Tommy did an amazing job for us. We'd give 10 stars if we could. We built a house last year. Tommy worked with our other contractors to make sure that our exterior irrigation and landscaping desires did not overwhelm our interior water needs. Tommy worked with us tirelessly and patiently as we struggled our way through options and pricing ultimately delivering a high quality system that is exactly what we need. Nothing more. Nothing less. We shopped around and had bids from several companies. The personalized approach and follow through is what sold us on this company. Tommy answered all of our questions (and we were a giant pain), walked the property with us numerous times and worked around our schedules. That is and of itself deserves a full star!!! For what it's worth - we've had our system for a few months now. The customer service is still EXCELLENT!! ! Definitely recommend them!!!! read more

Be very careful using this company without talking to communities like Belmont Country Club in Ashburn. For years common areas and private yards have been well maintained and kept in beautiful condition. This past year Community Landscape Services won the service contract for the neighborhood and over just 10 months, substantially destroyed the lawns, common areas and much of the general landscaping throughout the community. Their work has been nothing short of abysmal. Since this company took over less than a year ago, the once lush, manicured common areas and fields, along with the majority of private lawns, are infiltrated with weeds, with a significant percentage of areas that were grass now little but dirt and crabgrass. In fact, in a majority of areas in the neighborhood grass has been almost entirely replaced with a variety of clover and other weeds. As far as edging, mulching and maintaining beds (part of their contract), they seem to have no understanding of the process at all. Beds once nicely edged and mulched, now under the "care" of Community Landscape Services, are seldom if ever edged, leaving mulch to wash out into and lawns, killing any grass left. Trees and shrubs "maintained" by this company are butchered, not shaped and trimmed as they were prior to this company taking over maintenance in the community. Despite paying for their service, residents frequently must maintain their own yards and landscape at their own additional expense. Many residents now prevent this company from servicing their property, despite already paying for the service in HOA dues. Once a showcase of beautiful landscape and lawn maintenance, Community Landscape Services, in just one year of a contract, has degraded and damaged the natural aesthetics of the neighborhood so significantly that it will likely take multiple years to repair. Public fields, median strips, and other rarely maintained landscaping outside this neighborhood look immensely better than those inside the neighborhood which were under the "care" of Community Landscape Services. This company shows an amazing lack of concern for any sort of quality work and does not appear to have even a basic understanding of landscaping and lawn maintenance. If a resident has the fortune of ever being able to speak with a representative from the company, a nearly impossible feat as they seldom if ever take or return calls, they are told that the fault lies with the previous landscape company (again who beautifully maintained the community for more than a decade and actually responded to any issues that arose). They seem to fully abdicate any responsibility for the atrocious condition of the community landscaping, allowing conditions to continually degrade throughout the Summer and Fall. This community has spent substantially with this company only to receive bottom of the barrel quality and miserable service. This company has undone nearly 2 decades of landscape development and enhancement in the community. I most strongly recommend finding another company, any other company. The estimate for the work was the lowest, and yet they offered the best materials for the work and stayed on budget. Tommy was extremely communicative and professional. I am a three-year resident of Belmont Country Club and have had an incredibly bad experience with this landscape "maintenance" company. They do not maintain as much they remove plant material en masse and indiscriminately, without regard to whether it's the right time of year to prune a particular plant or whether they even have the authorization to do so on private property. I have been on the HOA's exclusion list to opt out of pruning, weeding, and spraying, yet CLS's landscapers often ignore my request. When I'm around to see that they're doing anything other than mowing grass I usually keep an eye on my garden beds so I can run out and stop them from pruning and weeding on the spot - this should not be necessary if the crews were properly trained and/or supervised but it's been the only way I've been able to prevent my perennials and shrubs from being pulled out or razed. Today I was ten minutes too late to see what they were doing and they had trimmed all of my perennials in my front yard bed to the ground - some of them were still green and several shouldn't have been pruned until late winter/early spring. They are also a bird and insect habitat for winter but it's completely gone now. I ran out to tell the landscaper that they're not supposed to do anything in my garden beds but it was obvious he didn't understand that residents can opt out of service and asked if he should still trim the bushes. In August CLS personnel pulled out some perennials from the same bed because they can't distinguish them from weeds. I filed a complaint with the HOA then and got an apology from CLS but it's obvious there's no system in place to prevent this kind of destruction to continue happening. The most frustrating part at this point is not that a landscape maintenance company can't be trusted to provide the hired service, but that they won't just leave my property alone when I've requested to be excluded from all their services except for mowing grass. read more

Community Landscape Services have been caring for our Townhouse community in Alexandria for the past several years. When they were first awarded the contract, their mowing and landscaping services were good, and they were responsive to addressing any concerns or questions we had regarding their work or our neighborhood. However, in the past two years, the quality of service provided to our community as outlined in their contract has greatly declined. I have personally brought concerns about the haphazard lawn care to the attention of both the workers and their foreman but the grounds remain partially mowed, areas of lawn completely missed, and trees that have been dead or completely blown over remain planted instead of being removed. What was once a mostly male latino crew have been replaced with female latinos who seem more interested in checking their phones than checking to make sure that their jobs have been completed satisfactorily. When I went up to a few female workers to show them some areas of the lawn that had been missed when mowing, they acted like they didn't speak english and, worse yet, like they didn't care about my complaints. After several unsuccessful attempts to draw attention to their careless services, I will now be working to ensure their their contract is not renewed and that we can finally sign with a new company that will deliver quality landscaping services as outlined by their contract. If you are looking for a landscape service that you can depend on and who is responsive to your needs, do not choose Community Landscape Services. read more
