This is an older but well-maintained hotel. I used to stay here frequently then switched off to try the other larger, fancier hotels up the road but I came back to Comfort Inn because I've generally been happier here than at the other places. The staff makes the difference -- Kelsey welcomed me when I checked in and was very friendly and helpful in printing out and applying my tax exemption. Overnight, somehow I managed to lose my room key from the time I went to sleep and woke up and Debbie was friendly and helpful in making me a new one at 4:30 AM. Finally, although I was scheduled for three nights, work concluded early and Theresa was super helpful with checking me out, getting me an accurate receipt quickly, and, unbelievably, offering to mail a post-card for me. I could not have experienced nicer, more gracious people than Kelsey, Debbie, and Theresa. Thank you! My room was very clean. It's an older hotel and the bathroom is kind of small but the toilet is newer and air assisted and flushes well and quietly; there is plenty of hot water, and the shower is powerful and refreshing even on the top floor. The bed, surprisingly, felt old -- meaning it wasn't memory foam, but it was comfortable and I slept well. The PTAC in the wall was quiet and effective in maintaining the temperature in the room. And the TV offered a good, sharp picture. I would prefer if Comfort Inn offered TCM because we don't have television at home and I like old movies but that's a preference. The dining room is delightful as evidenced by the sturdy, plentiful, and comfortable seating options. I also loved the flowers on each of the tables. This isn't something I see at many lower-rate hotels and sets this hotel apart from most others I've visited. This isn't just a place to scarf down breakfast but it's a classy, comfortable, spacious area to relax in. I like to eat my waffle and sip coffee while chatting with other guests or watching vehicles enter or leave the nearby Turnpike. I haven't been to Somerset in years but if I get sent back again for work, this is where I will stay moving forward. read more

BLUF: pretty good if it's just for one night and you're passing through. Amenities weren't so great I've actually stayed here a number of times in the last few years. Keeping in mind that this is a budget Hotel, I don't expect the world from it. In general it has always been clean and well kept. the staff has always been friendly. However I get the impression of this definitely understaffed a key times. One of the most obvious being breakfast. I saw one person run between the front desk and the buffet trying to get it ready trying to handle check-ins checkouts and the breakfast at the same time. The breakfast itself continues to be pretty minimalist. It can get pretty crowded trying to move along the line there and there's one toaster and one waffle maker for everyone. The selection is pretty minimal for example the only hot items being some powdered scrambled eggs and some sausage links. And those were actually not very warm me kind of had to heat them in the microwave too. Like I said you don't expect a huge amount for a budget hotel, but one thing that really got me this time was the paper quality. I'm talking the tissue paper and toilet paper in the rooms. Are they going to have the very best on the market? No. I don't think anyone thinks it's going to happen. But what they had available was the closest thing to sandpaper I've encountered in a hotel since way back when they used to put that nasty brown paper public restrooms. I mean really if you come here bring your own toilet paper and facial tissues. Also the cups in the room are thin plastic cups wrapped in plastic. This is typical for a budget hotel and that doesn't really bother me, but in my room two of them had clearly been crushed at some point and kind of popped back open so that they had cracks along the sides and rim. They were still wrapped in the plastic so it wasn't exactly a sanitary concern it's just kind of shows a lack of attention to detail. As I noted I've been here a number of times and for the price point and where it is It's not bad. It's just that it keeps adding on little things that detract from its rating each time. Do not go to cruisers as bartender is lazy. Its the newer generation. They think they are special. You want tips and people to come but u cant even talk ot socialize with customers. Your too worried about your bf and being on the phone, playing your own music. The room was clean and I had a handicap room and it had a roll in shower with a seat. Bed was super comfortable and the pillows were firm or soft I got to choose. The only and I mean only thing I would have liked was more outlets to plug all my electronics in. Next time I am going to travel with a power strip. No water for shower in morning. Then brown sediment and suds in water when it came back on. Ran for a half hour to clear brown sediment and suds. Took a light brown water shower after waiting 3.5 hours. Delayed my visit to my nephew, alone Pittsburgh hospital ICU on a vent. Only got to spend 3 hours with him after traveling 5 hours and $500 for a one day trip because had to return home (5 more hours) that night. Explained situation and was told I would receive credit, only to find out they credited a whopping 25% ($33). Upon calling, manager was uncaring saying it wasn't their fault and no further credit would be issued and to feel free to leave a negative review, my only resort. Thoroughly disheartened and disgusted. I will never stay at a Comfort Inn again. And this is my first negative hotel review in my 55 years, so that says something. Broken hearted that you ruined my trip and the invaluable time I can't get back with my nephew. read more

