My boyfriend who is an architectural designer, had Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater home on the top of his bucket list. The closest place to stay near Fallingwater seems to be in Connersville at the Comfort Inn. Fortunately, this Comfort Inn turned out to be a good place to stay. Our room was of good size, spotlessly clean, comfortable, and with a good view. The complimentary breakfast doesn't amount to much, but the staff working it were friendly and polite as were the desk clerks. I particularly liked this Comfort Inn as it had a good bar, a friendly bartender, and reasonably priced drinks of a generous pour. But the best thing about this Comfort Inn is its location right on a clean Appalachian waterway, the Youghiogheny River. The back patio overlooks the Youghiogheny and is one of the most relaxing and beautiful settings one could ask for, especially with its surrounding sycamore tree cover overlay lining the embankments.

South Broadway Manor - Lovely dining room setting for the complimentary delicious breakfast

    South Broadway Manor

Our host, Pat, was incredibly warm, welcoming, and gracious, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The full breakfast, served in a stunning historic dining room, was absolutely delicious and a wonderful way to start the day. Our room was spacious, beautifully appointed, and exceptionally comfortable. I only wish we could have stayed longer to admire and learn more about the remarkable collection of antiques and historic furnishings that Pat has thoughtfully incorporated throughout this elegant manor. Every room had its own unique charm and character. If you're traveling near Pittsburgh or anywhere in western Pennsylvania, don't miss the opportunity to stay at South Broadway Manor. It's a memorable experience filled with history, hospitality, comfort, and charm. We highly recommend it!

Aside from being very friendly, welcoming and providing excellent service, the owner Pat is a treasure trove of facts about the local area, the story behind the property and the family who owned it in the 1800s and early 1900s. She provides a social and historical context that weaves Broadway Manor into American history. It's like living in a museum with carefully curated artifacts from the Civil War, the Gilded Age and beyond. An added bonus? If you're interested, Pat will provide an impromptu tour and oral guide. I'd stay there again in a heartbeat. I don't think you can fully absorb the experience in one trip. Pat is a gem. Her attention to detail is impeccable. If she ever stops running the B&B, I hope Broadway Manor is turned into a museum. It's definitely worth the money.
