The dentist was impressively thorough, took their time actually examining my teeth, and broke everything down in a way that felt transparent and professional instead of rushed or salesy. I was sent an for an amount over above what comfortable care quoted me and confirmed on three different occasions from my insurance company. There was no itemization for what this bill was for. I just keep getting it. I have sent them two letters. signature which I never got and filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, which they have not responded to asking why they are billing me for an amount over an above when this was between them and the insurance company since I paid them what they quoted upon calling my dental insurance company I find out that they have this for a procedure. I did not done and actually made the quantity of two instead of one. My insurance company has been unable to get them on the telephone to resolve this and have them the correct procedure. I had done a quantity of one and my bill will be paid. I have loved my dentist and her generosity for the last 20+ years, but their office is not accurate in their billing as this is the second time I've had a major issue with them, and I am forced to leave the dental practice that I have loved for so many years. What a shame that they do not itemize their bills had they done I could've called and rectified this with one quick phone call but no they just keep sending the bills and ignoring my written letter letters. I have been visiting this practice with my mother who had to have pretty major dental extractions and new bottom Dentures fitted. She is terrified of the dentist and also is on medications that make bleeding a risk. Dr. Smith is the first dentist in town that made my Mom feel safe and at ease. From the nurses to the front desk staff everyone has been so kind to her and me as well. Her procedure went smoothly and they are great at fitting her in for adjustments. Refused to clean cavity that the appt was for, and wanted to work on small cavity, so the bigger cavity scheduled could get worse and right away requests Root canal. Tried charging me for 3 cavities when it was only 1. Scam artist!!!! Very rude and UN-professional, yelled at me for questioning her (Dentist: Mine Turhan) about why she's procrastinating on fixing my cavity that needs attention for over 4 weeks and charging me for more cavity than I have and refusing treatment for cavity appointment so she can get root canal $$ instead. Worst place and worst Dentist ever experienced! Check your bills from this dentist charges - over charging and adding extra's that were not serviced. Follow up- I received a call from the office saying insurance didn't cover my one daughters visit- I mentioned that there had been confusion previously about the insurance billing- no- that wasn't the problem. My HR manager had to do a 3 way call to the office with the insurance company only to find out the office was putting my daughters charges under me- did it never occur to double check check? Stay away from Bee Ridge Comfortable Care - ironic name. Comfortable Care is crown happy, money hungry and unethical !!! New to Sarasota and I needed a dentist. First warning was a post card in my mailbox advertising their business. Mistakenly, I called and made the appt., complained that I needed a bite adjustment. After X-rays, thorough exam, etc, I was told I needed FIVE crowns. Foolishly, and knowing I probably would never make another appt to come back, I agreed to THREE of the crowns since I was already in the chair. Four hours later, much discomfort, a temporary crown, and although I had dental insurance, parted with $1200 before leaving the office, with $1200 still due. By the way.....one of these crowns was placed on a wisdom tooth ! Now this dentist stirred up a hornets nest in the upper left quadrant. I had constant pain for 3 months - took more aleve during that time than ever in my life. Dentist office kept calling & calling to make the appt to install permanent crown - please note, insurance did not pay until permanent crown is in place ! I was advised by my old dentist "do not let them put in the permanent crown while you are still having pain". I finally gave in just to get Comfortable Care out of my life, but never let them do the other 2 crowns. I went back to my old dentist 2 1/2 hours away and mentioned the fact that I was told I needed 2 crowns on the opposite side - he said "let's just watch it".......we've been watching it now for 2 years and 7 months. PATIENT BEWARE!!!!! I left Comfortable Care but returned since my new dentists office was closed at the time I thought my bridge had broken. BIG mistake. They stuck me in a back room that was dirty. The floor, plastic cabinetry etc. where the hygenist ( WHO SMELLED LIKE CIGARETT SMOKE) took xrays and kept leaving me alone for who knows why. She diagnoised me as having decay under my bridge in two places. She worked up a quote which she said took so long because the printer was out of ink. Over an hour later, having not seen the xrays (the machine was not working right) the Dr took her diagnosis and they hit me with an insane $$$$$$ quote. They wanted me to sign a contract before I left. I retuned to my new dentist who took xrays and said everything looked great but I had a chip in my porcelain crown. Smoothed it over polished, done. I don't know how I got into this mess. Went in for routine dental cleaning and 5 crowns later $4,000+, now being told I need root canal in one of the teeth with crown. It's like someone had hypnotized me, I let them put in crowns in May, have pain & sensitivity in all the crowned teeth. One tooth is hurting like hell, now I'm told I need a root canal. I've been going to dentist regularly, every 6 months in NJ. Being new to FL, received a card from this Hell Clinic. Now I don't know what to do, my whole side of mouth is ruined. Our initial experience with this dentist aroused suspicions because both my wife and I were diagnosed to have thousands of dollars of dental work needed even though we'd been under the diligent care of our dentist in Virginia (we've just moved to Sarasota so are looking for a new practitioner). But in spite of these questionable and self-interested diagnoses, we went for our introductory hygiene session. But, just had have others, we got ambushed by the undisclosed and expensive fluoride treatment. So there are two lessons here: read the reviews in advance and don't patronize this dentist. I wouldn't even give them one star . They are money hungry vultures . I had 2 bridges replaced that were 20 years old. I paid over $12000 for the bridges plus my insurance paid $2000.They said the Insurance was going to pay $2000 on one of them and I later received a bill for the other $1000 my policy only paid 1000 and they said it would pay $2000. One of the new ones broke off at the gum line and now I have to have 2 implants to replace the bridge, that was only 30 months ago The bridge never felt right . The second one has also come off and it will need to be cemented back in. They were charging my wife an additional 100 plus dollars for cleanings over the Insurance payment and she has perfect teeth, this is after they convinced her she needed braces for the second time. the recently told her she needed $6000 worth of work I finally convinced her to get a second opinion . One of the dentists is completely unresponsive. Called him over and over about pain after a procedure and kept getting told that it was "fine." Finally, after weeks of pain went to another dentist for second opinion and the problem was diagnosed within 10 minutes. Nightmare. THREE fillings had to be redone. THREE. Unacceptable. read more

