Love my softener and drinking water system. Had it installed for a couple years now and still have had no issues. Every technician that has been to my house has been respectful, answered all my questions and did a fantastic job for checking over my equipment and testing water quality. The salt sale is also great and the quality of salt they offer is actually more pure than most store bought salt so it is a bit pricier but worth it to me. I use two of their services (water softener and water filter) I sent them an email about a thingy in my water softener but never heard back. I waited a few days, so I called them and was #1 in the wait queue but never hear back. I finally called one of their locations and he explained it. I would say spotty service. read more

I bought their bulk salt program in Burnsville which was sold to me as I can pick up salt at any location when I was running low. I stopped in at the Blaine location and was told they don't do the bulk salt program. That program was only at the Burnsville and Golden Valley location. Of course the receptionist, who fault it was not, was very apologetic but I still don't have any salt. I guess I will need to drive to a different location to get the salt I already paid for. I assure you after I pick up all the remaining salt owed to me, I will never over pay for your products or services again. we bought their evolve series water softener and conditioner along with their evolve series water filter.Cold water was fine before serivce. After a year in service we called and had them come changed the RO filter and routine system check. After the tech left our cold water started purging with iron color water after the service. Call and customer service manager on duty claim it is not their issue and for us to call Plummer. read more

We have had their system in our home since we bought in 1983. Upgraded once. We have never had an issue ever. We use all their products-salt, conditioner... We buy salt on Saturdays. They load it directly into our vehicle. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. In the past 3 months our water softener has flooded our utility room, which is where we do laundry daily and our cats litter box is. Both times it's because of the drain tube coming off where it connects to the utility sink and now coming off where it attaches to the back of the softener tank. They've flooded part of our basement TWICE due to poor quality of securing the tubes and all they say is $119 for the first 15 mins. Wow. BBB complaint is next on the list. Thank god these are owned. Leaving this company ASAP. Where are your ethics and morals? Shame on you. read more

First, there is no follow up after installation. Second, if you have any error code, make sure you FULLY understand the impending charges that are coming your way. Third, the cost of ownership is probably not worth buying this system. Captive audience. Not negotiable. Service call 'covers' nothing. So disappointed. Additional note: They don't care that your system is not performing as advertised. They are more than willing to send out a service person for the same issue and are clear that it would be a minimum of $119. At some point, the Lemon Law comes into effect and the age of my particular unit is 6 years old and they claim they should last 12-15 years. So, me, one person living here, one might say the uilization is LOW. If necessary, I will gather my utilization/gals. From my city. I called to get a quote when we were moving into our new place and after realizing the cost of moving, we had decided water treatment would sit on the back burner until we had our finances back in order. I told Rob from Commers water this, letting him know Id contact him if/when we were ready. He continued to call twice a month and left a message every time, addressing my husband as the wrong name, and has done so now for 6 months. I finally answered today and let him know we no longer need water treatment and his response was "you don't? Okay.." and it was in a non-friendly voice, and he was quiet.. making it awkward and like it was my fault I didn't want his service. Anyways- I just find their sales tactic annoying. read more

After speaking with Rob, he shared his concern and it was the first time he heard about my water softener issue. Use any other water softener service/company. Commers installs bad units, then has the gall to charge for service calls the moment you are out of labor warranty. DO NOT GIVE COMMERS ANY BUSINESS! Pay the little bit extra for a competitor who will actually stand behind their product, instead of selling you a defective unit knowing they can make money off the multiple service calls it will require. We got our Commers water softener at the state fair 2 summers ago and have been meaning to return it ever since. It just doesn't work. Calcium in the bathtub, calcium in the coffee pot, calcium on the shower heads, calcium on the faucets. And our skin is so dry from showering in Commers water that we are itching constanly. From time to time our water smells like rotten eggs and tastes salty. Can anyone recommend someone else? read more

I called Commers mid December 2016 for a quote to replace my old softener. I tried to haggle, they wouldn't, just gave me a set price. Refreshing. Next I called some competitors. They were about the same price, some were a bit cheaper but seemed pushy and too eager to upsell (too many questions, building a sales pitch, get me in their lead database, etc.). I called Commers back and they came out the next day. At my request, the installer re-plumbed my kitchen cold water line to no longer bypass the softener. No charge, impressive. He was punctual, fast, helpful, and cleaned his worksite when done. I was very impressed. The next day I noticed a plastic-y, semi metallic, bitter after taste in the water. I flushed all the lines and tasted multiple taps, all bad. Had my kids and friends try too, same opinion. I called Commers, they set a service call right away and suggested I regenerate the system because maybe the new resin beads were the culprit. So I did and it seemed to help a little. The tech showed up on time, found nothing wrong, added sanitizer to the brine tank. We both noticed the brine tank had a strong plastic off gassing smell, normal for new items, so I decided to leave it open for a few days. He suggested I flush the system a few more times as this seemed to help. I asked for more salt to compensate for the extra regenerations, he threw in a bag no charge. Before he left he notice I tripped over the drain spout and cracked the mount so he replaced it no charge. Overall great experience, great people, great company. My only suggestion is that they tell folks who use soft water for drinking to flush the system multiple times to get rid of that factory fresh "new car" taste. read more

