For a quick pass through Truth or Consequences, the Comfort Inn is a budget-friendly option right off the highway. The rooms are clean and decently appointed, with newer showers and decent counter space. Didn't appreciate having a toilet with no lid right next to the sink and tub, as it makes it feel more like a public restroom and could be a safety concern, but other than that the bedroom and bath area are generally comfortable spaces. The building itself is a bit tired, with handwritten notes taped to multiple items on various floors, and the dining room would benefit from having the heavy drapes drawn open to let in some natural light. Pro tip: if you are going into the Black Range, this is a good place to stay because it is so close to I-25. And one last chance shopping at Walmart and eating McDonald's [pretty much right next door] before you die hiking, camping, firefighting, or just holding a space. With respect! It's currently 2:30 in the morning and I'm lying in a bed as hard as a rock listening to all the noise in the hallway and the room next door. This place has paper thin walls! A/c is so loud it wakes you up every 10 minutes when it kicks on. And I cannot for the life of me identify that smell!! Everything metal in the bathroom is rusted. And when we arrived there was no hot water. I recommend the Holiday Inn next door! read more

Was in town for the dog show over the weekend. Honestly, my expectations weren't high. But I was pleasantly surprised. Opted to pop for a nicer room, booked the king suite. 'cause I was feeling fancy. Secured a reasonable rate, receiving a discount for paying at time of booking. No issues with the room at all. Staff was great. The hotel was upfront about the pet fees for the room, which were reasonable. Even got a nice little goodie bag for each dog at check in. The staff obviously read my notes about room preferences, when I indicated that I was probably going to arrive between 0000-0100 and got there around 2330. Now when I got to my room, I walked in and it was cold. Beautifully, wonderfully cold. I was still hot when I drove in and this was such a welcomed surprised. The fridge was cold. Everything in the room was in great shape and working order. And so many kudos for having more than two pillows on the bed. There were five. Felt so spoiled. Also a nice plus, the hot breakfast. Nice, big selection of options. One of the better self serve hotel breakfasts I've seen. And did I mention the staff? They were friendly without being that insincere "ma'am" type. My only annoyance was with other guests. Like the people not using leashes for their little dogs (no - this is not cute, nor safe), waiting for people to get off the elevator before getting one, or leaving melting ice all over the floor after filling your giant ice chest. Is TorC high on my list of destinations? Not really. But when the show is in town again, I'll book here, no hesitations read more

Upon check-in we noticed the room smelled like poop. I flushed the toilet and ran water in the sink and tub thinking I could remedy the sewer-type smell. No luck. After several trips in and out of the room, the smell was still quite noticeable so I zipped across the street to the local Wally World - within walking distance - to get air freshener, a candle, and beer. No explanation needed on the air freshener; the beer was to give me a headstart on sleeping in a room that smelled like doo doo. I'd like to give a shout out to the Great Value Eucalyptus and Sage candle that totally saved the night. Between that and my Marble Double White, I totally scored some Zzzs. In case you're wondering, the poopy smell was still lingering the following morning. read more

Clean rooms with plenty of towels. New Mexico has strict rules for COVID so the pool was drained and no alternative breakfast was provided. The front desk person said there would be muffins and coffee provided as to-go to make up for the no hot breakfast. However, I never saw these mystery muffins and coffee was only out 2 out of 5 mornings. read more

We have stayed here many times over the years, on our way to AZ. This stay has been a disappointment! This hotel needs a major update! Old furniture, leaky faucets, parking lot felt unsafe, hotel doors from the parking lot had the locks broken off, so not secure at all! Room cleanliness was sketchy and room had a strange odor. This is a clean, modern hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful. There is an indoor pool although I believe it's closed due to the pandemic. The only downsides- lots of construction worker crews stay here, and they tend to be up and slamming doors early. Under normal conditions there's also a lot of vacationing families/ lake boat type people here on weekends and they can be noisy in the hallways also. But the rooms themselves are nice and quiet. read more

