I haven't had the pleasure of staying in a holiday inn for a long time. I don't have anything against the chain, far from it. I just don't find myself in a Holiday inn loyalty program. The staff was kind, the lobby was clean. The room was pretty clean except that the shower in the bathroom smelled like mildew. I think they need to replace the shower curtain. The breakfast buffet was adequate. They had all the common breakfast buffet goods including a pancake robot machine. Parking was safe and plentiful. read more

Arguably the best hotel in town. Everything in the lobby area seems to be relatively new. The room was fine...comfortable, but nothing epically different. The bathroom could use a little TLC with the creaky bathroom floor and dirty shower lines. Overall, we will likely stay here again and just ask for a better room. read more

I checked in and the TV's don't work. I was told to reset the box. The front desk agent came up to reset the box. The maintenance man reset the box. He said they were all like that and he can't control the satellite! It would have been nice to know before check-in that the TV's were all malfunctioning. I would have stayed elsewhere. I am an IHG club member and the front desk did nothing for my frustration. They shouldn't be a Holiday Inn. read more

Front desk agent, I believe her name was Gaywell, absolutely terrible. I don't know if it was a bad day for her or what. She was checking me in; didn't mention breakfast hours or location, didn't mention Pool hours or location. She says she needs a card doesn't mention the $20 hold until I ask what the charge was for. She basically hands me the keys and that's it. I asked if they had a property map so I could see where the room was. She looked at me like I was speaking Chinese and eventually said they don't have one. I then had to ask so where is the room located? I travel through this area a minimum of 4 times a year and I've been to a few hotels. I was really disappointed in the experience here. The hotel is clean, room are not too old and in good condition. When we arrive we had to wait 10 minutes for our room to be ready. Strange considering it was passed 6PM. The water is warm, but not hot. Also there is not plug in the bathtub. I was looking for a hot bath after a rough day of hike. There is TV, fridge, microwave and coffee machine in the room. read more

In my opinion, this location doesn't live up to the HIE brand. It doesn't represent the quality I've come to expect. When we entered our room at 9:00 pm, we were overcome with an odor that made me want to walk out. My wife was too tired to fight it and sprayed the room with good smells. I wasn't going to post a yelp review but only sent it privately to hie.torc email but, since no one responded to address my concern that the room needed a deep cleaning, I'm interpreting it as apathy. read more

I am an IHG club member plus a vacation owner who pays a lot of money to stay at nice facilities. I get here after driving 1000 miles the put me on a 3rd floor which is fine, but put me next to something very noisy all night. I assume washers and dryers. I paid over $160 for this room. I feel like I should have been compensated back what I paid. Before that my keys don't work, I call the front desk and the lady says that I will need to come back down stairs and have her make me new keys. I told her I had an arm full of bags and she tells me that she is the only one here. I get new keys and once again my keys do not work. So I go back down stairs and she re programs then and then tells me I have to go up with the door knob, not down. I told her I did both ways. I'm not dumb. I travel for work and I stay in IHG hotels on the regular. Then o get in here and the room obviously wasn't clean. There is hair in the sink, rust on every chrome item in the bathroom, I took pictures. I'm not happy. I won't be staying at this location and I will be filing a complaint. read more

Clean. Pleasant. New. Conveniently located off the freeway. There's a gas station, Walmart, and McDonalds near by. What else do you need when you're traveling? LOL. This hotel is about a 3-5 minute drive from "town". It is not far at all! I'm only in Truth or Consequences to enjoy the hot springs. I couldn't get reservations at Riverbend so I opted to stay at a hotel chain that I'm familiar with. Free breakfast. Complimentary refreshments and cookies in the lobby. Friendly staff. Comfortable beds. Bathroom amenities is nice. This is a great place to stay when you're at TorC! read more

In a trip from CA to Indy we drove through eight states and stayed in the Holiday Inn Express hotels in Tucumcari, Oklahoma City, and St Louis. We found each of the to be clean, staff courteous, services professional and would do so again. It was a consistent product in all three leaving nothing to surprise. I did find that the newest in St Louis had some issues in my mother laws room with some mold in the shower, toilet handle in need of repairs but my room didn't have the same. They honor an AARP discount so if your are looking for good quality and consistency I would recommend staying their for travelers. No one wants issues in a nightly stay after driving all day! read more

Rooms were nice and comfortable. Main problem was price for amenities (1) no hot water, (2) pool closed and drained, (3) no hot breakfast as advertised. Oh and without these, the price still remains the same. Should've just stayed at the Travelodge or Motel 6 next door. read more

