Different than we expected, but this was a great little bar! This bar was TINY! So it probably was not the best place for us to be meeting another couple for drinks as it was difficult to get seating together and there is limited room for standing as well. That being said, this was a great little bar and I plan to return. It's definitely a "hole in the wall" type of joint - but I that's definitely part of the charm. The beer menu was varied - some familiar beers and beers that were completely new to me as well! Great, local little spot. Bartender was great, music was good too and at the right volume for conversation. Seems like a good place to meet a friend (a duo) or just pop in and have a drink from time to time. read more

Classic dive bar. Friendly staff and fair prices. It's quite tiny so it can be hard to find seating but it's a nice place for an intimate outting with friends. They play nice music here and it's always a friendly atmosphere! read more

After reading so many wonderful reviews here on Yelp, this bar was first on my list of dive bars to visit in Toronto. My husband and i ended up walking (a long way) to find it, but we were on a mission! We finally found it and rolled in on a Sunday night at about 12:00am, luckily to an empty bar and bellied up to the bar. The bartender that night was Tim- he was awesome! If you go there, please tell him Jessica & Andrew from Chicago say hi! He knew so much about all the beers and let me sample the one's i had never tried and when i ordered it, and ended up not liking it- he did not charge me for a new one. Awesome. It started getting a little more packed as last call was getting closer- and you are sitting so close to people you end up meeting so many cool folk. They have a huge jar of Pickled eggs, that i ended up trying (for the first time) and it was awesome. We had plans that night- to try a few different bars- but ended up here all night long. Tim really took care of us! If you like- hole in the wall bars... this one is the best one i have ever been to! hands down. read more

Probably the best and friendliest Bar in Toronto. Only complaint is Cash Only though there are two banks with machines nearby. Extremely friendly Bar Staff and fun snack menu. Cozy, quaint. But I see it more as an over-priced dive bar. Don't go out of your way for this place.

Good enough for a drink. Great for a cheap drink!! They were too busy to get us anything to eat, so we had to step out to the convenience store to pick up chips and nuts to snack on. Loved this little dive. Creaky wooden tables and chairs, a bar that looks more like a long kitchen cabinet and old lace curtains. It's so low ambient that if they tried any less you'd think it was an abandoned storefront. And prices were just right too. However, my advice, don't order a Margarita. read more

The name alone makes you curious. The space was dark and cozy. Perfect to catch up with friends and chat even on a busy Saturday night. Didn't really think it was that much of a scene. To the management: go further with the name...get special...why not serve proletariat punch?! read more

We went here for my birthday a few years ago and we really liked the vibe. Intimate and fun.

It's nice to come hangout. My partner and I just had a canned beer and cider, and it was more or less like grabbing a drink from your friends fridge and hanging out for a while. I had the privilege of celebrating my 50th Birthday at this fine establishment. A must do if you are in Toronto. We were looking for live music. The bartender was sooo helpful to make sure we found what we were looking. We went to two venues and returned to CD to ring in my birthday. fThis was my first trip to this glorious city and bar. I have been reluctant until now to write a review simply because this hidden gem is truly my favourite experience in this great city. John Borra is such a gift - his banter, story-telling, and even sometimes soft-spoken soap-boxing between songs is spellbinding enough to captivate every patron in the joint. There is honest to goodness silence in there when he speaks. Dressed in 30's garb, he sings his own songs accompanied by a great combo that changes ever so slightly from week to week. Yes, it's packed, yes, you have to come at 3 if you want to be sitting on a chair by the time the show starts at 4 pm, no, it won't win any decor or mixologist awards, but that is not the point - jazz here on Saturday afternoons is hands down an experience that everyone should have, at least once! They have an odd assortment of booze for sale - from a Manhattan to exotic beer brands, they will likely have what you're looking for, though in small amounts. I would also tell patrons to remember to bring enough cash to donate to the band when it's time to pass the hat! It's as though we've all been invited over to our cool uncle's living room for a speakeasy/salon, and I can't wait to get back. read more

Checked it out this weekend. What an amazing vibe. Like others have said, it feels like you're a friend's house. Michael, the singing bartender, is incredible. when i just want to go to a shitty dive bar for some whiskey shots & pints of cider, i'm not particularly picky about the service, but the bartenders' near-neglect of patrons here each time i visit is verging on patronizing. ever hear of a buy-back or even a gesture of appreciation when your customer continuously tips you 5 dollars a round ALL NIGHT? drinks are cheap & the run-down nature of the place suits the clientele, but the smug hipsterdom is a bit of a turn off. i'll stop by for a few if i'm in the neighborhood but won't go out of my way to wet my whistle here. read more

A great little hole in the wall. The Sunday Revival with John Borra and Sam Ferrara (Sunday 5-8) is magic. Where else in the city can you hear a musical saw and Slinky and John Borra's tunesmithy in such an intimate atmosphere. Good Beer, great Pickled eggs and the jukebox are also pluses. You might want to arrive a tiny bit early as the place fills up quickly and it isn't that big. read more

Really great music. Maybe a few too many hipsters but I love that all sorts hang out there...young, old, preppy, Millenial,, whatever label you can think of. Everyone is relaxed and there for the same reason. For that, you are bound to be comfortable. read more
