Worst stay ever! First il start by saying the room had a sour, moldy smell. The guest service employees were very rude with lots of prejudice towards the black race. Because I was the only black male there with my family they falsely accused me of smoking Marijuana in the room which they charged me 250 a day, without checking the room just word from the owner's friend saying he smelled Marijuana on the floor I was staying. Although the times they stated I was out with my family.when talking to some of the associates and the manager they were never sync in their reasons or findings and they sent me on the runaround never giving me real reasons how they came to this conclusion. I tried calling customer service all they would say is they working on it and it takes 4 business days. This is a very racist hotel and if you have darker skin I will suggest you book your stay somewhere else. read more

We checked in on Thursday evening after a seven hour drive. I asked and received a handicapped room. My husband has emphysema so I got him settled in for the evening. Being diabetic I needed a protein with my carb. I also wanted to walk to get my steps in. I needed a cup of milk. I asked the guy at the front desk where could I walk to get milk. He said there was a place across the street and down a little ways but he did not suggest crossing the street because it was so busy. Then he suggested a gas station on the hotels side but it was kind of far down. So in frustration I just walked back to the room and gave up on my snack for the night. When we went to get breakfast the next day I found milk next to the cereal. I was aggravated to learn he could have gotten me a cup of milk for my snack. He was not even busy at the desk that night as I was talking to him. When we checked out in the morning he was at the desk. I told him how disappointed I was in him that he could have gotten me milk that night and he did not. I feel like he did not go that extra mile for a guest. read more

I checked in and smelled a funky smell said okay maybe my room will be different paid for my stay went up stairs walked into my room the smell was 10x worse. Stains on the floor. Restroom was dirty! The furniture was worn out I took pictures and went back down stairs turned in my key and said I will not be staying here. I will stick with with IHG. I thought I'd save a couple bucks and did not go with them and instantly regretted it. I will NEVER again stay with choice hotels! Now I know why I was never a member! I stayed here one night. The hotel manager is very friendly. I am a diamond member. They have a nice hot tub and outside pool, with lots of palm trees. The AC works good. The breakfast is excellent! They have fresh orange juice, and not from a machine. They have fresh made oatmeal, and the raisins were a plus! The have a happy hour lite dinner during the week. I scheduled reservation for same day. They got my credit card info to guarantee the room. I was told my total would be $76 plus change. A few hours I get a call from a guy who works for the hotel wanting to know if we were still planning on coming...I told him, "yes, we are an hour away". Ok....see you when you get here. Less than an hour later my card was charged the amount of the room. Okaaaayyyy....not your typical protocol. So we get to hotel and she asks me for the card and wanted me to swipe it. I told her you already took money from my account. She denied it and said it was just on hold. Nothing was even said when scheduling the reservation about a deposit. I said if I swipe this now it will decline because YOU already charged my card BEFORE I even checked in! She said that was a "deposit". We ended up paying cash for the rest and we will get the deposit back when we check out. Grrr! We get to our room and attempted to open the door and IT WAS LOCKED FROM THE INSIDE!!! We tried to open it and then hubby decided to go down stairs to let them know we couldn't get into our room. We were tired....we spent 12 hours driving this day and just wanted to rest. THEY ASSIGNED US AN ALREADY OCCUPIED ROOM!! So they reassigned us another room. Poor lady in 306...I'm sure we scared the crap out of her! We were pretty atiment about getting in there too. Then I was in the room by myself (hubby had to run an errand) and I decided to soak in the tub because I ached all over....then I get a phone call on the hotel phone which I ignored and about 5 minutes later a knock on my door. Which I said, "who is it?!?!" I told them I was not answering and that I was soaking in the tub. Geez. So about 10 minutes later I call the front desk to see what they wanted....they thought I was with some company called Kruchal???? It was strange and then she made mention of me being in room 318....I said, "No....I'm in room 302....you know the REASSIGNED room you put us in". Then she let me go. Maybe 12-20 mins later she knocks on my hotel door AGAIN!!!! I told her I was soaking in the tub still and that I WAS NAKED!!! She simply wanted my signature for the reassigned room. *sigh* so I got out of the tub and had her slip it under the door so I could sign it. This stay was not very pleasant and very aggravating. I did apologize to her for being grumpy through the door because I had been traveling for 12-13 hours and she apologized for the inconvenience. Maybe she's new??? One of the best features of this place was the tub...it was HUGE!! Great for soaking if I could enjoy it peacefully but it didn't have a plug. I had to stuff a wash rag in it to stop the water from draining. Hopefully the rest of the night goes smoothly. read more

An outstanding place to stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I stayed in the Mainstays section of the hotel which is a recent add on. The room was very nice and very clean. Plenty of hot water in the morning. They had a happy hour in the evening that they served snacks and beer! The breakfast in the morning is your typical hotel breakfast. After spending the 1st night at Comfort Inn Edinburg (Room 218), we woke up to go to breakfast and found 3 COCKROACHES in our room (1 near the bathroom, 1 on the tv stand, and 1 near the window). After spending several hours emptying our belongings to ensure that we would not be taking pests with us, we decided to check out. We were asked if we wanted to be put in a different room, but we did not want to stay at all. I was told that because I was checking out late, and early (before the original date of the 15th) that I would be charged for 2 nights. I was really not happy with that decision, but understood the inconvenience of trying to fill that room last minute. I VERIFIED with the owner, Happy, if under the circumstances I could not find a replacement hotel for the night, and needed an emergency place to stay, I could still access the room that I was being charged for. When I arrived back at the hotel at 1:30am, I was told that my room had been filled with someone else... Not really sure how that works, but I do know that that is a perfect example of terrible customer service! While I am dissatisfied with paying for two nights at the Comf-Roach Inn Edinburg, I am even more upset at the fact that they made double the profit on that particular room. I will never set place in that particular establishment again, and I will make sure that everyone I know knows that they have bugs. (As well as the MainStay Suites because they share the same building.) read more