I want to think that this is a new hotel. The inside was amazingly clean and well kept. Check in was very easy with a very friendly and helpful gal working the desk. She provided me the room I requested, pointed me to the free hot cookies that were calling my name, and where the free breakfast would be in the morning before leading me towards the lift were I would find my very clean and tidy room waiting for me. The room was clean with plenty of power sources in the room for charging even a high number of electronics someone would have. They had a workout room, not too flashy but if you want to get some cardio in without going outside it would serve the purpose. There is a Walmart within walking distance, right up the hill from the hotel making it ideal if wanting to run out for snacks or drinks without having to take the car. The only thing I would point out is that is a one way road into the property and I found that out the hard way when it came time for me to leave the first time. The exit is actually around the back in the same direction to get to the Walmart. It makes sense now that the road has increased with traffic getting to the Walmart and will avoid accidents but it wasn't really known to me until I tried to leave. I would definitely stay here again when in the neighborhood, for the service, the cleanliness and its very close proximity to Elephant Butte and the lake. read more

I travel a lot, worldwide, and I am quite a snob when it comes to hotels so the hotel really has to earn its 5 on my reviews. I don't want to pay to stay somewhere away from home and be in a place worse than my home. I usually stay in 5 star hotels but there were none when I had to book my business trip to Truth or Consequences. The Holiday Inn Express looked like the best choice. I am very happy with my decision. It is very nicely decorated. It is very clean. The bed is comfortable. They have free WiFi that works very well. There is a nice breakfast included. The little amenities they offer like a Keurig coffee machine and K cups are appreciated. Apples and cookies when you check in. Aside from the view, my room here was actually better and bigger than the room I had recently at the Mandarin Oriental in NY at $750 a night. Here I paid under $100. read more

Of all the hotels in this immediate area, this one is definitely the best. The staff is super friendly, the property well maintained. There is a little snack shop next to the front desk. Full hot breakfast in the AM included with your rate, warm cookies in the afternoon. They also have a heated indoor pool and hot tub. The rooms are comfortable and clean. I have stayed here twice now and would definitely choose HIE in T or C again. read more

Great hotel, but a lack of wifi for over 24 hours is unacceptable. I'd love to say I would stay here, but if you need wifi for work or other uses, this hotel is not for you. Even trying to hardwire in with an Ethernet cable didn't work. Front desk was no help. Too bad. Really wanted to like it. read more

An oasis in the desert. After several days of 8+ hours of driving, I used this hotel as a rest stop. I'm glad I did! Great bed, great amenities (WiFi was great to have), and the breakfast sounded good; I had to leave before it started, but I'm sure it would have been good too. Bottom line: for the cost, YOU. Rooms were decent, they lost two stars due to the fact that I walked down at 930, the hot food was empty. At about 945 it almost seemed like people set their alarms to make sure they made it to breakfast before 10. You would think they would refill, we asked the front desk if they would to which they answered yes. I saw the two ladies cooking back there, apparently it was for themselves. Had to take the family to eat at Denny's. Next time I guess we better set the alarm at 6 am to be able to get hot breakfast. read more

Super clean & quiet. The front desk man was extremely helpful, gave us a killer rate for a suite and found us a room close to the doors so my handicapped grandfather could easily walk in. The room was very clean, the towels were really soft and the beds were actually very comfy. The breakfast was hot and super fresh; eggs, bacon, sausage, oatmeal, cereal, fruit, biscuits, sausage gravy, and more. I highly recommend this hotel. read more

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS LOCATION unless it doesn't bother you when they turn the air conditioner off after you go to sleep. My wife and I stayed at this location August 13, 2013. Everything was fine when we went to sleep; however, about 1:45 AM we awoke to a miserably hot room. We had driven from Tucson the previous day in the 100+ degree heat, and were looking so forward to a cool relaxing evening. As it turned out, the room thermostat had a motion sensor incorporated in it that turned the air conditioning off after a preset period of time. After both of us getting wide awake trying to determine the problem, we discovered we had to move about the room and wave our hands simulating the room was occupied before the air conditioner would come back on. I spoke with the motel manager at checkout, described the problem, and asked for the room to be compensated. He immediately became belligerent and said the room wasn't on a motion sensor and that he would never compensate a room at checkout because I didn't bring the problem to anyone's attention when it occurred. The manager then turned to who appeared to be a maintenance person and asked if what I was saying regarding the motion sensor was true expecting him to back his story up. The maintenance person said yes they are on motion sensors. The manager then said if I had brought it to someone's attention when I noticed the problem, they could have moved me to another room. I said that was absurd to move to another room that had exactly the same problem at 2:00 o'clock in the morning. The conversation became very argumentative and the manager reluctantly offered a 10% reduction in the bill and further suggested I could stay elsewhere on my next trip to Truth or Consequences. I emailed a formal complaint to IHG (Intercontinental Hotels Group), which is the corporate entity responsible for worldwide franchising and branding of not only Holiday Inn Express, but other brands such as Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, Staybridge Suites, Candlewood Suites, Hotel Indigo, and others. Specifically, I asked for full compensation of the room AND for review of their policy regarding curtailing certain comfort utilities in the middle of the night. I recommended this particular manager be trained in how to interact with customers in a courteous and professional manner. I further suggested if they continue this policy, that perhaps guests should be instructed upon arrival they should plan on waking up every couple of hours and waving their arms during the night just to keep the air conditioner running. After two email exchanges with IHG customer service, they offered 4,500 points on my Priority Rewards which is useless, but continued to stand by their manager's response and decision. read more
