she also allegedly said, 'he had cute kids and all abs I bet they probably stuffed it under a bed or in a bag or something.' Thankfully, the owner happened to be in earshot, overheard the conversation, asked what's going went to check the room and came back with two hangers and my suit which was exactly where I had explained where it was. This story is just one of many that many others of my extended family had about the service here. Two stars ONLY because I have a suit back in my possession but one for everything else. Go to the Holiday Inn next door if you can. read more

I booked a king size handicapped suite for one night. I had my service dog with me. A service dog is not required to be registered and cannot be charged for. There were no questions when we went in or left about the dog and the dog, and the dog had clearly identified service dog information attached to him. This hotel is as it turns out pet friendly for dog exactly like mine. Quiet, will behaved and 20 lb and just one dog. But again, I did not need to register him and I cannot be charged for him. 2 days after the visit I looked back at my credit card and it had been charged an extra $115 for the dog. I have looked back on the website and can find no way to contact either choice hotels or the proprietor of the business to ask about this. I will try calling their front desk but most of them have very little hard to do anything about this kind of an issue. I will be contacting my bank and disputing the additional charge, but I shouldn't need to. I did have a reservation to stop there on my way back home for a night but I will be changing that to a different hotel chain. read more

We were not told there was absolutely no checking in before 3pm so when we showed up at 1:30 she very rudely said there is no checking in before 3 and they were still cleaning rooms because they were full up the night before well my suggestion would be for maybe she needs to go help them clean the rooms instead of sitting in an office talking to someone else read more

Since the kids enjoyed the last hotel stay some much we decided to do another hotel weekend so the kids could swim. This time we picked the Comfort Inn & Suites in Pittsburg. Why this hotel you might ask? Well it's because its the only hotel in Pittsburg with a indoor pool. I was a little worried because I was in a truck pulling a 28' trailer, but the parking lot was very good size with an additional parking lot between the hotel and the streets so it wasn't an issue at all. We checked in pretty late around 11:30 but was promptly greeted and got us quickly checked into the room. Because I had myself and 4 kids, we got the King Bedroom Suite that had separation from the main living area. Primarily so I could sleep and they could stay up to watch TV. We hit the pool the next day. It was typical size you would expect at a hotel but also had a very good size hot tub. The kids had a great time and enjoyed the weekend. If we decide to stay in Pittsburg again, this will be our choice again. read more

They lie about their policies when you ask to speak with management they lie and say management isn't in (yet the manager claim she HEARD the conversation between me and the "assistant manager" they claim policies are in place that are false. THIS IS LITERALLY A ROACH MOTEL!! SPEND THE EXTRA $15-$20 A NIGHT TO STAY AT THE LA QUINTA OR HOLIDAY INN (or ANYWHERE else)!!! I have no ide how this hotel is rated so highly. It is painful to give this "hotel" one star. I wish they had an option for negative stars. My daughter checked in before I got there and the room smelled so horribly of smoke, dirt, mustiness, and just in general made her gag. I called the front desk, was put on hold and then hung up on. I finally spoke with an employee, who went to the room and realized it was not up to par, so they put us on the top floor, at the end of the hallway, by the vending machines. The room still smelled of old, musty, dusty hotel. Though the room smelled better, there were many red stains on the carpet, the shower had black stains all over the floor of the tub, we killed a roach in our room, but, we did check for bed bugs and there were none. When I went to get a water from the vending machine, EVERY vending machine was out of everything, and there was a paper plate with a piece of cake shoved in the part of the vending machine that dispenses the drinks. I went to the lobby, had to find an employee (every time I went to the front desk, I had to go on a scavenger hunt to find anyone), and she informed me that all of the vending machines were empty, but she had a college dorm room size fridge with 2 waters in it. I paid for the two waters and went on my way. POINT BEING: SPEND THE EXTRA $15-$20 A NIGHT TO STAY AT THE LA QUINTA OR HOLIDAY INN!!! read more

If you want a nice place to stay while in Pittsburg, I recommend Comfort Inn and Suites. It's very affordable and what you might expect on a Choice Hotels property. Complimentary cookies and ice water in the beautiful lobby area in the evening gave it an upscale feel. Very friendly staff that greeted us every time we came in or out. Everything was clean and the pool area was nice. We enjoyed the free breakfast with the usual fare found at all Comfort Inns. Eggs, sausage patties, make your waffles, yogurts and cereals. Coffee, milk, juices and water. A great way to start a day of travel for us. The rooms are clean and comfortable. We had a great nights sleep, very quiet too. Updated flooring was very nice. My only criticism was the dirty bottom on the tub, needs a good scrub but it wasn't a big deal since we didn't shower. read more

