This is a hidden gem in Detroit, located behind The Siren Hotel. It's also our second time at this establishment. The place is super cool, the bartender 'Wolf' makes an awesome Bourbon Mule. His service and our time there was exceptional. The next time we are near the area, we will be back.

Loooooooved it! We had so much fun & were amazed by the list of songs! The crowd was fun. The piano player was so talented. The service was good...and they even had a decent Chardonnay ;) I will definitely go back!

My friend and I had a ball at Sid Gold's! We were looking for something fun and unique to do after going to dinner nearby, and live music karaoke is right up our alley. We made a reservation even though it was a Wednesday night, and the room is pretty small so I would recommend making one. Unfortunately, ahead of our visit we received some off-putting texts detailing all the rules (like 2 hr limit) so I admittedly went into it with low expectations, however we didn't end up having any problems. Perhaps they are more strict on the weekends or we just had a good hostess - either way, I'll definitely be back for more good times! The piano player was awesome and the room felt more like a little community with everyone singing along and laughing together. My friend and I tried a few cocktails (e.g., espresso martini, Hemingway daiquiri, etc.) but they're pricey and just ok. Go instead for the music & good times!

I've never felt cooler than when I was here. First thing I knew, I was enjoying a great cocktail in a tiny bar that had great style. Next thing you know, our group is being ushered into the back karaoke room where apparently EVERYONE had the talented voice of a Broadway performer. My first thought was "do I deserve to be here?" and then I just straight up enjoyed and soaked in everyone else's mad singing skills (shout out to most of the people I was with who casually stormed the stage and then brought the house down. No big deal, right? This place seriously is such a blast. The sofas were velvety, the drinks strong and the talent mighty. No one who sang was bad and it felt like attending a show that I didn't even have to pay for. It's a small room and feels intimate, so we got to congratulate other singers and really get involved and cheer for people. Definitely returning when I come back to Detroit!

Love this sign. Look for it in the alley.

A great way to spend the some quality time with friends and reconnect with your vocal chords. I really love the layout of this piano karaoke bar. It's broken into two sections. The first one is a small lounge with a large u-shaped bar to sit at. The other section is the dark karaoke bar. They are both sectioned off so you can't hear what's happening in the adjacent rooms. You have to make a reservation before you can enter the karaoke section of the bar. Which I like, this keeps it from getting over crowded and so loud you can't hear the person singing. No reservation, no singy. During our visit, John was our piano player and he was awesome! Great voice, amazing on the piano and if you got lost or forgot the words, my man would step in and start singing to get you back on track. They had a special holiday cocktail list while I was where, but I stayed with my old stand by, vodka soda. Not a huge fan sugary drinks. I could see hanging out here once in a while, but I don't think this would be my weekly hang spot. But if you've never been here, you should experience it at least once.

We did date night at Sid's last night. The show was $10pp and worth it. We had fun. Emil (my man) brought in a bucket of finger licking good chicken from Penny Reds across the street and I had 2 glasses of Prosecco. By the by im quite picky about bubbly and the house Prosecco was dry and not sweet. I liked it very much. The 20's are definitely back in Detroit and I couldn't be happier to be alive right now. The energy is there. It's exciting not quite as decadent as 1920 but it's a fun time. The city was happening and snow was falling. Walking into Sid's was a throw back experience. Burlesque is erotic and raunchy and I liked it. The performance turned me on, made me laugh and was engaging. Check out burlesque at Sids. Bring a date.

Michael was our lead piano player and MC, and he did a PHENOMENAL job. Guests were up and dancing all night, and he did a great job as the MC. He was professional, funny, on-point, and made sure the music was appropriate for our venue and all-ages crowd. He added fun touches like having the groomsmen dance the YMCA in costume, playing college fight songs, and otherwise making the entire a night a fun, energetic party. This was not your standard show like at a bar. The show was completely geared towards a wedding, and getting people up on the dance floor dancing and singing. After the wedding many of our guests contacted us to say how much they loved the pianos--it seems like the music was by far everyone's favorite part about our reception! Leading up to the wedding the company did a great job about keeping in touch and making sure we were all on the same page and had the plan sorted out. In the weeks ahead of the wedding Bridget made sure to get our schedule and get our music choices figured out. Michael called me a few days in advance and walked me through the plan to make sure he knew what we wanted and knew how to pronounce all the names. He clearly knew exactly what he was doing, so I knew I was in good hands. The day of everything went off without a hitch, and everyone had a great time.

They have two performances 7:00 PM & 8:30 PM. The interior decor is modern with the lounge vibe, kind of what you would expect for a Jazz Club. We were pleasantly greeted by the Hostess when we arrived, checked in and were taken to our table. Our server Julia, promptly greeted us and took our cocktail order. Great craft cocktails! They have a nice diverse menu with many options to choose from. We opted to go for small plates and had the Joey D's Killer Cornbread; sweet potato, with chipotle maple butter. It is served warm of course and it was very, very good. We also ordered the Fried Green Tomatoes, with pimento cheese. They were nicely battered and had great taste and flavor. The pimento cheese was a nice accompaniment. Lastly, we ordered the Apricot-Prosciutto Flatbread with sage-ricotta, burrata and arugula. The only thing we did not care for was the flatbread, it was not browned or crispy like most flatbreads dishes we have had, cooked in a pizza oven. Its consistency was doughy. All the other ingredients on it were good, just not the flatbread itself. The Jazz for the evening was performed by the Noah Hogan Quartet and they were fantastic. Would definitely go see them again. Overall a great experience. Would definitely recommend checking them out. There is a $25 per person cover charge. Reasonable for such a nice club.

The blue mitten baby lettuce salad was pretty simple, I wished there were more toppings on it. I parked behind the building in a paid lot & it wasn't too expensive but filled up quick on the weekend.

This property is housed in the 1925 Metropolitan Building, a stunning Neo-Gothic "Jeweler's Building" that sat vacant for nearly 40 years. Seeing it restored to its former glory rather than being demolished is a win for the city.  The entrance lobby and the grand stairway to the second floor are phenomenal--the restoration team clearly put a lot of heart into preserving the marble and the ornate details. Because the hotel has to conform to the original historic footprint, the rooms are unique and oddly shaped. It was a refreshing change of pace to stay somewhere that broke out of the usual "cookie-cutter" hotel mold. My room featured a long internal hallway, a small kitchenette, and enough windows to provide a fantastic view of the Detroit skyline.  Check-in was seamless, and the staff were excellent throughout my stay. I initially considered subtracting a star because my room lacked a steamer, but the breakfast service won me back. The made-to-order omelets and the yogurt granola station were top-notch, and that high-quality start to the day made up for any minor room omissions. If you appreciate architecture with a history and a bit of character, this is definitely the place to stay in Detroit.
