Well, can honestly say that the Lamplighter exceeded my expectations, especially for the price. Wasn't really expecting much, but stayed here for Homecoming weekend, so wasn't really in the room except to sleep. The rooms are nice and there is a good sized bathroom. The continental breakfast in the morning has a wide variety, which was very nice. Mulligan's Pub, which is the bar inside the Lamplighter has great drink prices and was also very nice inside. I just wish that the location was better, but I realize that is something that cannot be controlled.... .....had a nice room but I got bed bugs.... just wanted to point that out as well.

I was driving thru, tired, so checked Yelp and stayed at the Lamplighter Inn & Suites and glad I did. Check in was smooth and quick; I think her name was Jeannie and appreciated the conversation and food recommendation. The room was poolside and clean. The TV and air conditioning worked well. The bathroom was clean and well laid out. The bed was comfortable. I highly recommend staying here if you are going thru town

A solid three-star place. But that was with the funeral rate, too. The rooms are typically $80 a night per their website and that's just too high. What is the deal with high priced rooms in Pittsburg, KS? I know it's a college town, but really, is it that much of a hotbed of entertainment that the hotel rooms are ridiculously expensive? Anyway, I called to find out about a bereavement rate as my dad passed away, and his house was just too full of relatives for everyone. The lady on the phone was super sweet and quoted me a price of $69 a night. For that price, this place is a sold three-stars, maybe even three and a half. The check in was quick and easy, and the place was clean. The only room they had left was a double double but that was fine for hubby and I. A bed to sleep on and a bed to put our crap on. It was a decent sized room with the usual extras: mini fridge, coffeemaker, microwave, iron and ironing board, and a hair dryer. I did check for bed bugs before we brought anything in, and as of August 2014, all was good! The weird thing was the bathroom had no fan...so when you took a hot shower there wasn't an exhaust fan to help with the steam, but there was a nightlight built into the light switch. So there's that. The bathroom was big enough. Well, okay, truthfully, is there ever a bathroom big enough for a woman and her accoutrements? Yeah. No. But it worked. The room was quiet; we were right by the pool and I worried that it would be loud. I was physically exhausted after a 10 hour drive, and emotionally exhausted just from the circumstances, and wanted to get some rest, and luckily it was very quiet. Breakfast is included, and it's pretty dang good, as far as hotel breakfasts go! They have bagels, toast, eggs, sausage, biscuits, gravy, pancakes, cereal, OJ, coffee...and while it may have not been gourmet, it was always hot and the hotel staff was always refreshing it! That was nice...some places just put stuff out and when it's gone, it's gone, even if it's a couple hours left of serving time. I'm not sure I would stay here again, as all in all, it's not $80 worth of hotel, but it's a decent place if you need one here.

I booked his hotel because of the wonderful pictures their website offers, but unfortunately it wasn't what I expected. The lobby was extra small, the front desk ladies some of them were nice and others were a little testy. The room was OK, it didn't smell but it was a little dusty, the carpet had been vacuumed but it was still extremely dirty, I found out when I start walking around barefoot, they have dark colored carpets probably too hide the obvious, beds where small somewhat uncomfortable but they at least didn't have any bedbugs however the pillows were old and stained,The restroom was apparently clean but had a yucky smell, the floors were discusting they only sweep they don't mop so the floor cracks were nasty. Thankfully I brought some bleach and took care of the restroom cleansing myself. Breakfast area: The food was OK but the tables were nasty and OMG the flies were everywhere!! The old lady who by the way must not have a lot of customer service experience doesn't do her job, the pancake syrup bottles were always opened with all those flies in the room, so I had to get natural honey from the sealed packages, and for some reason they keep a huge open trash container right by the pancake machine with all those flies that's just unsanitary. The lady in charge keeps walking back and forth from the front desk too busy chitchatting with other employees but doesn't pay any attention to the guests, I stayed at the hotel for 2 weeks and never got a smile or a greeting from her.the youngest lady is a sweetheart and whenever she was there it was a lot better. As far as the halls and areas like the garden room and the fitness room well, the garden room is dusty the floors are nasty and the fitness room well all of the above plus the only two machines are old, broken and completely disgusting! They're sticky with sweat and who knows what else! I couldn't work out under those conditions they don't even provide disinfecting wipes nothing!! Ok the halls were dirty too, and if you get a room in the second floor be ready to carry your luggage upstairs cause they don't have an elevator or a bellboy. The storage areas where they keep the housekeeping stuff and those baby cribs you sometimes add for your little one well they're not clean or organized either, then at last the vending machines and ice machine rooms, take a guess.... Completely disgusting! I wish I could upload pictures to show you what they don't want you to see.

