This is now Days Inn by WYNDHAM. I THOUGHT Wyndham ran quality hotels. This is by far one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed at. Bottom 3 easy. 1 of the 3 ice machines on site actually worked. When I asked the lady at the front desk a question I had to repeat myself 2 or 3 times before she gave some sort of response and the responses were questionable at best. When I first pulled up I wasn't sure the office was even open. Hard pass don't stay here unless you don't have any other option. I wish I'd have spent the extra $40 a night for La Quinta! read more

Just checked in and this place is a dump. My room hasn't been vacuumed or swept in god knows how long. The A/C is about to vibrate out of the window. The furniture is covered in dust. Do better. Do MUCH MUCH better. read more

We were in town for a short visit. We chose Lamplighter over Holiday Inn. I am pleased with the decision. From the check in with Tammy to the check out with Shantaja(?) We felt valued and the hospitality was super top notch. The cleaning crew was awesome. I was dragging a bit from the late night socializing the night before. I know the pool and hot tub were in service and looked like a fun time. However we didn't make it there either....it's December..The stay was quiet and peaceful. I will look to stay with them again if the price is right. We got a great special deal they were running and I feel that it was a great value! Thank you Lamplighter Pitt KS for the hospitality. Well, can honestly say that the Lamplighter exceeded my expectations, especially for the price. Wasn't really expecting much, but stayed here for Homecoming weekend, so wasn't really in the room except to sleep. The rooms are nice and there is a good sized bathroom. The continental breakfast in the morning has a wide variety, which was very nice. Mulligan's Pub, which is the bar inside the Lamplighter has great drink prices and was also very nice inside. I just wish that the location was better, but I realize that is something that cannot be controlled.... .....had a nice room but I got bed bugs.... just wanted to point that out as well. read more

A solid three-star place. But that was with the funeral rate, too. The rooms are typically $80 a night per their website and that's just too high. What is the deal with high priced rooms in Pittsburg, KS? I know it's a college town, but really, is it that much of a hotbed of entertainment that the hotel rooms are ridiculously expensive? Anyway, I called to find out about a bereavement rate as my dad passed away, and his house was just too full of relatives for everyone. The lady on the phone was super sweet and quoted me a price of $69 a night. For that price, this place is a sold three-stars, maybe even three and a half. The check in was quick and easy, and the place was clean. The only room they had left was a double double but that was fine for hubby and I. A bed to sleep on and a bed to put our crap on. It was a decent sized room with the usual extras: mini fridge, coffeemaker, microwave, iron and ironing board, and a hair dryer. I did check for bed bugs before we brought anything in, and as of August 2014, all was good! The weird thing was the bathroom had no fan...so when you took a hot shower there wasn't an exhaust fan to help with the steam, but there was a nightlight built into the light switch. So there's that. The bathroom was big enough. Well, okay, truthfully, is there ever a bathroom big enough for a woman and her accoutrements? Yeah. No. But it worked. The room was quiet; we were right by the pool and I worried that it would be loud. I was physically exhausted after a 10 hour drive, and emotionally exhausted just from the circumstances, and wanted to get some rest, and luckily it was very quiet. Breakfast is included, and it's pretty dang good, as far as hotel breakfasts go! They have bagels, toast, eggs, sausage, biscuits, gravy, pancakes, cereal, OJ, coffee...and while it may have not been gourmet, it was always hot and the hotel staff was always refreshing it! That was nice...some places just put stuff out and when it's gone, it's gone, even if it's a couple hours left of serving time. I'm not sure I would stay here again, as all in all, it's not $80 worth of hotel, but it's a decent place if you need one here. read more

I've seen people talk about paying $80 in other reviews, so I'll say here that the rates have come down a bit. For one person (me), I paid $55. No pet fee, which was cool since I had my dogs. My room faced the pool but I didn't use it because, ya know, that COVID thing. The a/c was super cold and I actually had to turn it back to a warmer setting, which is nice to be able to say since I've been in places where you couldn't get it cold enough, no matter what. Me and the dogs had a single king room. It had a recliner, which was nice. The TV was OK but the channels are out of order in relation to the on-screen guide (ESPN was supposed to be on Ch. 9 but it was on 30-2). The shower had good water pressure and the water was nice and hot. Everything was clean when I arrived. There were some big groups of people booked in. One was even having a cookout when I arrived. But I couldn't hear any of it in my room, so kudos to whoever did the soundproofing. The motel is on the north edge of town but there are several restaurants nearby. Walmart is about 3/4ths of a mile south if you need it. All in all, a good place for the price. It's been there a while (I was told it started out as a Holiday Inn) but it doesn't show its age (except maybe in the dated carpet). I'd go back. read more

