I enjoyed staying here overnight! The bed was comfortable and clean! The room has coffee and microwave. One bottle of water is provided. Only suggestion is to provide two bottles of water.

    No curtains!

Hello Management of Embassy Suites, Please note that I was…read morereferred here by Miss Ivania (Front Desk Associate)! I previously would go to Aloft by Marriott; but because of Ivania's professionalism & recommendations when I saw her at the other Property - Ivanis is the reason why I changed Hotels while here on business in McAllen, TX. Ivania is truly a delight fresh breath of air as a welcome site when checking in at the Hotel. She is very resourceful on what the Embassy Suites can offer & that is greatly appreciated‼ And I know a good Associate when I encounter one! Thanks for bringing Ivania to your Team. I had an extremely disappointing experience at Embassy Suites by Hilton McAllen Convention Center,…read moreand I would strongly advise others to avoid this location. Upon check-in, it was immediately clear that the room had not been properly cleaned. The bathroom was in poor condition, and to make matters worse, the shower drain was clogged, making it unpleasant and inconvenient to use. Later during our stay, after attending the evening reception, my family and I attempted to enjoy the pool and hot tub--one of the main amenities advertised. Unfortunately, both the pool and hot tub had vomit in them, making them completely unusable. This was not only disgusting but unacceptable for a hotel charging over $200 per night. What made the situation even worse was the complete lack of customer service and follow-up. I attempted multiple times to reach management, leaving my name and number with the front desk, but received no response for over two weeks. When I finally spoke with the manager, Edward Hernandez, the situation was handled very poorly. He stated that nothing could be done unless I had photo evidence of the vomit in the pool--an unreasonable expectation--and offered no compensation, refund, or even loyalty points. For the price paid, this experience was completely unacceptable. The hotel is poorly maintained, and the customer service is even worse. I have stayed at many Embassy Suites locations across the U.S., and this was by far the worst experience I've ever had. DO NOT STAY HERE. AVOID THIS DIRTY, POORLY KEPT HOTEL AT ALL COSTS.

Breakfast was fabulous, a employee served us the main parts. Biscuits and gravy, my favorite. Breakfast area very nic3, comfy. Extra friendly. Super clean Bar area was nice, very comfy. We had old-fashioned, not the best but good. A/C was great. CON'S Bed was extra firm, hard. Shower, had 2 hand-held heads problems with that was to switch the showering head to the lower head, the switch was on top showing head. I am 5'8", I stood on the side of the bathroom tub to reach the head to switch it. Aunt got a cup to take a shower, like bathing a child. See pictures.

The room was nice. Spacious and clean. The bathroom was clean. They have shampoo and bar soap available. The bathroom did disappoint in that I felt like even a truck stop would have a lid for the toilet. It was an inconvenience. The property is updated. Breakfast was good. Lots of got options. They even had tortillas. Someone serves you. It's like a buffet line. Our biggest issue was the closet next to our room. It made noise and off throughout the night keeping us up. We called the front desk and were told they couldn't do anything. I will admit that after a surgery, the room was comped. I would have rather had the sleep, but I do appreciate it. Parking is plentiful. The pool looked nice. I didn't use it.

I can go on and on but here we go. 1. When we first got…read morethere we had a front desk employee his name was William. (We got there Friday afternoon) His customer service wasn't the best but anyway moving on to the room we get to the room and turn on the AC (yes I know you need to give it time for the room to get cold) but after a couple of minutes of turning it on there was a lot of HEAT coming from the actual ac unit and smelled like something was burning! Me having 3 kids did not want them to smell that burning smell so i called William at the front desk and he told me he was going to switch me rooms. I turned off the ac and went downstairs. William then switched me to another room Right Next Door to the room that smelt like burn. 2. The new room was very poorly kept. The chair was broken. The ac was broken. There were black marks on the walls. After constantly fiddling with the ac it worked but at this point my kids were tired and ready to take a nap. So we stayed there. 3. Saturday; BOTH elevators were broken!!! This was just the icing on the cake for me. The elevator on the left was broken when we got there but the one on the right broke apparently Saturday and everytime we had to go to our room we had to go to the third floor with 3 kids. One is an infant so of course we had to go up the stairs carrying her! Keep in mind it's sooo hot outside and there NO AC IN THE STAIRWELL!!! 4. Finally, Sunday I was ready to leave this hotel! When checking out I showed all pictures to Marcelino (new front desk) (his attitude was much more empathetic and sweet) I always take pictures of things that were broken/wrong with the room the day I go to it. And he had no words for why the room was so poorly kept. Yes bed was comfy, location was the only good thing about this hotel but tbh I rather drive all over town to get to the mall or anything than to stay here again. The amount I paid is ridiculous due to the conditions of this whole hotel! Never have I been to a la Quinta with these poor conditions .

But part of the reason we chose this one was because they allow our feathered family member. The staff is pleasant and helpful. Water pressure and the temperature of the hot water was not very good. I could not tell if the hotel is new or being remodeled outside, but I think it is older with weak water pressure. Our room came attended by a gecko that hid in the air conditioning unit but the gecko did not bother us, nor did we bother it. The room was extremely clean, and as I said before the staff has outstanding customer service skills. We would probably stay here again just based on how welcome we felt.

The architecture and style make you feel like you're on Mexican resort. The rooms are cozy, yes they are older but the bed was comfy, you have a fridge, coffee maker and a microwave in your room. And to my surprise, the TV is smart capable so you can watch Netflix and other apps. The gym is small, basically the size of my room. There's 3-4 treads, a scale, and free weights. There are no vending machines on the floors even though there are placards on the halls directing you to one. If you want a snack or soft drink there's a snack shop in the lobby. There's also a restaurant on site that's only open for breakfast and dinner. My only real issue with the hotel is that they have a serious problem with their keycards becoming deactivated. I had to go back to the front desk twice throughout my stay because my key stopped working. It's a known issue, the staff themselves had trouble reprogramming my key and said it's a very old system and the keys are sensitive. Aside from that, it's a solid choice for the area.

Time to pump the brakess on that one after staying at one of Mission's finest- The Hampton Inn by Hilton. Located off of Expressway 83 and slightly hidden behind a SuperTarget, this Hampton Inn oozes sensuality from the moment you enter the door. Whether its the exterior floral arrangements, or the interior furnishings within the dining area + front desk, this Hampton Inn gives you an almost-instant relaxing sensation. The room? I may be one of the lucky ones. I felt that I had one of the best rooms (if not the best) in the house with a well-designed suite. The desk bureau area stationed within the middle of the room served a dual purpose by also housing the flat screen television on a swivel that faced the bed. With a top floor, you can see a lot of the City of Mission, as well as nearby McAllen. Breakfast was decent. Don't have tremendously high expectations. This isn't an Embassy Suites-type of breakfast! Breakfast here is fairly basic with your eggs, waffles, toast, sausages, juices, etc. The coffee is actually fairly good (try the Robust flavor if you want stronger). Yet if you are a coffee snob like I am, walk your butt on over to the Starbucks within the Super Target next door. A regular Starbucks is also about a mile away as well. The front desk staff was absolutely wonderful, relaxed, and highly knowledgeable of where to go in town. Greatly appreciated the insight on the current construction along areas of Expressway 83 that caused traffic (yes, there is traffic in the Rio Grand Valley). Parking is reasonable around the building, and the property was built with walls that made my room super quiet. The Hampton Inn of Mission, TX. Why can't all hotels be like you?
