Amenities wise, we had meeting here and the catering was "fine". The staff was super nice. Overall, if you have to go to Muscatine, you should probably stay here.

I suppose those more luxurious rooms were more expensive than mine, but I loved my room. They all have closets and a tv. The bed and breakfast is clean and charming. It is a large house and has a very large living room, computer room, kitchen, dining room, a screened porch, and family room. If my count is correct, I believe they have five bedrooms, some of which are large an have multiple beds and a couple have a single bed. The b&b is filled with beautiful decor. The owners, Linda and Karl Reichert, are lovely people who welcomed my whole party with warmth and delicious food. They make amazing breakfasts. The day before, you are given a menu for a three course breakfast. You choose what you'd like for each course. The first course is a fresh fruit bowl, the second is a bread course, such as homemade scones or muffins, and the third is an entree, such as pancakes or egg concoctions. All of their food was homemade from scratch. The scones were the best I've ever had in my life. Linda told me she shares recipes and gave me her scone recipe. The yard is fantastic. They have a gazebo, apple and walnut trees, a flower garden, a vegetable garden, and fruit plants. The fresh fruit you eat in the morning and some ingredients for other dishes come from their own personal garden. There is plenty of room for children to play and pets to run. For entertainment, there are tvs in every room and in the family room, there is a dart board, they have board games, and Muscatine is only a ten minute drive. This bed and breakfast is everything a b&b should be. The home is wonderful, the yard is gorgeous, the food is delicious and the people are fantastic. I would recommend strawberry farms to anyone and everyone.

I felt SO LUCKY to have found this place. The hosts were like family and sat me down to have some sherbet as soon as I arrived. (I likely looked a bit heat damaged!) My room was upstairs in the house was large with a bath. The breakfast was very tasty. I particularly liked that all the guests sat at the same table. Traveling alone makes this feature a real delight.

We weren't sure when we'd get there, so I was pretty psyched that we could do a digital key and just bypass the desk! And wow, picking my own room! Yay for technology! So almost 8 hours after I do my digital check in, I see the system has checked me into a room I didn't choose (boo) but it was close so, OK, I guess that'll work. Still don't have the digital key. Oh boy, no big deal, I have to talk to the FDA. That's ok though, I like people well enough. I get to the desk, he's quite apologetic, gets us all checked in. He is, in fact, pretty amazing and GREAT at his job! We get in our room and it is freezing in there. Thermostat on cool, set at 65. In Iowa. In early March. it took nearly 2 hours to get it up to a manageable 68. Of course, it's breezy bitter cold out, we immediately try out the bathroom facilities. The commode won't flush, and is constantly running. I'm pretty handy, let's see if it's an easy fix, yeah? It won't seal so the tank will fill up. That means we can't flush it. It is now nearly 11pm. We are tired, in our PJ's, have 0 desire to pack back up and move to a different room, and decide to just say screw it and go to bed. We close the bathroom door (to block the sound of the toilet running) and do exactly that. As I am checking us out in the morning, I do mention to the morning FDA the problem with the toilet, I am given this response "Thank you for letting us know, we'll get a maintenance ticket for that right away." Do you see anything missing from that statement? There was not one ounce of empathy or even the slightest apology. A simple "I'm sorry to hear that" would have gone SO FAR in this situation. Maybe that makes me a Karen. I hope not. Now, the toilet running might not sound like a big deal. In the grand scheme of things it's not, but let's examine why it is such a big deal in a hotel setting. These rooms are cleaned after every single stay. How was this able to be cleaned if it was not able to be flushed? If it was not able to be flushed, why wasn't it put out of order immediately by housekeeping? How was it sanitized after the last guest? Food for thought. The hotel itself? A-MAZ-ING! Great Breakfast! Rooms are nice (if a bit dated.) Very well kept, Very quiet. I will continue to use the brand, I just wish I'd gotten just the smallest apology and validation.

If you arrive after regular business hours a lot of the time the front door will be locked, and you have to knock to find the front desk employee to let you in. The rooms are fine, nothing great. TVs are old tube TVs but they do have HBO and about 50 channels for you to view. Most rooms(not sure if all) do have refrigerators and microwaves, so that is a bonus. After popping my head down on the bed, I got an overwhelming bleach scent from the sheets. All of the linens were clean, but rough and smelled terribly of bleach. I do obviously want my sheets cleaned, but it was pretty bad. Overall, if you are in Muscatine this might be your best bet, and you can get down to about $60 if you shop around.

We get there around 7 to 8pm after traveling all day & my wife's back was sore & hurting and she was wanting to use the jacuzzi in our room. The front desk clerk checked us in with our credit card. So we go down two long hallways to get to our room & it turns out to be not our room with no jacuzzi or fireplace. So we call the front desk & tell them that they gave us the wrong room & the same front desk clerk that had just checked us in 5 minutes earlier, she says the jacuzzi in the Honeymoon Suite that we was suppose to have was broken. Now why didn't the front desk clerk tell us that before we checked in ??? My wife was getting pi$$ed off that the hotel didn't call or send us an email to tell us about our jacuzzi room not working. So luckily enough they did cancel our reservation & so that night we went to a different hotel in town that had a jacuzzi room. I'd stay at some other hotel than the AmericInn in Muscatine Iowa.

The breakfast was pretty lacking, the only thing left at 9am were bread and biscuits and no butter. But the waffle maker was good to go. And the floor in the kitchen area was exceptionally sticky. I'm not expecting this to be the Ritz. But it was loud and a little run down.

I told her I had no car, no gloves, a light jacket and wind chill was near zero and it was 5 hours before I could use the room I already paid for (before she would let me into one of the many empty rooms she had); 5 hours would give me frostbite. She was not moved and I had to leave the hotel for 5 hours in the cold. I don't want to go back but I can't change reservations because it's non-refundable. Super 8 means it will be super if 8 of my fingers remain after the frostbite amputations. Heartless cold give as little as possible for the money joke. A group or family has taken over all hotels in this area and being loathed as a customer is now an integral part of staying in a hotel. DO NOT STAY HERE IF BEING LIKED MATTERS TO YOU.

What bothers me the most is upon entering a room. You are immediately overcome by a air freshener chemical that makes your eyes water. The beds are broke down to the point of no return. But, what really bothers me is when the management turns off your access to the WiFi. This has happened on every visit here. Don't ask to have them fix it, they won't. Under this management, I give this place a thumbs down and a rating of one. It's not even worth the $40 they charge.
