Best hotel experience I've ever had. Hush, pleasant, and clean. The location immediately put my heart at ease. It was in a quiet little Pennsylvanian town, with a quaint pond and bridge out front and a wide parking lot. Felt like a giant Southern estate by the water. The discount was 69.95/night, but I think is usually around 100. Worth every penny! Service was excellently amiable. Not in your way at all. Room was incredibly big. A lot bigger than expected. Beds were plush and comfortable. Stairs in the lobby led up to the library, which was a warm plus. Has a pool with a slide (fun!) and a gym. Breakfast was included, with adequate options. We had a long distance trip to New York, and was pleased to find the Comfort suites to stay. It wasn't too far off the interstate, comes with a buffet breakfast, a wonderful restaurant attached, spa, a heated pool with a waterslide and more. Rating: 4 /5 This hotel is an award winning hotel, and I can see why. The staff was friendly and helpful. The decor, ambience, and offerings were all wonderful. The rooms are as pictured, they are spacious and accessible. I would have given 5 stars, but for 2 reasons: 1. The bed was very firm. I do feel like most hotel beds are, but for an "award winning hotel" I was interested to see if the room were different, and they were not much different than any other comfort inn. 2. "Breakfast buffet": Again with this being an "award winning hotel" I was excited for a breakfast buffet that would be as good as the adjoining restaurant food we had the night prior. However, it was pretty standard and very small. They have 2 waffle irons( which most hotels have), they had the smallest platter of hot food I have seen. It was 1 dish with 3 sections. Powdered eggs with a garnish, red potatoes ( they were good though!), and very small thin slices of ham that was sitting in water. This dish that held the food was so small, only 1 person at a time could go up to it. You move down the line to a selection of cereals. A microwave to microwave instant oatmeal, a fridge with hard boiled eggs, milk choices, etc. coffee is from a machine. The breakfast area seating needs to be update as well. The chairs were very worn and for a family of four we had these 4 big chairs at a small table. If I was coming through the area and needed to stay here again, I would, but because of the breakfast and bed- I wouldn't go out of my way just to stay at this hotel, unfortunately. read more

Due to some lake, snow, effect weather, ended up changing plans, and ended up in Dubois, Pennsylvania. So grateful for the snow, I really loved the city. And this hotel is incredible. The Jacuzzi and the pool, a pool table, and 24 hour laundry. read more

We stopped here on our last night. Very friendly and welcoming front desk staff. You could tell he enjoyed his job and was trying to make everyone feel at home. Hotel was very clean. We road trip down to the DuBois/Punxy area every few years, and have stayed at this Comfort Suites a couple times now. There are a few things I love, and one big draw-back. Here's my low-down: ** The rooms are very roomy, comfortable and clean. Cozy beds, two TVs, a nice sitting area, handy extra blankets to snuggle up on the couch, no issues with the room. ** The pool at this hotel is the BIG draw for us. Our kiddos love to swim. The pool is a nice size with a great water slide. Plus there is a big hot tub with a waterfall. Our kiddos always enjoy the pool area. ** My big issue is the breakfast police. Maybe this doesn't matter to some, but it matters to me. Our family road trips have a breakfast routine we all love. My hubbs and daughter go down to breakfast together. My son and I sleep in. They bring us food back to the room. At probably 95% of hotels, this is not an issue at all. But here, sadly it was. They use real plates, not paper plates, and perhaps for that reason there are attendants restricting people from taking food to your room. I can understand if you bring an excessive amount of food away from the breakfast area, then maybe a manager should intervene. But to not allow two portions to go back for two paying customers is ridiculous. So I split the difference in stars for my rating, right down the middle. When we're back in the area, we'll stay here again. We are long-time Choice Privilege members, and I like collecting the points. Plus the hotel is clean, comfortable, great pool, just the breakfast snafu is an issue. Next time we'll bring paper plates, and see if that mitigates that issue. read more

