We get seated at a nice table and I go over the menu. They have a prime rib special here for $17.99 and it's available everyday from 11 am! Most of these casino restaurants that have prime rib, only have that on Fri and Sat after like 4 pm. I passed this time, but what I did see was the Chicken Fried Steak! It's supposed to be a 10 oz. beef patty, breaded and deep fried served with country gravy, hashbrowns and toast, and then even THREE eggs, for just $13, that's a deal. In the Bay Area where I was just working, they don't even serve Chicken Fried Steak ..... it's like truck driver food I guess. My friend had this Cali Omelet ... yeah it was sort of breakfast time for us. That was the more healthy option with veggies and no meat, just the opposite of what I ordered! The food came out in short time and look fab! I ordered my Chicken Fried Steak on a separate plat with gravy on the side, so I didn't get gravy all mushed up with my eggs and potatoes. Holy moly, that was a lot of food! Super tasty, I just ate half and took the rest to go, gave it to my friend since I flying back out soon and I don't think the airline would appreciate me bring Chicken fried steak on the plane to eat! We arrived early in the evening and the gal that checked us in was not super friendly and did not explain anything about our accommodations (Wi-Fi, Breakfast, etc.). We dropped our stuff & dog into our room and went to dinner. Later that night we got back and our tv remote would not work and we could only get Cinemax. And the bed was nothing but springs. My husband went downstairs to talk to the gal, and I went to get ice. The gal at the front desk said she could move us but did not have any pet rooms available. So, no help. Meanwhile the ice machine was broken and had a note that said to go to the restaurant to get ice. A server was counting at the register and asked me to wait, not an issue. However, that was the only thing she said and seemed put out when she took the ice bucket and brought it back. We went to bar and the bartender came off as rude. We decided that night that we would cancel our reservations for the next night and go somewhere else. In the morning, my husband talked to the Assistant General Manager - Steven W. and he went above and beyond. Our stay the following evening with my sister and her husband was delightful. We both had nice, remodeled rooms and the staff we encountered all seemed to be having a better day. I know the hospitality business can be brutal to work in, but great leadership always shows. We started off in the back bar, and I can't remember the nice lady's name, but she was on point. WE gambled and drank a bit, then went and gambled a little bit more, and actually won all of our money back, so we decided to sit in the front bar and just pay for drinks so I didn't give the house back the money hahaha Char (pronounced like 'Cher', not Char-Broil hahaha) was our bartender in the front bar. She actually helped us on the floor also before we sat to drink. It was the day after christmas, and their staff was run wire thin, they were covering the floor and bartending, busting their butts. I've never had an issue with service here, ever. It was cold outside, even snowed overnight. Not a single issue with the AC, despite others complaints. Maverick does not do that... so be prepared to pay for breakfast in the morning. The other disappointing thing is the outdoor pool. I will forever be partial to hotels that have indoor pools that are open year round. Give me a hot tub, please. Otherwise the rooms are super nice and clean. The showers are hot. The WiFi is free. And our room at least had a working AC and heater unit. I also think it's kind of cool that the rooms have a little balcony that actually opens. The rooms also have a mini fridge and a microwave and a Kcup coffee machine, which are all very nice to have. At the end of the day, we took these rooms because they were so cheap... but the no breakfast really is the biggest bummer.