Beware of Rude Staff at this Comfort Inn My husband and I have been staying here for years as we travel frequently between Tucson, AZ & Taos, NM to visit family. We have recommended it numerous times to friends and family who all took our advice and stayed as well. We are such good customers that our room was free this time around because we have so many points. Great - right? Yes - until the last two times we have stayed here. The last time, which was less than a month ago, when I checked it I had to walk through a cloud of smoke to get in. I waited for about two minutes at the front desk only to discover the woman on the bench outside was the one smoking and she finished her cigarette before she came in to check me in. And was she ever surly on top of it all. She was clearly annoyed or out of sorts but not at all friendly. To be honest, I was shocked because our experience with the staff has always been stellar. When my husband went back less than 10 minutes later, she was outside again talking on her phone and he had to wait for her to finish her conversation and her cigarette. I was so upset I emailed the General Manager and told him what happened. He responded back and said he would look into it. When I checked in tonight, I went in with a good attitude because of how positive so many of our experiences have been. This time, the person who checked us in was worse. She didn't look at me when I came to the desk, acted pretty annoyed and like she wanted to get this over with. NO customer service attitude whatsoever. Then I had to ask her why she needed my credit card when I used points and that I was just curious since the room was paid for. She said "for incidentals." As someone who has traveled most of my adult life, I admit I kind of chuckled, did not think I was being rude and said "what kind of incidentals since you don't have room service or an honor bar in the room?" She said it was in case someone smokes in the room or steals a TV." Yikes! I said I never heard those things referred to as incidentals. It went down hill from there. She mumbled something about well they do every place she has ever worked. I asked if she could at least be civil with me and why was she being so rude. Her response? "Have a good night." I asked if she was dismissing me. To which she replied "Have a good night" and kept repeating herself. I have NEVER ever been treated so rudely by anyone in the service industry and that is the truth written into word. In reading some of the other reviews, I would say my experience this time was more like Monique who wrote a review and other times like the reviewers who said the staff was friendly. I won't be referring anyone to this location again and will look around at other places in T or C to hopefully find more consistent customer service and refer friends and family to. We dine out here, buy gas here, have shopped in some of the stores on the main street and I would think that for a place like this, those things would be of value. . read more

Absolutely the worst managed hotel I have ever been to anywhere. Cleaning staff did not clean room after even being told it was ready and responding of course, didn't happen once but two times. Better hope no problems at night, one person does front desk and everything else. After a long day at lake got to hotel. of course no amenities at front desk, only two vending machines and BOTH EMPTY. AND THIS HAPPENED TWO SEPARATE STAYS. The accommodations were nice. The receptionist at the front desk was helpful and the room was clean and comfortable. The two star rating is for the free continental breakfast. The breakfast is available from 6am until 9am and the food selection was very nice. However, don't show up within the last half hour of the breakfast. The food seemed to be on a first come first serve basis. There was hardly anything left to eat. The "food lady" wasn't replenishing the food supply. So, we needed to ask her for more bread, more eggs, more milk, etc. Then when we asked it was as if we were inconveniencing her! If breakfast is available until 9am that means the food selection should be replenished and available to the guests up until 9am!!!! read more

April 5, 2011. Paid $95.00 for one night, upon arrival to our room we discovered they had ripped out all the carpeting in the hallway. They were putting some sort of chemical on the bare floor that Thad horrible noxious fumes. I have a lung disease and we were not informed about the chemicals being applied before or after we paid for the room. When we went to see if there was another room available, we were given a room on the same floor with the same fumes. The chemicals made it very hard for me to breath and made me very sick. The lady at the desk was furious because we complained. I wouldn't suggest anyone stay here that has any illness. Also, there is no elevator for folks with disabilities read more

My husband and I were on the road for 13 1/2 hours coming from California. We weathered the storm and we're ready for a good night rest. I booked this hotel online and was given a confirmation. So I thought, great no problem. When we got to the hotel I explained to the the front desk that had It was secured an online reservation and gave me a confirmation number. She then proceeded to say, "WERE BOOKED!" Very rudely. Then another employee who was either the manager or a front desk changing his shift says, "Yeah you should probably call the online booking company and BITCH THEM OUT. " As you can imagine I was very tired and upset to be dealing with their attitudes or lack of professionalism. After pleading my case, I just walked out. No use in arguing they obviously could not and did not want to help me. It took two hours to find another hotel. I would not recommend them based on first impression and experience upon walking in. They also have very limited parking. I would however, recommend the Elephant Butte Inn & Spa they were great. Took us in last minute, better prices, they serve breakfast, have and onsite bar and we couldn't be more grateful for their hospitality. read more

