They were so accommodating and generous with their hospitality that we felt like we were friends! Complimentary tea, coffee, beer, and wine, homemade cookies (the bourbon cookies, wow!), and treats were just awesome! The warmth of the fireplaces and the Christmas decor just added to the ambiance of the inn along with the general decor as well. The inn itself has a long history as does the area around it (I had no idea that there were so many fort-lets from the French and Indian War and ties w/a younger George Washington there) that there's a lot to see and read up on. The owners have a lot of pride and passion for the inn and it shows in all the pictures they have of the restoration of the structure and the publications of the area and the property it's on and in the conversations we had! Truly a good place for those interested in talking/seeing history! BTW, the breakfast here is no joke with large portions and second helpings offered! They will accommodate any diet or dietary restrictions (I'm vegetarian, my wife isn't) and they made us the best meal we've ever had at a bnb or hotel!

The food was great too. I ordered the Hawaiian pulled pork sandwich, which had pulled pork, spicy pineapple coleslaw, chipotle aioli, and goat cheese. The goat cheese especially made the sandwich for me, and I would have happily taken even more of the slaw and sauce. My husband had the smashburger and said it was absolutely worth the $18 price tag. And the fries! Perfectly crispy, and the balsamic ketchup was ridiculously addictive. We finished with the cinnamon-sugar fried ice cream cannolis, and they disappeared in about five minutes. Crunchy cinnamon-sugar shell, cold ice cream, chocolate, whipped cream, and strawberries--and even the strawberries were delicious, not just decoration. We decided to eat downstairs in the bar area. It had ha nice cozy low key atmosphere. Which was nice. We also felt like we were well taken care of there. Below the Union Hotel is a tavern called Mona's which is connected and an addition to The Union Hotel restaurant/12 room hotel. There's parking along the Main Street, as well as lots of spots in the back of the building. You can enter from the main entrance of the hotel and take the elevator down or you can head down the steps in the back to enter. Doesn't matter which way, just get here. We were absolutely blown away by the quality, portions, flavor profiles, and service in this little gem. We sat at the bar and were greeted immediately by a super friendly bartender named Matt. He was very attentive, friendly and welcoming. He was always checking up on us and making sure that we were always good. Service was fabulous. There's a timeline of the history of this historic building on the back of the menu. We ordered two drinks. One was an apple cider margarita and the other was a strawberry gin fizz concoction that was amazing. Both of these drinks were delicious. If we weren't driving and staying in the actual hotel above this tavern, we would have tried several other ones on the menu. Lots of creative choices that looked to be tasty based on the mix of ingredients. For the food - the menu was enticing and extensive. Lots of creative things happening here. The app we decided on was the Parmesan crusted Brussels and boy did they not disappoint. Absolutely delicious. There are multiple rooming options, including a self-contained annexe where we stayed during our trip. Davidsville has a quiet, rural setting and makes for pleasant, long drives. Ohiopyle, Mason-Dixon line, and Fallingwater are some of the nearby attractions.

Yes, it is an old, one floor motel like what we stayed in when we traveled in the 70's and 80's but it has just what you need. Very clean room and bathroom, comfortable beds, free wifi, personally controlled ac and heat, parking directly in front of your room, cable tv, coffee maker, microwave, refrigerator, desk with chair, comfortable armchair, benches at the foot of the bed, no odor in room, quiet, safe feeling, pet friendly, inexpensive and did I mention that it's VERY CLEAN. I have stayed at many more much expensive hotels that weren't nearly as clean. No leftover hairs in the shower/tub, no stained sheets, no sticky carpets, and no odors here at Wiltshire. You can sometimes find the gentleman owner walking the property with his dog. He is a super nice man to converse with. He is a very humble man and truly appreciates his guests. He thanked us multiple times for giving his place a chance and staying there. Upon arrival he told me that if for any reason I wasn't satisfied with my room then come right back and tell him. He said after all, you are paying for it so you should be happy. No more super long drive from Michigan to Maryland for me. I will be staying at Wiltshire Motel from now on.

But my boyfriend was doing a gravel bike race here and I reluctantly came along. And I just fell in love w Meyersdale. What a charming little town w the nicest people. And Regina is the best BnB host ever! I've never stayed in a place that was so well thought out. Regina made the BEST breakfasts for us each morning. She had a coffee and tea station that was sooo up my alley. She had so many options of loose tea and I think I drank 2-3 cups a tea each day bc the tea was so good. She had tons of sweetener options to put in your tea (although I drink mine black so I didn't try them out). Anything you could have forgotten to bring (and I mean anything) Regina had on hand. She just had so many extra touches that made the stay a step above the rest. We were here on a colder fall weekend and we had the cutest matching robes to wear. And slippers. The home is stocked w organic, low chemical products. Regina cooks w many local products and makes a concerted effort to reduce waste. I know this isn't important to everyone but it is to me and I wasn't expecting to find this in small town America. We def plan to come back to Meyersdale and when we do the Red Lantern will be where we stay!!!
