I have been with ANZ since I was a yelping wee little thing and for a reason. I take my customer service really seriously. I am one of those people who don't appreciate the fake hello's and sarcastic looks tellers give me and my kids running amuck. This Mt Ommaney branch has a little section in the waiting area for kids to muck around, and I have never in the 20+ years I have been going there had a non-genuine smile. It's OK to be grumpy people! Dolores, who helped us with our home loan, Natasha who kindly offered to meet with me to review my accounts and see if there was anything she could do to save me more money, Renee who is the branch manager, always ready to answer the phone. The ladies and gentleman in this branch are testament to why this branch, this bank is my favourite one to go to. I've always been greeted with genuine kindness and sometimes concern. I've never had to wait for a long period of time and they have always gone above and beyond to help me out. If there were 20 people in line, they would still be happy to chat to you about other options even after your transaction. Can't speak more highly of the staff here.

Not just for the same home loan, but plenty of other enquiries too. I know a few staff on first-name-basis now and when they see me walk in there a little nod of acknowledgement. If you get a ticket to see the Teller, that doesn't take too long, however, you could be there awhile waiting to speak to someone in regards to your enquiries especially from 11am through to 3pm on weekdays. Bring your favourite magazine or a book as there isn't much to do as you wait. This is the only frustrating thing at this ANZ. It's almost as if there aren't enough staff for this busy branch. Other than that, when you do get seen, it reminds me of why I keep coming back. The service is akin to non. All questions are answered and explained and they go above and beyond to make sure you've got the most out of your time with them. It's full of professional and friendly staff- great bank!

As an American, I wanted to open an account in Australia to have free global transfers. However, Australia post refused to take my us bank card as a second ID during identity verification, saying that I needed an Australian bank card even though this wasn't specified on the document. Citibank said that my American bank card would be fine. After going back and forth between the post office and bank, who were telling me two opposite things, I gave up. This Citibank branch is a joke of a bank. What kind of bank has no cash and needs the post office to do their job for them? The banker didn't want to admit that their partnership with the post office wasn't working , and even blamed Obama for all these difficulties when it was clearly their own laziness, because we could have just filled out a w9. The whole experience was horrible and I taken my business elsewhere.

Staff manning the phones or on the counter are always very friendly and helpful. Credit Unions, unlike banks, are run for the benefit of members not shareholders and it shows through time and again. Admittedly, I was very confused when the invitation said it was at the Queensland police credit union, and still confused when it was explained to me that it was on the roof of it. Anyway, the location is in a great spot completely overlooking the river/Southbank and the city. One downside was that guests aren't able to enter the lobby or use the elevator unless someone comes down to the ground floor with a key and escorts you upstairs. The rooftop itself was nice, spacious, and like I said has great views. There is only one female bathroom and one male bathroom. One mirror...ONE mirror...take a moment to picture girls attending a 21st birthday having to share this one mirror with everyone else including males. The bathrooms were very very dingy/dirty to say the least, and the girls bathroom door doesn't lock properly. The function seemed pretty lenient, the rooftop was fully decked out with 21st birthday banners and music. You can bring your own alcohol as long as it is not in glasses. Cool spot I suppose, if you get an invite to a private function here definitely check it out if only for the view.

I love the fact that, as a regular, the staff know who you are: I honestly wouldn't know how to use a bank where they don't know you (do you show ID? is there a retinal scan? IS IT SAFE?!). Staff are extremely efficient and friendly, and there is nothing quite like knowing your bank manager to know you're being taken care of. And, really, you can't avoid the bank when you have physical money to deposit. In the end, I did get internet banking, but I still come here pretty regularly, because it's much nicer to hear your balance is $10 from someone you've known half your life than on some computer screen.
