I was excited about visiting Fallingwater, Frank Lloyd Wright's architectural masterpiece, but their only open time slot was at 8AM. I thought it would be wise to find a hotel close by rather than risk facing early morning traffic driving in from Pittsburgh. Connellsville was as close as I could get. Sitting on the edge of the Youghiogheny River, this hotel was a welcome sight after a long drive from Pittsburgh. I reserved a room with a King bed and river view. The view proved to be irrelevant because I couldn't see the river in the dark. Just as I entered the room, the fire alarm went off, so I went downstairs to find no one gathered. In fact, the patrons at the lobby bar didn't leave their stools. I couldn't tell when I could return to my room because the front desk staff was nowhere to be seen. A false alarm, I guess. For $127, I found the room satisfactory and quiet enough. Dining options were paltry unless I was willing to drive. There was a casual spot next door, though I walked ten minutes to an alternative spot for sushi. I got up early because Fallingwater was still a 40-minute drive away. We visited Pittsburgh and Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater house and this hotel is conveniently located for the trip back to DC. What a surprise! We stayed at Hyatt Place Pittsburgh-North Shore before this Comfort Inn. Amazingly, it was a much better experience. We had two rooms. The rooms are very clean. We had river-side rooms with the view of the river. The location is amazing. It is right on the Youghiogheny River and next to the GAP bike trail. Make sure to ask for a river-view room if possible. There is a nice porch in the back from the breakfast area where you can enjoy the beautiful river and the trains rolling past in the distance. The hotel has a little bar, the rates are very reasonable. Also, make sure you do not miss the restaurant next door, The River's Edge. Really great food, great service. The elevator was not working when we checked in. So we carried the luggages up the stairs. Not a big deal. Still won't take away from a great hotel stay. This Comfort Inn is a hidden gem. We certainly will book again when visiting the area next time. read more

Very clean hotel right next to the river. We got a Riverview room. We could see the river and up above the train tracks. Very relaxing. They have a nice little breakfast and the staff could not be nicer. Our little refrigerator was not working and the maintenance man had gone home for the day. The girl at the desk Cheryl actually brought it up herself. I would definitely recommend this place. read more

Comfort Inn - A beautiful little pool - Hotels Near Me - Connellsville, Pennsylvania

My boyfriend who is an architectural designer, had Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater home on the top of his bucket list. The closest place to stay near Fallingwater seems to be in Connersville at the Comfort Inn. Fortunately, this Comfort Inn turned out to be a good place to stay. Our room was of good size, spotlessly clean, comfortable, and with a good view. The complimentary breakfast doesn't amount to much, but the staff working it were friendly and polite as were the desk clerks. I particularly liked this Comfort Inn as it had a good bar, a friendly bartender, and reasonably priced drinks of a generous pour. But the best thing about this Comfort Inn is its location right on a clean Appalachian waterway, the Youghiogheny River. The back patio overlooks the Youghiogheny and is one of the most relaxing and beautiful settings one could ask for, especially with its surrounding sycamore tree cover overlay lining the embankments. read more

This hotel is very nice, however a bit run down, not sure how old it is but it had some wear and tear. It has a nice little bar and a small patio next to the river to sit and relax at. The staff were friendly and service was great. Breakfast was really good, and the location was great for biking on the trail. It is close to some railroad tracks on the other side of the river, so it can be a little noisy at night. read more

This hotel was an unexpected surprise. I am biking the GAP trail. Erin was more than helpful. She pointed out how the hotel accommodates bikers with towels and a hose to wipe down the limestone. She had coins and detergent ready for our laundry. My room was immaculate and modern, superior to my night at the Joinery in Pittsburgh the night before. Staff tries hard here. Great place for anyone on the trail or wanting to utilize the river. (bikes and kayaks available at the hotel too. They think of everything.) read more

Place is clean, new, nice and nice view of river. However... there's an active railroad across the river. We can hear , feel and see the trains all day long and night too! They change cars and it is noisy and crashing so there's the feel. Great smallish pool, good breakfast, and terrific washer and dryer. Only $4 to do a good amount of laundry. Riding the GAP trail and planning to camp... after a day of rain and limestone sludge covered bike and body... wet and cold decided to stay here instead... what a treat. "River view" is also "train view." This hotel is clean, comfortable, and friendly. There's a picturesque patio overlooking the river and even a cute little bar inside. The night staff handled an issue with our room in a prompt and courteous manner, providing a satisfactory remedy. So why not five stars? The train! The train! The tracks are just across the river and the horns and rumbling woke us up many times during the night. We had a river view room; perhaps the street side is quieter in this case. read more

Staff was friendly. Lobby clean and inviting. Price was fair at desk but got a better deal on an app. Room was well lit and very clean, shower was plenty hot. Linen and towels all clean. Very nice room. If I was grading on just that it would be 5 stars. it is what I would expect from a Comfort Inn. I was staying over to catch a train approximately a mile away. There was no shuttle, no Uber, no taxi service. In my opinion if you are the only hotel in the area and you know your town doesn't have any transportation options. Have someone on stand by to drive folks to the train station. That was my only complaint. I didn't eat breakfast because I had to walk dragging luggage, but saw everything ready it look pretty good typical hotel breakfast. All in all it was a pleasant stay. Overall super stay! Fantastic place for customer service! On my two-day stay, the staff went out of their way to help me --three times! A day after my trip, I realized that I left a nice cooler with two Yeti cups in the circular drive. The hotel found the cooler for me, cleaned out the green smoothie in the Yeti cups, and shipped it all back to me! What? Yes, they did all that. It is clean, quiet, and great for biking/hiking.