Staff was friendly, but after I had already booked I read some reviews that said they had bedbugs. Having read that, I checked immediately upon entering the room and saw several live bedbugs without even having to search much. The desk clerk was kind and agreed to immediately cancel the transaction. It is still showing as pending, but hopefully charges will be removed in a day or so. read more

Stayed there on a Monday night after a long day of driving. Paid for the room. Given a room on the backside of the hotel. Parking lot full of construction workers drinking outside and smoking. Room was clean, actually quiet and comfortable. Tv remote didn't work because of bad batteries. The workers were going in/out of their rooms till late and slamming doors was obnoxious. I booked his hotel because of the wonderful pictures their website offers, but unfortunately it wasn't what I expected. The lobby was extra small,the front desk ladies some of them were nice and others were a little testy. The room was OK, it didn't smell but it was a little dusty, the carpet had been vacuumed but it was still extremely dirty, I found out when I start walking around barefoot, they have dark colored carpets probably too hide the obvious, beds where small somewhat uncomfortable but they at least didn't have any bedbugs however the pillows were old and stained,The restroom was apparently clean but had a yucky smell, the floors were discusting they only sweep they don't mop so the floor cracks were nasty. Thankfully I brought some bleach and took care of the restroom cleansing myself. Breakfast area: The food was OK but the tables were nasty and OMG the flies were everywhere!! The old lady who by the way must not have a lot of customer service experience doesn't do her job, the pancake syrup bottles were always opened with all those flies in the room, so I had to get natural honey from the sealed packages, and for some reason they keep a huge open trash container right by the pancake machine with all those flies that's just unsanitary. The lady in charge keeps walking back and forth from the front desk too busy chitchatting with other employees but doesn't pay any attention to the guests, I stayed at the hotel for 2 weeks and never got a smile or a greeting from her.the youngest lady is a sweetheart and whenever she was there it was a lot better. As far as the halls and areas like the garden room and the fitness room well, the garden room is dusty the floors are nasty and the fitness room well all of the above plus the only two machines are old, broken and completely disgusting! They're sticky with sweat and who knows what else! I couldn't work out under those conditions they don't even provide disinfecting wipes nothing!! Ok the halls were dirty too, and if you get a room in the second floor be ready to carry your luggage upstairs cause they don't have an elevator or a bellboy. The storage areas where they keep the housekeeping stuff and those baby cribs you sometimes add for your little one well they're not clean or organized either, then at last the vending machines and ice machine rooms, take a guess.... Completely disgusting! I wish I could upload pictures to show you what they don't want you to see. read more

I can't really say enough nice things. I really didn't expect this nice of a motel for the price. The lobby was clean and nice. Once we got into our room, we couldn't get the a/c to come on. I called Lashonda at the front desk and she was very nice and helpful. She moved us to a king room. The room was very clean and nicely furnished. The recliner and reading lamp was a nice home like touch. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was very good with pancakes, waffles, eggs, sausage, fruit cups and everything else you normally expect. We also had a few drinks at the onsite pub that evening. Drinks were cheap and the bartender friendly. I would stay here again without hesitation! read more

Based on the qualities of safety cleanliness and amenities I would rate this hotel as solid 4 star. The check in was quick and friendly and well my room was not yet ready, the head of housekeeping have had a family emergency and I was in my room very quickly. The room was huge. The bathroom is also extra large and I had plenty of room for their just being me. Overall cleanliness inside the room was excellent however in the hallways common areas stairwells except for us and left a little to be desired. The high def TV and the refrigerator and the microwave when nice touches and the decent size desk was also much appreciated. Breakfast was below average and the biscuits were hard and the gravy was tasteless. You didn't have hot items selections with eggs and sausage but overall I was disappointed. The swimming pool was very nice and well kept and I had a wonderful afternoon keeping myself cool in the outside swimming pool. Overall I would think this is a good value for being $80 a night. I rode my bike in the rain and they allowed me to check in 5 yes five hours earlier so I could get a hot shower. I cannot tell you what that meant to me. No other hotel in Pittsburg Kansas or Joplin MO would accommodate me and I will go to the Lamplighter inn every time I am in Kansas visiting my son They have a bar with bar food in the lobby that opens at 5pm read more

We stayed here two nights and, I have to say, I was not impressed. There was a very noticeable animal smell (even though you're not suppose to have pets here) that would not go away despite the constant use of air freshener, there was a disposable flosser on the ground on arrival, and I found a live roach on the floor of the bathroom. I give this place two stars because it looks somewhat nice on the surface, but once you look a little closer, the place is pretty run down and gross. I can't help but look longingly at the polar-opposite looking Holiday Inn across the street. read more