The good: - The gentleman with the ponytail at the front desk was very friendly at check-in. - The cleaning staff were also very polite. - The rate was reasonable for the size of the room. - The surrounding area and little town were very quaint. Nice pond out front near the Dubois country club. The bad: - Our room was a bit musty. When the air conditioner kicked on there was a smell of mildew. When we woke up in the morning we were coughing and sneezing which went away after a couple of hours. Unfortunately, the bad outweighed the good here and next time I am in the area, I will pick a different hotel for the night. read more

This hotel is in a very nice location for being in a town that's in the middle of nowhere. There's a small lake with a fountain that you'll drive by on your way in and two sets of very uncomfortable speed bumps. Country club is also nearby. Interior of the hotel is stunning. Walk inside and you're invited to immediately walk up the grand staircase toward the pool and fitness center. We stayed on the first floor in your average two queens and couch bed. This was fine, until it was 11 pm and other guests were outside our room playing casino games with loud music. No fault to the guests of course, but what a horrible idea to put a mini casino across from rooms. Noise was not fun to have to hear past midnight. Breakfast was less than basic. Enjoyed the aesthetics & looks of the hotel more than I did my experience in my room and with breakfast the next morning. read more

What a gem of a find on a long road trip. Everyone was extremely nice and friendly. The rooms were clean and well kept. The indoor pool has a water slide that my son absolutely loved and a hot tub that had rock features. Felt like a mini vacation to be honest. Went to dinner at the tannery and our waitress was friendly and attentive. Sat outside and had views of the golf course. It's attached to the hotel which made it easy. We got the 1/2 price apps and everything was delicious and the atmosphere was peaceful and serene. Will definitely stop here again! read more

This hotel is top notch. We haves stayed at a lot of hotels while traveling and this one is one of the best. The staff had our room keys ready upon arrival so check-in was a breeze, the room was well appointed and clean, and the full breakfast was delicious (not all hotels can say that for sure). Beware! Have been charged over $1,200. for some "portfolio charges" from three (3) years ago! No email, no phone call. No way! Spent thousands of dollars there and ALWAYS paid in full at close of every stay!! Will file complaint with PA attorney general if harassed any further! read more

The hotel has very nice rooms, they are clean and a great pool area. But, I found the late afternoon/evening people at the front desk to be rather rude. The morning lady was great. The Pool: It's really nice, but be warned that they book birthday parties so the pool can be used by people not staying at the hotel. This is not an issue with me, but I found it rather uncomfortable having to walk through some strangers party where people are eating and opening presents just to get to the pool, and it's not a large party room either, rather a wide hallway. The party people also wipe out all the towels at the the pool. I called down to the front desk to ask for more towels, but I got a snippy "they are drying right now" in response. You have guests who want to swim plus a ton of other people who are not guest swimming. Maybe buy some more pool towels and be prepared? Both days I was there I had to take bath towels from our room because there were none in the pool. Also, if you are not swimming, make sure you bring shorts or some sort of light clothes, because the pool area is unbearably hot. Who doesn't want to pool area to be warm in the middle of February, but the heat was a little bit overkill. If you like quiet, ask to be put on the 3rd or 4th floor. We were on the second, and, which is where there is pool access, and it sounded like cattle in the hallway until the pool closed at 10. The walls in the rooms are paper thin, and if you have a door in your room that goes to the next room over, you can hear a lot of what goes on in that room, and I am sure those occupants can hear what you are doing too. Imagine my unhappiness when my neighbors baby started screaming at 5 in the morning and they did nothing about it for at least a half hour until the baby started to sound like it was being murdered, then someone finally crawled their a$$ out of bed to deal with it. My sleep was shot, but I was wide awake from that and exhausted all day because of my lack of sleep. The breakfast selection was pretty good. I read in other reviews that the breakfast attendants don't like it when you take food to you rooms (they use glass dishes). I made a bagel, which I placed on a napkin and I proceeded to leave the area and I had glaring eyes on me as I left. Uh, maybe provided some paper plates to people who don't want to eat in the breakfast area? Or does that make the hotel look to tacky?? read more