Booked a king bed room and it was lovely. Located in the top floor, the roof slanted up giving a nice open, airy feel to the room. Plenty of floor space for yoga too. Plenty of counter space for toiletries, towels are stored under the counter lending a less cluttered appearance. Towels are nice weight and the bed reminds of those found in another pricier hotel chain. Breakfast is limited, however they have a nice offering of muffins, bagel breakfast sandwiches (those went fast) coffee, tea, fruit , breakfast bars and yogurt. Everything was clean and tidy. Great people, number one. Clean, decent rooms. Cable service....lame at best. Quite possible the providers fault and not the hotels fault. BUT....nearly every channel on their tv CONSTY broke up digitally. Was this the fault of covid19? I doubt it. Breakfast was changed from full service to bare minimum. Covid? Yes. All staff had to wear masks.... again, covid? Yes. Stupid? Absolutely. The rooms and surrounding areas were kept quite clean but again....the ridiculousness of this so called pandemic is retarded. I hope that when this crap is all over that this hotel recovers with it. Overall they rank 100....besides the effect of this governmental bullshit. Just my opinion. I do regularly travel the lower 48 continental Inited States and have not been sick once...except to see the idiots wearing masks while driving alone in an empty car. read more

All these reviews seem to be mixed up. Not much comfort coming from here, only plus I'd dig out is the employees being friendly my first day. Second day was something short of a nightmare. Not only is the pool outside with no elevator for luggage, but the breakfast was BARE when I walked down 30 minutes before close. No eggs, coffee, syrup, utensils, etc. About 40 people waiting for replenishments with no response. When asking the front desk, I was given an out of this world look with a beyond attitude response. Trash was full and they only have one lady working the entire breakfast bar. Last but probably not the worst, they had CLEANING spray right beside the waffle machine. Children and even adults were using this, thinking it was non stick spray, not reading the fine print. It was right beside the syrup, and I overheard the worker tell someone else it was supposed to be non stick spray. Two stars is generous in my opinion! read more

Avoid at all cost. Ended up picking up scabies (google at your own risk, especially if you are squeamish about bugs) after spending a night here. Needed to see a dermatologist to diagnose and treat the breakout and itchiness. Alerted management to the problem and wasn't offered any sort of refund or even an apology for that matter, only that they hoped we would feel better and would pass the info on to their general manager. When I requested a refund they required me to obtain a note from my dermatologist regarding the diagnosis and cause. The entire situation is absolutely ridiculous and inexcusable! read more

Passed through Somerset on 12/28/10 riding back from VA to Ohio for the holiday.... Was very tired after driving 8 hours in a snow storm and after having dealt with dropping children off at the airport.... I pulled up, wanted a very quick room..... It was late and I was falling asleep at the counter....the receptionist offered me a room. I was not pleased with the price but was in no mood to argue. took the room, was given the keys and invited down for continental breakfeast. I think I am realzing the Comfort Inns do not have the best continental breakfeasts....but life will go on. In short it was a king size bed for the 2 of us, warm room, and a place to shower for 110 for the night. Yea sleep called me before my wallet did :( read more

We called the hotel DIRECTLY take a reservation. Before making the reservation we specifically asked if they take pets as we were traveling with our cat. We were told yes so we made the reservation. When we arrived the front desk employee told us they do not accept pets and that they would need to cancel our reservation. The front desk person was rude when trying to explain to her that we called directly to the hotel not a reservation line. Her response was she was certain we did not talk to anyone at that hotel because no one working there would have told us that pets were accepted. We had the number of the hotel which directly matched the number of the hotel. So we had to find another hotel in the area. Which luckily we did. So frustrating!! read more

This comfort inn is probably the best dog-friendly hotel in the area. It is clean, right off the highway, and has a very good pet policy. The prices are reasonable, and there are ample areas around to walk your dog. there are also plenty of places to eat in Somerset, including our new favorite, Rey-Azteca. Keep in mind, because they are the best pet-friendly hotel around, there are lots of dogs here. If you don't like dogs, or get really annoyed if there are some dogs barking in the hotel, this is definitely not the place for you. However, if you have a dog that you are traveling with, this is the place to stay. read more

Found bugs in the room. Roaches in bathroom and one found its way into our luggage illlll.. There were weird bugs on our bed we told the manager she was made aware and they called pest control. I do not believe that it was the hotels fault they might of accommodated someone who brought that in. All and all staff was great and breakfast was good. read more

We have stayed here a few times on our way to Ohio and are very happy we did! The original reason we chose Comfort Inn is they are pet friendly and we were traveling with our dog. The room was spacious and super clean and very comfortable bed along with several pillows both soft and firm for your choosing. The bathroom was a decent size and had great water preasure in the shower and raised toilets. The staff were great and the breakfast was great , and a nice selection of foods to choose from , both hot and cold. Great quality and excellent price! I highly recommend The Comfort Inn! read more