Avoid at all costs. I was in town for a wedding yesterday. Upon arrival, the hotel smelled like…read moreurine (pet friendly hotel) and when asked about extra towels for the pool was told they were cleaned out because of the fact they had most of their rooms full for the weekend(?). There were water stains on our ceiling, quarter-sized chips in the paint/plaster in our room, drapes appear to hand splatters of something (booze?) and broken tiles in various parts of the hotel. Given the fact it was a graduation weekend, we were able to look past most of it. The real rub came when I got home today 2 hours away and immediately realized we left my suit in the closet. I knew exactly where it was and called the office to ask them to grab it for me - indicating I could drive down the next day or pay for shipping. The person, Courtney, at first seemed nice enough and indicated she would look right away and call back. 2 hours went by and I thought I'd check in. She said she had looked and checked with housekeeping and It wasn't there. I was disappointed and figured it was thrown away (it was a custom suit) but really not totally convinced there was a real effort. Later that evening, my cousin (the bride of the wedding the day before) called to thank us for coming to town for the wedding. I shared the story as a (typical day in the life) about the suit situation and she insisted she go to the hotel to check one last time. She got the same person I had talked to by phone who explained she talked to me on the phone and said it wasn't there. I was told she also allegedly said, 'he had cute kids and all abs I bet they probably stuffed it under a bed or in a bag or something.' Thankfully, the owner happened to be in earshot, overheard the conversation, asked what's going went to check the room and came back with two hangers and my suit which was exactly where I had explained where it was. This story is just one of many that many others of my extended family had about the service here. Two stars ONLY because I have a suit back in my possession but one for everything else. Go to the Holiday Inn next door if you can.

There were no questions when we went in or left about the dog and the dog, and the dog had clearly identified service dog information attached to him. This hotel is as it turns out pet friendly for dog exactly like mine. Quiet, will behaved and 20 lb and just one dog. But again, I did not need to register him and I cannot be charged for him. 2 days after the visit I looked back at my credit card and it had been charged an extra $115 for the dog. I have looked back on the website and can find no way to contact either choice hotels or the proprietor of the business to ask about this. I will try calling their front desk but most of them have very little hard to do anything about this kind of an issue. I will be contacting my bank and disputing the additional charge, but I shouldn't need to. I did have a reservation to stop there on my way back home for a night but I will be changing that to a different hotel chain.

Everything was…read moresuper clean (spotless!), the microwave, TV, and refrigerator (larger than most provide) worked perfectly. The wifi was fast and reliable. There were 2 hand towels, body towels, and 1 floor mat. No need to request additional, this was more than enough. There was a delicious-smelling breakfast waiting the next morning, but I was in a rush to get back onto the road. Wish I'd taken the time to eat, in retrospect. The lovely front desk attendant was very sweet, professional, and clear. I have had none of the major issues others have mentioned. After staying at hotels all over the U.S., I can confirm, having a venting bathroom fan and complete control over the AC is becoming a rarity. The AC is typical of almost any motel/hotel you stay at. It hits you with the fan directly, so you have to find the right balance of sheets and covers, as the temperature difference between when it's on and off drifts a bit. Overall I'm very pleased with my stay at the Regency. I booked through their website and paid at the desk in-person. The price was about $88 after taxes and fees. Definitely recommended. Be kind, and I believe that kindness will be returned. If you're on your way through Pittsburg, KS and need a place to stay, seriously consider this as a place to rest.

Also the motel's bed was super hard, the old AC unit came off & on every 10 minutes so we didn't get any sleep. You can only put so much paint on the wall. This is a old MOTEL! I wouldn't pay $5 if you can't get sleep! And their doing upcharges on their partner reservations sites!! Shouldn't need to be deceptive to your guests.