Went to this dentist for pain relief and was recommended a root canal. 6 weeks after root canal I was still experiencing a great deal of pain. Was told tooth needed to be removed and extensive work totaling $4000+ was necessary. When I said I did not have that kind of money it was suggested that I take a loan against my 401K. Went to an endodontist that redid root canal and some gum surgery to remove a cyst that was not caught by former dentist and tooth was saved. read more

I loved the crowns that Dr Smith made perfectly in May 2018. No impression needed like the old way with the goo. She scanned the teeth that were top and bottom to make the crowns. I am very happy with the care I have been receiving by Dr Smith. I didn't have insurance but they were kind enough to discount the usual price and was happy with the amount. I am going in for another tooth in January 2019 that needs an implant that was diagnosed by another dentist that I have insurance with (Delta Care of FL HMO which is basically only good for cleanings xrays and nothing else). I see Dr. Smith for the serious stuff. She is knowledgeable and I feel comfortable with her taking care of my teeth. read more

This may have been the worst experience I ever had at any medical or dental professional's office. Because I was unhappy with the diagnosis of my needs and I said that in my review to the survey, not only did no one speak to me when I went for my cleaning but they did my cleaning in literally 15 minutes after it had been a year since my last at a qualified dentist! I am a new patient so in order for me to get the basic exam, X-rays and cleaning covered by insurance this group required a consultation with the dentist first then schedule another appointment for the cleaning. A little annoying and time consuming but I was willing to work with them. The place is clean and seem to be on time. When I went back for my cleaning I had the normal cleaning and then fluoride put onto my teeth. Never did the hygienist or receptionist ask if I wanted an extra procedure. When I walked out to schedule my next appt they said I owed $39 since fluoride is NOT covered by insurance. At this point I said I was never asked prior to the cleaning if I wanted fluoride. I mentioned that it would be more professional and pure courtesy if you asked your clients prior, to let them know what they are paying for beforehand. Be aware and make sure to ASK ahead of time for out of pocket costs. Looks like they are trying to make $$ any way they can. Will most likely not be going back. read more

I have gone to comfortable care for a few years mainly because of the hygenist . Today when I arrived the same dingy waiting room carpet and to my surprise not my regular hygenist. They told me she went home early. The new hygenist tried to apologize. The dentist did not come to complete the exam for 15 minutes after the cleaning. Another dentist substituted for him and to top it off no toothbrush (this is the 3rd time) floss, toothpaste etc. I think the tools were not clean because my stomach was upset after I left. I have spent the last twelve years since moving to this area jumping from one dentist to another. I've been trying to find a dentist that I trust that takes my insurance. I have had the most awful experiences until finding Dr. Lee and his team. First I have had Kim as a hygienist for about a year and I have been really happy with her. New Year's eve and I get a major tooth ache, I call the office on that Tuesday and that had me come in. That's when I encountered Alana, who was so gentle and kind I didn't even feel like I was in a dentist office. She was the best she found the problem and had Dr. Lee go over my options and Alana went over the cost. I came back in to have the first step of a three step procedure and it was pretty extensive. Alana and Dr. Lee were fantastic! From start to finish no pain and the cost were spot on. I am actually looking forward to my next procedure (imagine that). Thank you Dr. Lee, Alana and Karolyn.
