I can't say "splurged" because it cost little more than an average hotel room, and the cooked-to-order homemade breakfast was much better than you'd find in a hotel. Sherri and Jeff are incredibly gracious and intuitive hosts: there when you need them, but otherwise, they let you be. The porch alone of this rambling abode is larger than some San Francisco apartments, and every window of my room looked out upon lush greenery. I slept well in the big bed and thoroughly enjoyed the historic feel of the Himmel House. Couples will love this B & B, and business travelers take heed: a place like this is a welcome break from hotel life. You won't regret staying here.

There were no questions when we went in or left about the dog and the dog, and the dog had clearly identified service dog information attached to him. This hotel is as it turns out pet friendly for dog exactly like mine. Quiet, will behaved and 20 lb and just one dog. But again, I did not need to register him and I cannot be charged for him. 2 days after the visit I looked back at my credit card and it had been charged an extra $115 for the dog. I have looked back on the website and can find no way to contact either choice hotels or the proprietor of the business to ask about this. I will try calling their front desk but most of them have very little hard to do anything about this kind of an issue. I will be contacting my bank and disputing the additional charge, but I shouldn't need to. I did have a reservation to stop there on my way back home for a night but I will be changing that to a different hotel chain.

The room was big as was the bathroom, and it had a nice shower head that didn't hit you with wimpy spray! The maid was not so great though. She came in and made the bed and did nothing else the first day. Which is fine except we were out of tissues and toilet paper. So we saw the maid in the hall as we were leaving and asked for more tp and tissues. When we got back we had the tp and tissues and clean hand towels and wash clothes but they took our bath towels and didn't replace them. We got some from the front desk but it was all a little irritating. The breakfast was good. Your normal fare of waffles, scrambled eggs, biscuits, gravy, sausage, breast, etc. Very few pastries though. No danish or cinnamon rolls, just little blueberry muffins. They had an indoor pool but no hot tub and after a 12 hour drive, I sure could have used one! It was quiet and clean though and that's a plus! It is across from the cemetery though so be aware if that gives you heebie jeebies. I'd stay here again though as that doesn't bother me! Maybe that's why the Bible was in the room.

Even with the shiny new ring doorbell, I still had to call just to get someone to the front desk. Breakfast? If you can call it that. A few unpackaged, sketchy-looking items and a painfully limited selection that didn't exactly scream "good morning." Let's just say I left hungrier -- and more skeptical -- than when I arrived. I checked delivery options and found none plus it was going to be 30 min or more for a Lyft. So word to wise, eat early.

Reservation was for 79.99 I received credit card receipt online and it was $129.99! 61% in taxes and fees. Motel said it was out of their hands. I called toll free number on receipt and said the reservations said NOTHING about these fees. She put me on hold and said they would credit $7????? No I disputed full charge on my VISA. Also the motel's bed was super hard, the old AC unit came off & on every 10 minutes so we didn't get any sleep. You can only put so much paint on the wall. This is a old MOTEL! I wouldn't pay $5 if you can't get sleep! And their doing upcharges on their partner reservations sites!! Shouldn't need to be deceptive to your guests.