This is by far the worst hotel visit I have ever experienced. From the ROACHES to the disrespect from staff members. We had just drove 3 hours for a graduation that we've been waiting months to go too but was postponed because of the Covid Virus. When we got there the receptionist upfront had a nasty attitude to being with. We proceeded to get into the hot tub not even a few minutes later she comes in and rudely states that it was broken and we had to get out. There was no sign stating that it was broken and no rope around it so you couldn't get in. The next morning me and my family had gotten up early to get ready for the graduation and the long day ahead of us. As I went to the the hotel room there was a ROACH on the bedroom door and another was I walked into the hallway. We told the assistant manager up front by the name of Courtney about the roaches and all she offered was to move us to a different room. With only an hour and a half till the graduation ceremony we had to take all of our belongings to another room with four of us to trying to get ready it was very stressful and a huge inconvenience. After this awful stay we had to go to the Landry Mat to wash all our belongings in fear that we would be taking home the roaches that were at the hotel room causing having to spend extra money and causing more stress. If you or your loved ones have stayed at this hotel recently and have roaches but don't know why or how you got them that would be your answer. When I brought it up to the corporate office they disregarded it told me i needed to speak to the Manager at the hotel. I proceeded to speak to the assistant manager and i was rudely hung up on. I called again to speak to the head Manager and she refused to even give me her name stating quote on quote " I don't give my name out to just anyone." Merry Christmas!! My dad lives here and my amazing husband surprised me with a very quick trip for Christmas to come visit. We are from a small town in Illinois that is about 7 hours away, we left home around 9:30 pm Friday. We drove in the crazy storm pretty much the whole way which made the trip a lot longer. Anyway, we made it safe Saturday morning to my dads at 7 am! We took the chance to call the hotel around 8 to see if we could check in early, my husband called and they were very quick with a yes! We were very exhausted and just needed to relax before any major family stuff! That made us so happy and then the rest of the time has been great. Thanks you we plan on a return!! read more

Although this might not be the "best" hotel in Pittsburg, KS. I would stay here again and again. The price is about $30 per night better and the rooms are every bit as good. I can do so much with that amount of extra jingle in my pocket including eating huge expensive meals at any of the restaurants in the area. read more

We didn't stay there because of the deposit policy that fail to inform guest of after I checked their page to confirm it. It isn't even posted in the hotel lobby. The GM was called and wouldn't make an exception. Fine. My issue with the GM is thay she hung up on me and from there wouldn't take my call. Not one person from upper management has called to apologize or even inquire about the incident. read more

Good for business! Decent hotel in Pittsburg where the options are somewhat limited. This hotel along with the Holiday Inn Express seem to be the best options. This hotel is located convenient to Wal-Mart, Home Depot, and the downtown business district. Everything in Pittsburg is within a few minutes drive, so everything is close to everything. They offer pool, sauna, and exercise room. I did not get to utilize any of these amenities on my trip. They do offer a breakfast which is pretty nice from what I hear, besides those strange egg discs... :-) read more

Hint-If you sign up with Choice Hotels, you can get a cheaper rate by $8-10 per night, but you have to pay in advance like a cheap airline ticket, with no changes allowed. There were many things that I liked about the hotel but the things that I didn't like kind of ruined all of the good things because of a fundamental need to sleep. Let me explain. I heard to ask for a room facing the back of the hotel because of the view and the hotel lights shining towards the windows, but I didn't know it was also because the sun heats up the room in the morning like a freaking sauna. The window screen also didn't fit the window so I didn't feel comfortable opening it since I'd be inviting half of God's insect kingdom into my room if I did. The air conditioning didn't kick on until the sun had heated up the room to what felt like 85 degrees even though it was set at 68. I woke up each morning drenched in sweat, then the air would kick on, I'd go to sleep again, then wake up again drenched in sweat. So if sleeping is important to you, this might suck a bit. Needless to say, I asked for a room when I got there facing the other way and of course, none were available on a Monday night or a Tuesday as I was there for two days. When I complained about the problem, I wasn't offered even a discount to compensate me for the two sleepless nights (sun came up at 5:30-6 a.m.), which I thought was pretty lame. Sorry, but the apology isn't enough when I'm paying money for a hotel to "sleep" in. read more

This was a solid 3 star hotel as compared to others, but because if the cleanliness and nicer beds (including queen vs full in double rooms) as compared to other hotels in the Choice chain this one gets 4 stars in my book. They also have a better breakfast and more friendly than most hotels in this catagory. Also have suites with two king beds and pull out sofa and some with a 2 person jacuzzi tub. I will stay here again if back in the area. read more

Bugs !! My son was sitting on the bed leaned back against the headboard watching tv and a roach fell off the top of the headboard onto him. We killed the roach and I took it to the front desk in a tissue and told the desk clerk what had happened. I was told that they have them sometimes because there are trees behind the hotel. That did not make me feel better about a roach falling onto my son. The next morning I killed a very large black ant and took it to the desk also. I was told "That is a large carpenter ant" I actually called the hotel to talk to the manager and was told by the manager that they get their rooms sprayed quarterly but they still get bugs sometimes. She just said sorry it just happens and did not seem to understand why I was upset about a roach falling onto my son since "it was just a wood roach". To me a roach is a roach. I am sorry to say that I do not recommend this hotel. read more
