In the past we have donated 100.00 checks when a request came in the mail. Many times. This is tax time and i had the opportunity to donate 800.00. once. So, this is bigger amount, i looked at photos of the Tucson warehouse , very stocked , and asked how often a family can get a box of food and staples. ONCE A MONTH WITH FULL RESIDENCE ID. It seems to me, with this much inventory, no one should have to get by on once a month. And, if you need food from the food bank you seem unlikely to have a current drivers license and a home. I don't see how a box a month of dry good will last for 1-2 people. I would suggest weekly and in need only as a requirement. I made my large donation. elsewhere in Tucson where i can specify how it is to be used. Nutrition and Vitamins thatmedicare insurance won't pay for. read more

I encountered an issue today at approximately 10:30 AM during a food retrieval. Upon returning my cart, I requested three additional chips, citing the presence of multiple children in my party. The employee, who appeared to be approximately 63 years of age, denied my request, stating that company policy limits each customer to one chip. His demeanor was rather uncooperative and discourteous. I observed that preceding customers were provided with three to four chips and were even encouraged to take additional quantities. This discrepancy in policy enforcement is a matter of concern. I recommend addressing this with the employee to ensure consistent and professional service for all patrons. I witnessed several individuals ahead of me receive three to four chips from this employee, and they were even prompted to take more. This inconsistent application of policy is unacceptable. I wanted to share my experience as a donor. This year, we had a ton of extra citrus, and we also wanted to donate some gluten-free items since they can be a bit tricky to find. I called ahead to check if they'd take the fresh stuff, and a friendly staff member confirmed they would. When I got there, the parking lot was packed, but dropping off the donations was a breeze. Staff members were really nice and appreciative, and I'm sure the food went to those who need it. read more

If you want to take part in serving the community I suggest volunteering your time at the Community Food Bank. The facility is huge and so there's always a need need for volunteers. Depending on the number of volunteers would dictate what needs to get done. In my case, I was part of the boxes team feeding the assembly line. I have to say I have not mastered the technique but I had fun. It's a place where more agencies (for profit or none profit) should be involved in. For instance when I volunteered, there's a group from TEP, Banner Health (supply), Coyote Creek Neighbors, Banner UMC Residency class, UoA Olli, Geico Team 1, Desert View High School and NCC School. You just have to be 16 and older to be a volunteer. They give us 20 minute breaks on the hour and we volunteered from 9am to noon. They also have gloves available, in case you need it. The place has ample parking space and a stocked break room where there's a vending machine for drinks and one for snacks. Definitely worth the time and effort because it's fulfilling, I think. read more

the food is expired I got donuts expired from February 3rd then other times they gave me cheetos that expired 1-2 months prior

I dragged my teen out from 6:30a-10p to help load hundreds of boxes (20-30 lbs each) into cars one morning. This wasn't for "community service" points though. Rather it was an opportunity for both of us to be grateful - not simply FOR food, a car with a/c, a stable job - but also grateful TO one another and to witness jubilation on so many faces and shame in just as many others. Our random "coworkers" were all kind, compassionate and positive. I burned three hours of vacation time and would gladly volunteer again. Fyi, if you want to participate there are a number of required forms and training videos (with quizzes) that you must pass before you become a Covid-qualifies volunteer. read more

This charity does incredible work. I have been there on multiple occasions seeing dozens of people getting fresh veggies, frozen fruits, meat, rice, beans and even snacks. Keep up the good work! read more

But this wasn't enough food for me to make it even a few days, while i saw other people walking out with several bags in shopping carts :/ No hate, i really appreciate it but why no veggies? It's not just for those in need. The Community Food Bank offers free gardening classes for everyone and have Farmers Markets. Both of these programs are helping the local economy by educating the public about where there food comes from and how important it is to eat food soon after it's been harvested. In addition, these programs have a positive effect on the health of the community by providing participants with easy access to healthy fresh food. This place offers food to those in need but also serves as a food store where profits made from purchases are used to support the charity services. They also do interesting things like garden education and arrange a farmer's market. read more

The food bank has been an asset here for years. Though one should compare prices when they shop, the food bank has been successful in giving the customer a good value for their money. I wonder how many people know that there is NO "Qualifying" for those who choose to shop at the "Value Food Program", or "VFP". read more

get supplemental food here on the regular due to finances. no holiday boxes at all used to get frozen meat and some greens but no more. sometimes just stale bread mac n cheese and canned stuff i'm very grateful.. but for all the donations and the holiday long turkey drive.. where does it all go?? read more