We have only had our Commers Water softener for 6 years. Recently the resin has been escaping through the discharge hose into our utility sink. The first repairmen replaced valve and flap parts not even knowing what might be the problem. Days later found out the problem was worse. They came out a second time and replaced more parts only because they didn't know what caused the problem. Still was not fixed, but was charged parts and labor totaling over $270 for the two service calls. They didn't seem to care that the problem was not fixed and I am not calling them again for another service call. I am checking with another source for repair. I am very disappointed with their repair department. Will not buy from them again. read more

Giving this review based on sales tactics alone, as there were none - just a friendly, no-pressure conversation where Terry answered our questions and was up-front about prices, warranties, and comparing salt and water use on all of their equipment. It was an awesome experience!!! Didn't use fear-mongering or try to upsell us - just allowed us to make an informed decision based on the information we wanted on all of their units. Went immediately to Commers upon leaving a place called Haferman - where I was treated like absolute garbage by a "salesman" who was more of an angry robot-type who wouldn't answer any questions or give me any prices because he wasn't done "working us"...whatever the H that means. This is our fourth home and our fourth Commers Water Softener since we moved to the upper Midwest in 1987. We learned from the first installation that Commers does not market on price points. Yes, they are a bit more expensive that what you can find at the Big Box stores but their products work! And they stand by their products and service. We recently moved to Western Wisconsin (go Packers!) and the home had an existing water softener. I told my wife "this unit will be replaced by Christmas 2018" and she just smiled. I called Commers, had our water tested, and installation was completed within a week. If you want a water softener based on low price; go to a Big Box. If you want a water softener from a company with integrity; go to Commers. :) read more

I know it's a family owned business so I would expect better customer service. I've had my reverse osmosis water system break down several times and am currently trying to get it fixed. If ones has a job, it's difficult to get a service call scheduled, very inflexible. I am just a grandma trying to provide clean drinking water for my grandchildren. Writing an update to my prior review. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau that Commers installed a hot water heater in our house last June that has not worked properly since the day it was installed. It has repeatedly blown pressure valves and flooded our basement since installed. Commers has refused to replace it or come up with a solution. THEN in response to the BBB complaint they told the BBB that they HAD in fact put in a second new water heater already and we were still complaining. This is a completely UNTRUE statement. They also said that while they sell hot water heaters they are not licensed to install them so they contract with another company and seemed to blame the other company for the issues. We paid Commers for the water heater. They are responsible. BUYER BEWARE if you have them sell you anything. They filed a false statement with the BBB and blamed on us for complaining about it leaking water all over. You should use caution when buying a hot water heater from this company. They clearly don't stand by their work. read more

Today we had a new water system put in. The installer Ivan was outstanding and professional in every way. He had his challenges with the old equipment and gave his all to remove it. I'm so happy to work with one company who is a one stop shop who manufactures their equipment, has installers to make it happen, and service to back it up. You couldn't ask for better. Bad service bad company. This water softner has never woked properly. We had for 1 yaer when we asked them to please check it. They sent one young man with a small tester and said it was ok. It clearly was not. They would not send anyone else without a $100 charge. And they were not nice. I travel for a living using a different hotel 4 nights a week, none of them have as hard of water as ours. read more

Fast service! I had a 22year old Commers system. I wanted something newer and bigger. I called and they came out and tested my water and they installed a new water softener the next day! They don't even deserve a 1 rating. Solid ZERO!! Their customer service is the WORST ever. The company clearly cares more about $$$ than their customers. I moved out of my home back in the early part of this summer, let them know right away, and am still being charged for the monthly water purifier rental 4 months later. Rather than do their jobs and contact the new owner directly, I have had to play middle man and do their jobs for them. Still no resolution or refunds 4 months after I moved. And, to top it all, their administration is saying I should have had the unit removed prior to selling our home and it's still my responsibility. I let them know of the situation and assumed they would be professional enough to get it handled. Never again. I will go with Culligan or Kinetico. No to Commers, no matter what! read more

We called a few places and went with Commers because they are local and a Family business and that matters to us. The softner has been in for a week and I just love it. My 81 year old mother had a water softener system installed by Commers the Water Company in September 2010 and had rented it, on beknowest by her children. We started to pay her bills for her recently as she has become disoriented and we realized that she was still renting their water softener for the last 7 years. By renting it, she has paid for this softner 3 times the original cost of it. I called up the company hoping to just buy it from them and although this softner is now 7 years old, they still wanted another $356 to buy it from them. We called again and tried to negotiate the price and they would not budge. Along with that, they have also been charging her $2.00/month for the last 7 years for mailing her a paper statement each month even though it was set up as an autodraft by Commers. We are now having it removed from her house. I feel like they have taken advantage of my 88 year old mother. I would not recommend them. read more

I'm done with them. I built my house 26 years ago. I had them install my first softener because of a coupon that came in my new house packet. I have had three softeners installed by them since and now this latest one is bad a well. It was always some excuse as to why the unit quit working. When considering a water softener, do not go with a regional company like Commers. If you use a national brand - Culligan, etc., or buy a unit from Home Depot for example, if there is a problem you can return it, cancel service, etc. Not with Commers. They recommended a unit for my home that is not compatible with my well. They suggested that I bought the wrong unit (they recommended it!) and offered to upsell me. I said yes, if they could guarantee that it will work. They could not (so why the offer?). Solution? Nothing, it's my problem. I own an expensive softener, sitting unused. Bottom line - go with a national brand or retailer. read more
