Nice new rooms 2016
Chris G.

Really nice and newer (as of fall 2016). I rarely stay at Hilton Garden (typically Hampton) but it has a different feel than a Hampton (maybe more upscale)? Staff was exceptionally friendly and the facility is immaculate. Good option if you are in the area.

Lovely and affordable hotel in a nice, easy-to-get-to location. It's still a pretty clearly new hotel, so I'll be curious to see how time starts to effect it over time. The rooms are nice, the amenities are nice, and I enjoyed my stay. I'd stay again. THINGS TO KNOW: -If you love coffee, you're going to love this hotel. There is a Starbucks (with drive-thru) located just as close as the parking lot. There's a Jimmy John's a bit of a further walk, and there's a gas station that's almost as close as the Starbucks. -The hotel is right off of the highway. Very easy to get to. -The hotel also has a business office (with a computer) and an ATM. -No free breakfast, but they offer a breakfast at the restaurant for $11 a person in the morning. -The hotel's pool and hottub are both salt water. -Pool is open 8AM to 10PM. Fitness center is 24/7. -Hotel has do-your-own laundry washer and dryer. Didn't check the prices for it, but the room said it's available 24/7. PROS: -Lots of parking space. There seem to be spots all around the building. Most of them are really close to the building too. Not much walking to be done. -Gym is fantastic. All new equipment and everything is super functional with nice space between all of the equipment. Ellipticals, reclined bike, treadmills, weight bench, dumbbells, and weighted medicine balls. There weren't any towels or ways to clean off the machines when I was done, but they do have a water cooler. -Rooms were very clean. Absolutely no complaints about the cleanliness of the room. Everything looks very clean - sparkingly so. -All rooms feel pretty modern too. The lamps have outlets built right into them, Keurigs for coffee, and nice, flat-screen TVs. The blankets and room design looks very modern and fresh as well. -Rooms come standard with microwave, fridge, and Keurig. Bathroom also had a gorgeous, all-glass shower with a decently comfortable bathroom size too. -Pretty good pricing. Maybe it was just Halloween weekend, but less than $100 for a Friday night is impressive. CONS: -If you're sensitive to noise, make sure you request a room without a connecting room. We were able to hear the conversations of our connecting room neighbors all throughout the night. -Gym and pool door locks seemed a bit fussy. While I was working out, people kept trying to get into the gym but their room keys weren't working on the door. Mine worked, but I had to let in quite a few people. -Door keys are a bit odd. Instead of swiping or scanning, they use a near-ness activation that will unlock the door if the key is near the lock. Took a couple tries most of the time to get the door to open. I can't imagine how much of a headaches these door locks are going to turn into as the hotel gets older.

Parking lot is very well lit and right near the entrance to the hotel. The room is very clean, mid century modern in feel, and spacious too, and the bed is very comfy. Definitely check it out if you're in the area! Prices are very reasonable as well.

Lighting is great, room temperature controls work quickly, and you can't hear anything in the hallway (but if you have a bunch of 2-to 6-year-olds in the room above you, you'll know). Wireless internet connectivity is very quick for being free, so no need to pay for an upgrade. I went for a morning walk around the property before dawn (staying on sidewalks) and everything was safe (mostly well lit). The gym is large, equipment new and clean, towels are provided, and water dispenser works. No one was using the pool but it's there! Finally, I ordered food from the Bistro restaurant in the lobby. It's usually a bad choice, but not here. They put a lot of effort into the drinks AND food. I got the espresso martini (doesn't need the simple syrup, IMHO) and it was the best I've had in a while (people keep adding weird things to these drinks elsewhere or it ends up being coffee milk-- iykyk). The Turkey Avocado BLT (sans bacon for me) and side arugula salad (fresh baby arugula, cucumbers and tomatoes!!) was large and a great value for 12.50. They don't joke about the Texas toast and they aren't skimping with the avocado. The salad was large enough that I got it "to go" and made it my lunch the next day. The grilled chicken sandwich was also delicious and had fresh ingredients. Honestly, I don't have criticism to provide. Best business trip hotel I've stayed in while traveling in the Midwest.

It's how they respond to guests who've been bitten that defines them. In this instance, Hilton failed me. My photo shows some of the over 75 bites I got during my last stay. There's really no place I could have gotten them but here. I drove from Chicago, so didn't pick them up flying. When I followed up with the hotel, they assured me there were no bugs in my room, but they had it treated anyway. (Why treat a room that's not infested?) I asked for a copy of the exterminator's report and never received it. Next I contacted Hilton Corporate, and they emailed me that Hilton takes no responsibility for bed bugs in their hotels... it's up to each hotel to settle problems. So I'm out a set of luggage and a week of intense itching, a doctor's visit and meds... plus dry cleaning clothes that can't be washed in hot water. I've stayed in this hotel four times while visiting family, and it's definitely gone downhill. Too bad, because they have a great workout area, the rooms are spacious and the bed is comfortable... but my room was never cleaned during this stay, not even fresh towels. And the free breakfast featured dried out egg sandwiches, stale muffins and no fruit. So disappointed in Hilton.

A person would think they would have more available on the property itself. The idea is to keep people at the casino and playing. We go off property for lunch also. I don't know maybe a person needs to bring food along like packing for a picknick? ‍We bought two cups of black coffee at $3.50 each and the coffee was barely warm. Many of themed slots they had for years that we did like to play are gone. We have fewer for choices, that's for sure. At least they have kept some of the older slots which is a plus. We had some problems with our room. Our mattress at home is a newer firm mattress. The mattress here appeared to be a newer one and it wasn't firm....it was outright HARD. Just about like laying on a piece of plywood, well almost. My wife could only sleep on it about 3-4 hours and then slept on the couch. That wasn't much more comfortable. Maybe they got some deal on them when they replaced a number of them at once or something? If that's what happened we don't think it was a very good deal. And this is from people such as us that prefer a firm mattress so, IDK. Some problem with HVAC. If you get the temp about correct for the front room the bedroom is very cold. Confusing thermostat, no selection if it's set for heat or A/C. Just arrows up and down for temp. I've never seen a thermostat like that anywhere that I've ever stayed before, not ever. We tried to call down and get a blanket from housekeeping or the front desk but when you press the buttons on the phone for housekeeping or front desk they are "busied out". They just go to a busy signal and that's it. Bad enough if just staying for one night, but more than one night, not good. Seemed like to us that some taking are of the customer is in need.