Front desk staff helpful and we used the coupon from PA welcome center. Room was comfortable though bathroom was small. Fitness center was a bit of a joke-old machines that were as loud as jet engines and only 4 of them (and only 3 worked)! No weight and the room was hot with no ventilation-clearly you don't stay here to work out! Breakfast was average. Walls are thin-bring ear plugs but by midnite it was very quiet. I'm really surprised to read all of the very positive reviews of this place. We recently stayed for a night and were not very impressed. While the staff was very pleasant and the hotel itself seems to have had some updates done in the past few years, the whole place smells pretty bad. While the Comfort Inn currently seems to be a non-smoking hotel, it smells like it was a smoker's paradise at some point in the past and I don't know that the renovations removed enough to remedy that fact (for instance the AC in the rooms was very, very old). We were on the third floor and some friends staying on the first floor described a musty smell. I think the hotel was actually very clean but the stale smell combined with a lot of dark furniture and brown/tan carpeting and upholstery made everything feel a little dated and dirty. I also visited the lounge for a drink later in the evening and while the bartender was friendly and efficient, they're still using one of those manual carbon copy credit card machines that puts your whole credit card number on the receipt. Didn't love that as it doesn't seem very secure. The elevator also stopped working at some point during our stay. Not a big deal to us as I'd rather take the stairs, but it might matter to some guests with a lot of luggage to haul. On the plus side, the bathroom in our room seemed very clean and that bed was really, really comfortable. Pretty much one of the most comfortable hotel beds I've slept in. And despite the fact that the AC system was old (it had push buttons like settings on an old blender) that thing was shockingly quiet and it really cooled the room down despite it being very warm and humid in there when we arrived. If you're not sensitive to off smells, it's not a bad place, but it wasn't a hotel to which we'd likely return. read more

We stopped in to overnight during travel from PA to CHI at about 8:15 PM - check in and reservation was swift, and included a 10% discount for a lovely restaurant across the street which offered a few #veganoptions as a plus. The bedding was soft, room was very clean, had everything on offer you need regarding toiletries, was well laid out and very close to our car park which was nice as we also brought a dog. read more

Stayed last night on a cross country trip to Cape Cod. Pulled in late but the night attendant was helpful and very nice. Hotel seemed a little loud, but very reasonably priced, clean (wife checks for bed bugs), and had plenty of room for a family of 5. I honestly wouldn't even give this place one star! We got back to our hotel room around 12:30 am people were sitting in chairs being loud, rude and drunk in front of our room! As we got into the room and about to go to bed them people outside started to get louder and more people arriving. I called to the front desk and told them they said they will check it out no one ever came! By 3:30 am it was a full on party in the hall knocking on our door screaming throwing stuff. As we went to check out in the morning we explained to the woman the situation. They were fully aware of the party that went on notes were left phone Calles were made to the front desk that night but yet nothing was done! The women was so rude to us wouldn't do anything for us asked us what she was supposed to do. She say what was I supposed to do they were a wedding party! When I complained to the front desk manager about the dirt that was left in the room, she became defensive, argumentative and furious that I would tell her about the mess left in our room, telling me how great her staff is and that they would never do that. When I showed her the mess that the housekeeper left uncleaned, she told me that she would issue a partial refund. Never received the refund. So that makes her a liar, too. The parking lot is on two levels, both of which are small and very difficult to navigate if you have anything bigger than a car. The hotel is stretched out with one elevator in the middle, so if you have luggage and parked at the far end from where the rear entrance or your room is located, you will have a long walk without ramps in the curbing. If you are in a wheelchair, you will need help getting up the steps. If you are driving a semi, you will required to back into the gravel parking lot down the street. We have stayed at many Comfort Inns and since Somerset has so many hotels, I thought that Comfort Inn would be a safe, wise choice. Not this time. There are many, many hotel choices in Somerset. Pick somewhere else to spend your money. read more

Basic room, no frills. Clean, but nothing special. Giving it 2 stars for the staff, basically. Friendly upon entry, but that's expected. Recommended the Pine Grill as the best place in town...to every guest we passed in earshot. We ate there but it too, average at best and for much the same reason. Took some road weary kids to the hotel pool. It's clear, which is surprising, but no towels. Went to ask the bar (closest place) about how to get more towels down there and her solution was to go to the front desk. I asked if perhaps the phone might accomplish that same thing and was informed they probably couldn't bring more down now. Idiot. She got it fixed, apparently, but 20 minutes later, still no towels. This after the front desk girl made sure to add not to take the room twirls to the pool. Bottom line, no frills at a sort of frills price, and don't go to the Pine Grill unless you just gotta have family restaurant with I attentive service. read more

We spent one night at the Comfort Inn in Somerset. Warmly greeted by front desk clerks. Room clean, quiet and very comfortable. We were on the first floor facing the front entrance, but were not bothered by any noise or traffic at night. We used the Hotels.com travel coupon in the book we got at the PA rest stops and saved $10 at check-in off the best rate. When we came back to the hotel after dinner there was a small parking issue for a truck driver. The front desk clerks immediately took care of it. Nice to see that the staff at this Comfort Inn believe in and practice 'Customer Service with a Smile'. Breakfast was the usual for Comfort Inns, but Chris in the dining room kept all the food and drinks replenished and the serving area tidy. When she had time she greeted the guests and also offered travel suggestions. We had a very pleasant visit with her. We can recommend staying here. read more
