The food is by far some of the best I have had in Detroit hands down. I had the lamb chops and spinach.

I walked up not sure if it was even open but a haggard looking woman carrying a bunch of shit popped out and carried on down the road. I knew it was open. When I walked in I was greeted by a friendly bartender with glasses and a handlebar mustache. There were maybe 3 or 4 other people at the bar I could see. A couple more in the back patio. This is a real great bar. They have a pool table, full bar, and great beer selection. Not a huge selection but a good one. Plus it was a gay bar and I couldn't even tell. Great place welcoming everyone. Support local! Cheers!

I want to like Temple Bar because the location is perfect right next to the Masonic Temple. It's…read moreone of those spots you naturally end up at before or after a show, and it has that classic dive bar vibe that could be so good. But if you know crowds are coming when shows let out... you've gotta be ready for it. Two bartenders for a packed bar just wasn't cutting it. I waited about 20 minutes for a drink and eventually just gave up, which is frustrating when you're trying to enjoy a night out. And the one drink I did get earlier honestly looked like a sample cup. The place felt kinda dirty and weirdly quiet (before the rush)? Like super dark (which I get, dive bar) but no music or energy to balance it out. It just felt off. I've been here a few times now hoping it would hit different, but it hasn't yet. If you're the owner reading this, I'd just say plan for those post-show rushes. Even one more bartender and a little boost in atmosphere would go a long way. I'll probably still swing back because of the location, but man... I'd love to actually enjoy it next time.

My friend and I were determined to have veggie botanas and a couple cocktails after work. That was a no go. The first server was great. Marcus was attentive and is usually my server when I visit and sit at the bar. No such luck this evening. He was our server until his shift ended. It was his birthday and he should be allowed the evening to celebrate. Then we cashed out and were handed over to the other server, Kristi. We, two women of color, spent almost fifteen to twenty minutes trying to get her attention to take our orders. This should have been a sign that we were not valued, but we soldiered on. As time continued to tick, we found it easier to cut into Marcus's off time to get him to remind our new server that we were still waiting to place orders. She had not even glanced at us. When we finally did get our food, the botana was full of avocado, but not much else. The beans and cheese were very skimpy. And usually, one botana is enough for me to eat for two days. I had dreams of eating my leftovers for lunch at work. Not today. Oddly enough, she seemed well aware of the table full of white gentlemen seated well after us. This was new to us as we've been coming there for years and even rode out the lounge's COVID-era closure. No matter. Our business was not as valuable as others in her section though it was not a particularly busy night on a Wednesday. I ordered a drink and when the server brought it back, she sat it in front of my friend. When she looked again and realized she'd given it to the wrong person, she simply stated your drink is over there and walked away. The appropriate thing to do is to put down the other drinks for the gentlemen that came after us and give me my beverage. I was proudly a server in college. No way would I have done such. Won't happen because, again, I'm all done here. The nail in the coffin was my friend paid with a $50 bill for one small item. She did not receive the proper amount of change and had to drive back to the venue to get her money. No thanks. I think that Detroiters of color need to be respected as much as the new folks who have recently discovered the area. I'll keep my dollars in my handbag if you can't manage to see me.

We arrived around 10:30 PM, and it ended up being a great find! When you walk in, you're greeted by a bouncer who checks everyone's ID, similar to entering a nightclub. If you plan on drinking, they give you a wristband. At first, the parking lot looked a little sketchy because it was very dark and there were only a couple of cars parked outside, but once we went in, everything was perfectly fine. The layout was really interesting. One side of the building is dedicated to private karaoke rooms, while the other side is the dining area. They offer karaoke rooms in different sizes (small, medium, and large), all with a 3-hour minimum rental, and they even have a club room that can accommodate up to 60 people for larger parties. It looked like it would be a fun place to celebrate birthdays or have a private group night out. We ordered the Crab Broil, and it was the perfect late-night meal. It comes with potatoes and corn on the cob, and everything arrived piping hot. They offer several sauce choices, but the most popular is the All Mixed Sauce, which combines all three of their signature sauces. The garlic Cajun flavor really stood out--it was rich, buttery, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. If you're looking for something a little more filling, I'd definitely recommend adding a side of noodles. They would soak up all of that amazing sauce. The service was excellent. Even though the restaurant wasn't busy, the staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome. Overall, we were so glad we stumbled across this place late at night. Great food, great service, and a fun atmosphere with the added bonus of private karaoke rooms. We'd definitely come back, especially with a group of friends next time!

I enjoyed the drink I ordered which was Mango Paradise. I get the same drink every time because it is delicious. It is a frozen drink and has vodka, rum, pineapple, strawberry, and mango in it. I tried the Long Island iced tea and it was good. Not too overpowering. I ordered fries because I have food allergies and was unable to partake in the seafood boil bags and other food items on the menu. Forgot to take a picture of the chicken wings, but was told they were good. They were regular with no sauce. I was told that the onion rings were not good. It appeared that it had more batter than onion inside the rings or if they had any onion in it at all. The staff is always friendly and helpful even though we have a large group. I just don't know why they assign one person to the large room, would think a few more hands would be helpful. There were times we were neglected because the waitress was overwhelmed. Overall, it's always a great experience here. We always enjoy ourselves and we definitely will be back again.