This hotel was a nice surprise -- we have stayed in many Comfort Inns over the years and this was one of the nicest. Large room (king) with comfortable sofa, and a larger and nicer bathroom than usual. Our one complaint with the room was that the refrigerator has no freezer. We like to freeze our blue ice when we're on the road, and we couldn't do that. Not a big deal, but slightly disappointing. The breakfast was standard for a Comfort Inn -- all the usual offerings (waffle maker, cereals, yogurt, etc.) but the chafing dishes didn't keep the hot foods hot. They're not great lukewarm or cold! The attendant was attentive, however, and the room was spacious and spotless. There is also a nice lobby/sitting area so there is somewhere to visit with others besides your room. read more

This is an outstanding property. Beautifully situated, with rooms that compare to 5 star hotels in the northeast. Great pool, large hottub, luxurious fitness room, classy game room / library. Rooms are new with modern fixtures, great open shower. The hotel is positioned on a lush golf course. The included breakfast was lovely with tables in a comfortable, inviting setting. We randomly stopped here enroute from NYC to Denver and very glad we did. Just a little surprised by the quality of the facility ... one of the nicest hotels at this level of hotel we've experienced. Hotel is beautiful! It's a new hotel and looks like it! It is decorated beautifully the rooms are very nice the walk in showers and even the amenities are top shelf! Room was very clean and had everything you would want microwave, refrigerator sitting area Etc I would definitely stay at this hotel again! And also had an indoor pool, a library with games. The only complaint I had about the entire stay was the breakfast it was your typical free Hotel breakfast. read more

This was my favorite hotel out of the several ive stayed at while crossing the country. I need to make this review to inform yelpers that there is a very nice pool area.. while the big pool could be a bit warmer there is a big blue spiral water slide and a big hot tub [thats too hot] with a little water fall! There is also nice chandeliers and a good aumbiance with fireplaces and a pretty stairwell.. the breakfast is like any other but the rooms are pretty nice.. only downsides were they charged me 4 dollars for 2 bottles of water.. latest checkout was noon, there is no bathtub and the shower doesnt close... read more

I have stayed at this location before in the past and it was great. However, this time it was the complete opposite. I had asked one of the housekeepers for some extra towels and the woman sucked her teeth rolled her eyes and basically threw them at me. When I went down to the front desk to make them aware of this, they asked me who it was and when I described the woman to them, they smiled and laughed a little and told me "Don't mind Michelle she is going through some things." I was so upset. I feel like they didn't even care about how their guests are treated. On the way back up to my room I was stopped by a young woman who said she was the housekeeping supervisor and asked if I needed anything and how I was enjoying my stay. When I told her of my issue, she reassured me that the way I was treated was unacceptable and she was extremely sorry for any inconvenience or stress that I was experiencing. She let me know that from that moment on that if I ever needed anything that she would make sure to personally handle it and that I would no longer need to worry about being treated like that again. If this place could get more employees like the housekeeping supervisor, they would probably never have any complaints but until then I hope no one else gets treated the way that I was. read more

Lovely place with wonderful staff. We traveled here for a wedding being held in the adjacent country club. Rooms are spacious, the beds are extremely comfortable and the lobby is beautiful. The pool and hot tub are great with a beautiful golf course view. Breakfast has good choices and varies daily. read more

This is by far the best and nicest Choice Hotel I have ever stayed in. Large rooms, great breakfast choices, and the AARP online price was considerably less than any of the other chain hotels in/near Dubois. It's new (2 years), clean and has a lot of amenities (pool, library, etc). I'd stay here again any time. read more

Very pretty and modern, rooms are nice. Problem was breakfast area filthy, not a lot of food put out for number of guests and common bathroom not cleaned or stocked. I was told they were "short staffed". Unfortunately these are hygiene issues. We ate somewhere else. It has potential, needs work. read more