I wanted to like this place, as the folks at the front desk were very nice, but ultimately it was kind of a nightmare. The front lobby smelled like a combo of old carpet and poop. My room clearly used to be a smoking room - despite signs everywhere stating that it was a non-smoking hotel/environment. I was in town on business and my host company had prepaid for the room. When I checked in, I brought my invoice, and confirmed that the room was paid. I was asked to submit a credit card for incidentals - which is standard. When I checked out, I received a receipt, stating that $0 was owed on the room. Two days later, my credit card was charged the full amount of the room. It took several phone calls and several days to get it sorted out (it's actually still not sorted, but I'm hopeful it will be). The hot tub heating element was broken, and it was quite cold (it hadn't quite warmed up in Edinburg yet). I was told for three days in a row that it would be fixed, but it never was. Johnny at the front desk told met hat he would offer an 'upgrade' on my room the next time I stayed there - but as a resident of Los Angeles, who will likely never be back in McAllen, that was no consolation. My key cards malfunctioned during my entire stay, too - I had to ask the front desk to re-code them every day, sometimes multiple times in the same day. I don't expect much from a Comfort Inn, but the numerous small issues added up to a notable annoyance, and ended up being quite time consuming to address. I would not stay there again, I'm sorry to say. Update: worst customer service experience I have ever had. It has taken 6 phone calls, and two days, and still no clear information about my refund for having been double charged for the room. The manager was super rude, continuously 'passed the buck' and claimed her colleagues, and/or the owner issued the refund, and then refused to provide any information or verification of the refund (which my bank does not have on my account). Room smells musty and after waking up to a drenched floor from the AC I figured it must be mold. Went down to breakfast at 6:10 am and waited for them to start putting out the food. Got a piece of bacon and a sausage patty, both where cold and some kind of egg like substance which also was bad. This Comfort Inn continually gives superior service. I've been a repeat customer for this reason. I've never seen Hotel Associates care for their guests as much as they do here. Beds are really comfortable. They even offer 2 soft and 2 firm pillows on the same bed for different preferences. Breakfast is better than most. Always serving eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles, and hot or cold cereals. They've just expanded this building adding several suites. Should be ready by July. Love this Comfort Inn. read more

Very nice rooms, large. They are big enough for another air mattress or play pen. Nice if you are use to the small hotel rooms. Exercise room, breakfast was clean and average. Nice pool outside with hot tub. The building is updated and clean. Hotels are video monitored which is nice. read more

I really really like it here it was great except when there is a lot of people in the pool the breakfast was pretty good they should put out food much faster tho but it is still good the bed aren't that comfortable but it works and across the street they have wingstop and Subway. Stayed in the Comfort Inn 8/10-12/2018 very nice. Did not know what to expect but was glad I booked here. I was here for a conference so I didn't spend a lot of time in the room. Checked in @5pm on 8/10/18 had a meeting @6p came back at around 9p and used the business center for a couple hours. Went to sleep that was day 1. Bed was very comfortable. Pillows were soft but not to the point my head sunk all the way through. Tub was huge but the tub stopper was a bit weird to me. It turned on an axis. So the drain was still covered some what. I put a picture for visual. Customer service was great. Ms.Cassy(Cassie not sure how she spelled it) was super nice answered any questions I had. Day 2 I was out at 7:30a for meetings and games didn't get back til 9p. Came back room was cleaned and bed made. Morning breakfast had good options banana nut batter for waffles and regular batter, scrambled and fried eggs, sausage links, cereal, oatmeal, fruit, bagels and toast, orange and apple juice, and almond, 2%, and whole milk. My only negatives, and this is nit picking, but I could have used a channel guide for the tv, and another computer for the business center. Two would be good. This Comfort Inn was nasty, first room smelled like stale cigar smoke and the rug in the room was badly stained. Was given another room which was a little better didn't smell as bad but the carpet was also stained. When I went to the desk to tell them I'd take the room the general manager Ana was there and I said the room was ok but the carpet needed cleaned. She said she was cancelling my reservation because I was making comments about the rooms I couldn't believe it. I guess the truth does hurt. Very bad manager the corporation should do something with her. She would not give me something in writing saying my prepaid room bill would be refunded. read more

This hotel is very nice. The staff at all levels are very attentive. The room are clean. No musty smells. Breakfast is an added plus and the attendant is constantly checking and cleaning the area for anything that needs attention. Kudos to Front Desk Manager Ana Rodriguez who goes to the extreme to assist us with every issue we have. She's very We casually mentioned that the toilet wobbled a bit and should maybe be tightened. Next thing we knew we had a maintenance person fixing it. We will definitely stay at this location in the future. read more
