When I explained that I could not afford the $1,500 tooth replacement, Dr. Delaney presented me with two alternative options: Option 1 -- Partial Wire Bridge ($235): A wire fitted into a rut ground into each tooth on either side of the gap. This was the option I said I could afford. Option 2 -- Partial Plate with Caps and Crown ($1,190): This procedure required grinding enamel off the teeth on either side of the gap to fit caps. I stated clearly and explicitly that I could not afford this option. I am retired and living on a fixed income. I communicated this to Dr. Delaney clearly and more than once. I agreed to proceed with Option 1 -- the Partial Wire Bridge at $235 -- and an appointment was scheduled for April 27, 2026, specifically for that procedure. On April 27, 2026, I arrived at Commerce Family Dental and told the receptionist I was there for the Partial Wire Bridge. I was given a consent form to sign. The form referenced caps and crowns -- not a bridge. When I questioned this discrepancy, staff told me it was the standard form used for all such procedures. Because I was unfamiliar with the bridge procedure, I had no way of knowing at that moment that something was wrong. It was only after the procedure was completed that Dr. Delaney informed me that temporary caps had been placed on the teeth on either side of the gap -- not a wire bridge -- because, she said, those teeth would be sensitive to cold. At checkout, I told the clerk I owed $235 for the wire bridge. The clerk insisted I owed $950 for three crowns. I protested.
