Last year I went to this dentist for exam and cleanings. I mentioned that there's sensitivity around my nose above a tooth where I had a root canal previously. They looked at the xray and said everything is fine. I went to a new dentist because the sensitivity got worse. My new dentist showed me the X-ray Dental Care of Casey Key took where there was an obvious dark spot of infection that they ignored. It has grown significantly with massive bone loss and now I have to have an extraction, significant bone graft and 2 step implant placement on a FRONT tooth. I'm 31 years old with otherwise healthy teeth. This could have been prevented or at least treated early had the dentist not been negligent in assessing my X-rays. Dental Care of Casey Key also said I have perio disease and had me go through the entire SRP procedure. My current dentist said I do not have perio and then pockets on my back teeth are likely "pseudo" pockets from having my wisdom teeth extracted as a kid, which can affect your gum tissue. This office also changed my hygienist without telling me until I showed up for the appointment. I don't suggest going here.

Please read my experience with dental care at the Smile Center as a warning of how things can go wrong at this dental office. I live in Florida, but spend the summer in Europe. I always have a routine dental cleaning in April before I leave. My previous dental office moved to another city. For this reason, I registered with Dr. Ashley Wagler at Smile Center. I had a mandatory new patient exam scheduled for April 7, two weeks before a dental cleaning appointment. I didn't have any toothache, but Dr. Wagler aggressively talked me into getting crowns. One of the crowns in the treatment plan was tooth 31. The temporary crown was placed the next day. The day after, I had pain in the lower right quadrant. I informed the office about the pain and requested the dental chart. In the past, the dental chart was always included in the treatment plan. To my surprise, the dental chart showed that the position of 32 was empty, and the wisdom tooth was placed in position 31. I was unable to discuss this error right away because Dr. Wagner was out of the office until April 14th. When she returned, I learned that the crown is ready for the wisdom tooth. There was no apology for errors on the treatment plan and dental chart. I pointed out that she didn't discuss with me an alternative treatment option: removing the wisdom tooth. Dr. Wagler's answer was: "For me it was only one option." Every day I had tooth pain and woke up often at night because of it. The placement of permanent crowns was scheduled for April 17. Just before cementation, Dr. Wagler handed me a consent form to sign. I asked for a written statement about covering the costs of wisdom tooth removal in the event of problems with this tooth. Dr. Wagler refused it. She angrily said that she would place the temporary crowns back. At that time, this option was not feasible. I only had a week before my flight to Europe, so there was no time to visit the new clinic. After the permanent crown was placed, the pain did not go away. Dr. Wagler said pain can last up to a month after the crown is placed. It's been three months, and I still feel pain when cleaning my wisdom tooth with a water irrigator, drinking cold drinks, and taking hard bites. This is a highly stressful and unfair situation to be in. I am upset, anxious, and I am looking for ways to protect myself. I hope Dr, Wagler will take responsibility for her dental malpractice.

Nancy is the absolute best and kept me laughing and distracted from start to finish. I truly do not think I could have handled the procedure as well as I did without Nancy's reassurances and kind words. It is easy to see that she cares about her patients and their comfort. When I got back the repaired denture put it in my mouth, the nurse told me it has a problem and the tooth was misplaced, I told the nurse that I had an urgent meeting and need to leave, so she told me no problem when you'll come back it's going to be fixed! I came back and the dentist VU Dang came to see the problem, I told him I had to leave last time and was told to come back, but at first he tried to convince me that it is ok and no need to be fixed, showing me he does not care about his patients considering them old, senile and stupid, when I insisted that I want to correct it, he asked $120 for repairing the work that he performed and massed it up! In addition to the phone calls, I tapped a button on an email to confirm but apparently that was also not good enough. Phone calls come in from Nokomis Dental without caller ID and go to spam. My wife and I have been patients here for years, never missing or arriving late for any appointments. When I spoke with office staff the response I received was that the hygienist never calls for confirmation, to well, she did as an initial confirmation but things can happen and their policy requires additional confirmations. What a waste of time driving 25 minutes each way to bee treated this way!

During my first appointment, they tried to upsell me on cosmetic dentistry and an Invisalign. My teeth are straight. I just scheduled an appointment and after checking in and waiting, I received a very important call regarding a legal matter I was waiting for. I and asked if I could step outside for just a few minutes to answer questions and was given the okay. Once, I was outside multiple people came looking for me interrupting my call and delaying my return. When I came back in and asked where I should go, I was told that I wasn't able to be seen today. Of course, I left immediately. This all occurred with 11 minutes from the start of my appointment. I can tell by the reviews and the empty lobby, they aren't going to last long in our wonderful community. Hope it gets turned into a medspa. For the business owner or media admin, I don't want to be contacted or receive an apology on yelp.