The ac here is ice cold. The breakfast service is phenomenal. The bed is very comfy and the pillow choice is excellent. We have stayed at different Comfort Suites and the service at this one stands out. The lady attending to breakfast makes your waffle for you. She keeps everything stocked and cleaned. The eggs taste better here than any other hotel. Wish they had biscuits but the assortments of breads is huge. This place is also very clean. Every room is well taken care of. The hotel itself is surrounded by restaurants. No need to drive for something to eat. Also there are candy bars for sale for $1 begins the front desk. If you have to be in T or C this hotel is the best choice! read more

I absolutely love this Comfort Inn. The staff is Grade A+ and their rates can't be beat. It's always clean and comfortable. I really think of it as a Ritz Carlton at a quarter of the price. I'm always overwhelmed by the hospitality and friendliness of the staff. Their Breakfast is just as good as any continental style breakfast with lots of different choices. I highly recommended it over the Denny's next door. The exercise room can't be beat either. It's got everything you'd need for a quick and easy workout. This hotel was nice, but room needed some work done on the grout in the bathroom. It was clean and comfortable.We slept good. The people were friendly. There was an indoor pool, but we were too tired to swim. There was a Denny's next door and they gave us a 20% discount at Dennys for staying at the Comfort Inn. That was nice. Dogs stay for free, but they didn't have a military discount like most Comfort Inns. I would stay here again if I was in the area. read more

I'm giving this hotel 5 stars to make up for the last review. It looks like that one was written in 2011 so things have probably changed since then. I wasn't expecting much in this sleepy little town but I was very happily surprised to find that this hotel is the best one I've stayed at so far on my road trip. The man at the front desk was super friendly & very accommodating--he put us on the first floor after seeing how much luggage we were carrying and recommended places for dinner. I was also pleased to see that there's a hot tub and swimming pool (forgot about that!) as well as a hot breakfast in the morning. There aren't a lot of places to stay around here, so I think this might be the best one!! Definitely recommend it and would come back if I'm ever back here! read more

came upon this place on a cross country road trip. needed a place to stay and the other cheap options in town didnt seem too appealing. so the comfort inn it was. the room was great. two beds and a couch for 70 dollars. the lady at the front desk was extremely friendly which was a welcomed surprise after dealing with some terrible hotel managers previously. my only complaint would be that we got there too late to enjoy the big room with a dvd player. must have just been remodeled or something because everything was new clean and quite nice for the price. would definitely recommend staying here. read more

The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Felt like all I did was complain, but there were many issues that could not be ignored. 1. Toilet was clogged. Was fixed immediately. 2. Voice mail message lightblinking. Tried to access message, was informed there were no messages, but light kept blinking. Contacted the front desk and was told it must be a glitch in the system. Next day, the cleaning person was able to fix the problem. 3. Bathroom fan made screerching noise when turned on. Was fixed. 4. Attempted to get some breakfast the first morning and selection was very minimal. No eggs left and coffee was luke warm. Went to Denny's for breakfast both mornings we were there. 5. Door off parking lot was not locked. Not very secure. 6. Spa-please be care when getting in and out. There are no steps. ALso, while sitting in the spa and looking at the water inlet, there were some type of stalactites hanging in there. NO clue what is was, but looked disgusting. This was bought to their attention and I think was addressed immediately. 7. Ask for a second floor room and away from vending/ice machine. 5:00 a.m., people filling their ice bucket. I am sure they were getting ready to leave for the day, but there was enough noice to wake me. 6:00 a.m., the people in the room above us were up and about; sounded as if a herd of elephants were walking up there. read more

I called in a wake up call and was woke up 30 minutes early. The room has two phones. They kept calling and calling I finally had to unplug the phone. I got into the shower and at this point I felt harassed because the second phone started calling. I was in the shower and it got to the point the guests next to me started banging on the wall. Comfort Inn I would not have had the time to write this if you would not have woke me up 30 minutes early. The internet is also not high speed. read more
